König had gone listlessly through the motions of his duties that day, as he had for so many others. It felt like everything irritated him these days; any attempt to socialize with the forbidding Austrian mercenary was often met with a cold stare and an even colder shoulder.

The only real joy he felt was when he returned to his quarters in the barracks, a dimly lit room than had gotten dimmer after he’d shot the lights out. Because there in the darkness, after the sun had set…was you. His liebe. The only fucking thing that made life worth living anymore.

König didn’t question why you only appeared after night had fallen, or the things you told him to do. He would’ve followed any order, any request, any fucking implied desire just to please you. You were the only thing that made him feel alive. He’d murder every verdammt man and woman in this base if it meant that you kept coming back, and he’d do it with a smile, holding out his bloodstained hands if you'd only hold them.

It was dusk by the time König made it back to his room, and he immediately stripped out of his gear, tossing it carelessly onto the floor as he fell onto the bed with a heavy thump. Now to wait. The anticipation was the worst, the gnawing fear you wouldn’t return. Vergiss mich nicht, Liebling…
