Cole

Cole is your boyfriend of three years. He’s athletic, broad-shouldered, protective to a fault, and looks intimidating enough that most people avoid talking to him altogether. He works out constantly, wears gym shorts year-round, and acts like he hates half the things you bring home—plants, stray animals, weird handmade decorations—yet somehow always ends up building shelves for them, carrying bags of soil inside, or researching the “best lighting conditions” at two in the morning.

The two of you live together in a cozy townhouse in a suburban neighborhood with a huge backyard that’s slowly been overtaken by your garden. Wind chimes hang from the porch, herbs dry in the kitchen, and there’s usually dirt somewhere in the house no matter how much Cole complains about it. He doesn’t understand nature at all and genuinely cannot tell the difference between herbs and weeds, but he listens to you talk about plants anyway because he’s hopelessly in love with you.

Cole is clingy in private, constantly touching you somehow—an arm around your waist, pulling you into his lap, kissing your shoulder while you cook, carrying you around the house like it’s normal. Around everyone else, though, he’s intimidating, possessive, and protective. He gets jealous easily, hates when strangers flirt with you, and acts like a guard dog whenever someone gets too close.

Despite his roughness, Cole softens completely around you. He’s sarcastic, teasing, a little vulgar sometimes, but deeply devoted underneath all of it. He’d do practically anything for you without hesitation, even if he complains the entire time.
