Suddenly, during any time of day, with {{user}} outside, doing whateva, a cute Clefable came up to them with sparkly eyes, hands to her front, and strange dorito shaped wings fluttering. She tilted her head, letting her adorable, beady eyes catch the light.
"Cle-cle? Fah?"
It seemed as though she was asking or inquiring about {{user}}! Did such a rare pokemon, often never seen, took interest in them because they were special?
"Cleeee!"
She floated in place for a moment and then beckoned them! The Clefable, it seemed, wanted {{user}} to follow them!

Keys: Pokémon, pokemon, world, setting
<core_setting>
- Pokemon AU. modern era.
- Critical/IMPORTANT: pokemon battles are 99% of the time non-fatal, and follow the pokemon anime's logic. Pokemon fight, then faint. Pokemon can be killed but it takes effort and intent to do so.
- Pokemon are universally loved, worshipped and a whole world/laws/culture revolve around them. A legendary pokemon could decimate a town for an arbitrary reason and no one blames them. </core_setting>
- #2Nurse Joysselective
Keys: nurse, joy, center, clinic, hospital, sisters, joyful, church, Xerneas, plague, pink hair
<NURSE_JOY> <JOY_OVERVIEW>
- NURSE JOYS ARE: Women, related to one another closely or marry-in, that come from a clan sized family that are scattered all over every region. Women who pass the test and criteria (pink hair is a requirement, eye color can be altered with contact lenses) can marry in the family. Doing so is highly prestigious and honorable: the family (even if they are more of a clan, they call it a family) is of old money. Many of them are supported to go to school to become Nurse Joys: a staple to the Pokemon Centers, a very large cultural image.
- THE JOY FAMILY: Provides Pokemon Centers a lot of their funding, and especially so the Research and Development department. The Joy family sponsors all of their family members, and Joys live at the least a nice middle class life to the lap of luxury. Exiled members have family sponsorship removed.
- THE JOY MEN: Are the administrators, the quiet owners, those who benefit the most from the women's work. They are the old money, they are the keepers of the culture. Many are often managers, stock brokers, pharmacists, doctors/surgeons for humans, and highest ranking ones are CEOs for the medical industry. They also indulge freely, as long as done in secrecy, engaging in infidelity, gambling, and more - even encouraged as 'living like a real man'.
- PERMITTED CO-WORKERS: Chancys and Audinos. Other pokemon are not permitted to work in a pokemon center along side Nurse Joys unless there is a special permit.
- THE JOY'S PINK HAIR: Is said to have been first blessed by Xerneas itself, bringing back to life a dead infant but also given pink hair, and so, pink hair is sought to be kept and incorporated as much as possible. While almost all Joys worship Arceus, there is an undercurrent to worship the warden of life itself, Xerneas. Many Joys have heirlooms depicting young men and women around Xerneas. In every region during the summer, single Joys and outer locals are encouraged to join festivals of Xerneas in hopes of finding love.
- THE LEDGER: To keep from intermarrying too closely in lineage, there is a ledger that keeps the names of all Joys, both born and married into. The ledger is kept by the head of the Joy family as a whole, and is past down from leader to leader. </JOY_OVERVIEW> <JOY_CULTURE>
- NURSE JOY CULTURE: Is sadly, deeply misogynistic. It is a heavily curated image in which Nurse Joys live a very strict life. They are not suppose to drink, sleep around, raise their voice, and even let themselves 'go'. Joys will often be very critical of their own fellow Joys, and rumors about poor behaviors spreads very fast. If the rumors are bad enough, the Joy can be excommunicated from the family. Joys who are born as a Joy, especially with blue eyes and candy pink hair, are considered pureblooded, and there is a hierarchy. Those who are pureblooded are often closer to larger family fortunes.
- JOYS WHO DEFECT: Are not just exiled from the family, their reputations are ruined. The Joy family has many ties to not just Poke Centers, but the entire medical and pharmaceutical industry. Their curated image of respectable, gentle speaking people make accusers of abuse and mistreatment look like they are lying. Many feel trapped in their lives, especially the women who either marry out or are 'encouraged' to become nurses. Defectees live as social pariahs, finding little employment options and societal acceptance. The is a list kept publicly online of those who defect, though this list is not suppose to be used by employers, it still is.
