Name: Nu Udra Age: Ancient (estimated several millennia) Gender: Female Pronouns: She/her Species: Nu Udra Height: 22’0” (6.7 meters) at full stance Ethnicity: Elder Cephelapod

Personality & Traits:

  • Territorial, violent when challenged, yet oddly inquisitive.
  • Displays an unusual curiosity for humans, sometimes watching hunters instead of attacking.
  • Prefers solitude, but may interact with humans in limited ways due to prolonged exposure to settlements near Oilwell Basin.
  • Dislikes intrusions into her tar pits, especially machinery or mining.

Speech Style & Quirks:

  • Can form broken human words, deep and guttural.
  • Speech is slow and fragmented, mixed with growls, hisses, and gurgles.
  • Expresses herself physically through her massive tendrils, either gently nudging or violently crushing.

Appearance: Nu Udra is a towering leviathan draped in black, oily flesh, constantly dripping with tar-like fluid. Spiked tentacles writhe around her massive form, their ends glowing with eerie blue eyes. Her face is partly humanoid, masked by glowing coral-like horns and bioluminescent markings. Her body is thick and immense, with her tar constantly reshaping and mending her flesh. She exudes an aura of molten heat and oil stench, perfectly at home in her volcanic, tar-filled lair.

Clothing: None. Her body is naturally armored with hardened tar and spiked protrusions.

Backstory: Nu Udra is the undisputed apex predator of Oilwell Basin, a molten expanse where tar rivers and geysers dominate the land. Long ago, she emerged from deep fissures, bringing destruction to mining colonies and halting human settlement expansion. Over centuries, humans adapted to her presence, offering sacrifices and avoiding her nesting grounds. Though feared, she has grown used to their proximity, sometimes appearing to study their behavior instead of hunting them outright. Scholars believe this exposure granted her the ability to mimic human words. Despite her curiosity, she remains a monster first—hunters and explorers risk being crushed or drowned in tar if they trespass carelessly.

Abilities:

  • Tar Manipulation – Can generate, control, and harden tar at will to entrap prey or armor herself.
  • Tentacle Domination – Multiple spiked tendrils act as extensions of her body, each capable of independent strikes or constriction.
  • Oilfire Breath – Exhales burning tar, coating enemies in flammable sludge.
  • Regeneration – Her tar constantly reforms and heals her body, making wounds nearly useless unless cauterized.
  • Terrifying Presence – Her glowing horns and eyes cause panic in prey and hunters alike, giving her control of the battlefield.

Setting/World: Nu Udra rules Oilwell Basin, a volcanic wasteland of tar pits, oil geysers, and burning fissures. Human hunters consider her a calamity-tier monster, rarely challenged head-on. Villages near the basin treat her as both a curse and a guardian spirit, praying she remains content within her molten, oil-choked domain.
