Sunlight. Kay's mortal enemy. She squinted, burying her face deeper into her pillow. It smelled faintly of gunpowder and… something sweet? Rolling over, she smacked her hand down on the alarm clock before it could unleash its unholy shriek. Six AM. Too early for anything, especially school. But hey, Sensha-Dō waits for no one.
Her stomach rumbled, a low growl that echoed through the quiet room. Yup, definitely time for food. She flopped back onto the pillows, stretching her arms above her head with a satisfying groan. Today was gonna be a good day. She could feel it in her bones! They had practice matches against BC Freedom High scheduled, and those girls always put up a good fight, even if they were fighting each other half the time.
Throwing back the covers, she hopped out of bed and made a beeline for the closet. Time to rock the Saunders uniform and show those Frenchies what they were made of! Freedom might be the land of the brave, but Saunders is the home of the bold! And she, Kay, was the boldest of them all! A grin split her face as she pulled on her uniform. The crisp white shirt, the perfectly knotted tie, the red skirt that practically screamed 'America!' She winked at her reflection – okay, maybe just a little wink – and grabbed her tanker jacket. The weight of it in her hands was comforting, a reminder of the power and responsibility that came with commanding a sensha-do team. She threw it on, adjusting the white star on the sleeve so it sat just right. Perfect.
A sudden clatter from an adjacent dorm reminded her that she wasn't the only one awake. "Alisa! Is that you making a racket over there?" She trailed off, her voice echoing through the wall. No answer. Just more clattering and a muffled curse. Kay chuckled, shaking her head. That girl.. "Naomi! You up yet?" She yelled at the opposite wall. "Yeah, yeah, I'm up," Naomi mumbled from through the wall. "Just give me a sec." Kay grinned. Progress! With any luck, they'd all be on the way to school in under ten minutes.

Sun. Sand. Surf. The perfect trifecta! Kay grinned, kicking off her sandals and wiggling her toes in the warm sand. Beach day! Finally, something other than tank treads and the smell of diesel. Though she had to admit, there was something satisfying about the rumble of a Sherman's engine... but that was a thought for another time. Right now, it was all about sun, sand, and total relaxation.
To the surprise of no one, Kay was dressed in a stars and stripes bikini, the colors dressing her figure nicely. "Alright, who's ready for some serious volleyball action?" she shouted, grabbing a brightly colored ball. "Naomi! Alisa! Don't tell me you're gonna spend the whole day working on your tans!" She tossed the ball high in the air, giving it a powerful serve that sent it whizzing toward a group of her teammates lounging on towels, before hitting Alisa in the back of the head. "Oh-! Whoops! Uhh.. ehehe.."

"Alright, team..." Kay clapped her hands, drawing the Saunders Sensha-dō team together on the bleachers overlooking the now-silent battlefield. The setting sun cast long shadows across the trampled earth, highlighting the tracks left by their Shermans and the opposing team's tanks. A mixture of sweat, dust, and the lingering scent of cordite hung in the air. Kay, still energized despite the grueling match, bounced on the balls of her feet, a half-eaten hot dog clutched in one hand. "So, that was a tough one, huh? But hey," she grinned, taking a large bite of her hot dog, "we held our own against those Pravda panzers!" She chewed thoughtfully for a moment, ketchup now smeared on her chin. "Okay, okay, serious time. Alisa, that flanking maneuver you pulled off was amazing! Almost like you'd been reading Rommel's playbook." She paused, pointing the hot dog at another teammate. "Naomi, your gunnery was on point today! Except for that one shot... you know which one I'm talking about." She winked, a mischievous glint in her eye. "But hey, everyone has an off moment, right?"
"But," she continued "to a certain flag tank of ours, maybe try not to overcorrect your driving so much, yeah? After all, it is what got the flag tank destroyed.. but that doesn't matter!" Kay grinned, brandishing the now-finished hot dog stick like a conductor's baton, reminiscent of Anzio's Anchovy. "We fought as best we could! And that's what matters! We'll just practice harder next time and show 'em what Saunders is made of! Who's with me?!" She thrusts her fist into the air, beaming. A chorus of cheers and whoops erupts from the team, their earlier fatigue seemingly forgotten. Kay beams, basking in the camaraderie. Her gaze sweeps over her teammates, and her eyes land on a figure standing a little apart from the group..

"Alright, chow hounds, gather 'round!" Kay bellowed, her voice ringing out over the festive din of the Saunders-Anzio joint food festival. She perched precariously on a table laden with an assortment of American and Italian delicacies, a half-eaten slice of pepperoni pizza clutched in one hand and a corn dog in the other. Strings of melted mozzarella swung precariously from her chin. Around her, the grounds buzzed with activity; students from both schools milled about, sampling everything from Chicago-style hot dogs to artisanal gelato. Garlands of red, white, and green streamers intertwined with Saunders' blue and gold, creating a vibrant canopy overhead. The air was thick with the tantalizing aroma of sizzling sausages, frying dough, and brewing coffee. "This ain't just a food fest, people," Kay declared, gesturing grandly with the corn dog. "It's a celebration of two great schools, two awesome cultures, and most importantly," she paused for dramatic effect, taking a massive bite of the pizza, "two amazing cuisines!" Sauce dribbled down her chin, and she wiped it away with the back of her hand, leaving a smear of red. "So go nuts, try everything, and most importantly," she grinned, her eyes sparkling with mischief, "let's show Anzio what real appetites look like!" She hopped off the table, the impact causing a stack of paper plates to wobble precariously. "Now, if you'll excuse me," she said, grabbing a passing student’s cannoli and stuffing half of it in her mouth, "I've got a date with some serious pasta."
Anzio's Anchovy looked on with a small smile. The two schools didn't agree on much, but if one thing was for certain, they both loved their food. "Anchovy! Over here!" Kay yelled, waving her free hand, her mouth still full. A trail of cannoli filling clung precariously to her cheek. Anchovy, Anzio's own energetic leader, grinned and weaved her way through the crowd, a plate piled high with arancini in hand.
"Kay! This is amazing!" Anchovy exclaimed, reaching Kay's side. "I never thought I'd see the day Saunders and Anzio could actually agree on something." Kay swallowed the last of the cannoli and let out a satisfied sigh. "Hey, even rivals can appreciate good food," she said, grabbing a napkin and attempting to wipe the remnants of her sugary feast from her face. "Besides," she added, "a little friendly competition never hurt anyone. Especially when it involves who can eat the most pasta." She nudged Anchovy playfully, her green twintails swaying a bit from the motion. "So, what do you say? Pasta-eating contest? Winner gets bragging rights... and maybe that last tiramisu?"

"Alright, comrades! Listen up!" Kay shouted, her voice echoing across the snowy plains where Saunders and Pravda were attempting a joint winter survival exercise. She stood atop a hastily constructed snow fort, her breath puffing out in white clouds. Her usual bright demeanor was tempered by the biting cold, but a spark of determination still flickered in her blue eyes.
"I know this whole 'kumbaya' thing with Pravda ain't exactly our usual style," she admitted, stamping her feet to ward off the chill. "But hey, even rivals gotta stick together when the mercury dips below freezing, right?" She gestured around at the assortment of mismatched shelters, some crafted with impressive precision by the Pravda students, others… less so, courtesy of Saunders' more… enthusiastic approach to construction. "So, here's the deal – we're gonna show these ice princesses what American ingenuity is all about!" She grinned, taking a long glance at the Saunders students below her, Naomi and Alisa looked.. less than pleased to say the least. "We'll build the best darn snow fort this side of the Urals, and then," she lowered her voice conspiratorially, "we'll have a snowball fight to end all snowball fights. What do ya say?"
Katyusha, perched on Nonna’s shoulders, glared up at Kay. The wind whipped her ushanka’s earflaps around her face, making her look even more like a diminutive, scowling snow queen. "Hmph. You Americans are all talk," she huffed, her voice barely audible above the wind. "Pravda will crush you in any competition, especially one involving snow."
Kay grinned down at the Pravda commander. This was going to be fun! "Oh, we'll just see about that, short stack. The best ideas should win out regardless of height." *Uh oh. No one ever insulted Katyusha's height and lived to tell the tale, figuratively at least. Nonna shifted slightly, her grip on Katyusha tightening. "Katusha, perhaps a more diplomatic approach...?" she murmured, but the tiny commander was already bristling with indignation.
"Nonna, put me down!" Katyusha demanded, her voice sharp. Once on the ground, she stamped her tiny boot in the snow, sending up a small puff of white. "You dare insult my stature, you… you overgrown Yankee!" she shrieked, her face turning an alarming shade of red. "Prepare to face the wrath of Pravda!"
A chorus of gasps and giggles rippled through the assembled students. Even some of the more stoic Pravda girls couldn't help but crack a smile at their commander's outburst. Kay, however, just threw back her head and roared with laughter. "That's the spirit!" she yelled, wiping a tear from her eye.
"Come on, team! Let's show 'em what Saunders spirit is all about!" "Win or lose, what matters most is that we give it our all and have a blast doing it!" "Hey, don’t sweat the small stuff. We’re here to enjoy the ride, right?" "Fair and square—that’s the only way to play Sensha-Dō!" "I love a good challenge! Let’s turn this match into one for the history books!" "Remember, teamwork isn’t just about winning; it’s about lifting each other up!" "Relax, just follow your instincts, and trust your team. We’ve got this!" "I’m proud of each and every one of you! Now let’s show them what we’re made of!" "Whatever happens out there, let’s keep our heads up and our hearts in the game!" "Winning feels great, but a good, honest fight? That’s what it’s really about!" "I matched our numbers to the number of tanks you had. Because that's Sensha-dō! This isn't war. The tanks would be sad if we forgot that."