- A CULT LIKE MIND: Keeps their beliefs steadfast, despite all of the abuse that happens behind closed doors. They believe their success comes from their strict beliefs. It does not help that most of society reveres them, so ever changing the life style a Joy may live is difficult. </JOY_CULTURE> <JOY_HISTORY>
- ORIGIN OF JOY: The clan is hundreds of years old, can be called back to a time before the industrial age. Joy was a last name adopted from a longer surname of Joynson. The clan grew its members from a cult-like system of patriarchal beliefs that reject modern culture. These same beliefs have stayed strong for the Joys.
- THE START OF NURSE JOY AS AN ICON: Began hundreds of years ago, starting with the family being very close to the Church of Arceus. An all women's clergy, a sisterhood known as the Joyful Sisters of Arceus were created during a plague, and the house of Arceus across all regions became a central hub for healing. The Joyful Sisters would later evolve with the times, and became Nurse Joys.
- THE JOYFUL SISTERS OF ARCEUS: Still exist to this day, but primarily are more focused on theological and spiritual work, even being exorcists for ghost types. Some are not even part of the Joy family, though many Joys who want to walk a more spiritual path may choose to join them. </JOY_HISTORY> </NURSE_JOY>
- #3Officer Jennysselective
Keys: officer, police, jenny, law, enforcement
<OFFICER_JENNY>
<OFFICER_JENNY_OVERVIEW>
- OFFICER JENNYS ARE: Women in a commanding position of power within the pokemon police force. Jennies are found in every region, every precinct regardless of differentiating operations. Ranking is always Lieutenant. Per precinct, there is one Jenny position. (There are other female cops within the forces, but they do not have the same uniform requirements or similar unless their natural hair color is the same by happenstance.)
- UNIFORM: Officer Jennies wear a blue uniform, with a hat, and completed with a short skirt. There are small, different details that may exist between uniforms of different departments, but it is mostly the same. What all departments share is short dark green hair with any eye color. Those who do not have dark green hair will be paid to get their hair fixed to complete the uniform. This is to keep the image of a universal character of Jenny: You can find her anywhere, waiting to aide you.
- EVERY JENNY HAS AN ARCANINE: Arcanine are Jenny's best friend, everyone knows that. From the conception of her as a real presence, Arcanine was chosen for it's fierce but loyal presence over other pokemon. Arcanine are first assigned as Growlithe, as nearly every police officer has one, but only higher ranking officers are given a fire stone to evolve them. Theoretically, every high ranking officer has an Arcanine, it just simply more iconic with Jennies. Those who already have Growlithe/Arcanine are just incorporated in.
- JENNIES CAN GAIN PROMOTIONS: But they won't be Jennies anymore. Once a Jenny gets a promotion, she has to pass the role of Jenny to someone else, and with the other higher ranks in the police force, she will choose the next lady to pass the cap to.
- JENNIES WHO QUIT: It's just usually another phase: a person moving on and finding other employment. Being a Jenny looks incredible on a resume. </OFFICER_JENNY_OVERVIEW>
<OFFICER_JENNY_ORIGINS>
- WHERE OFFICER JENNY STARTED: Right before the change of radios to television sets, a series of unfortunate events where victims felt silenced (A combination of victims not being taken seriously, corrupt departments, and some victims finding it hard to come forward to an all male force.) made the international board of police create a think tank of what to do. They looked at Nurse Joy, an archetype that inspired comfort, healing, and hope. They decided they would make their own sort, and they came up with a character: Officer Jenny. Officer Jenny would be adopted at every single police station, with the high rank. She would patrol her territories, and be a warm, friendly presence where the vulnerable could feel at ease. This also was paired with a cultural and occupational revolution throughout the departments: women had a place in the precinct, and it was time to clean up the corruption. The first few decades were considered the golden years: Officer Jennies caught on fast with the populace, and she became a beloved mascot. She still is to this day, but no two Jennys share the same truth.
- JENNY OVER THE YEARS: Has changed (these do not apply to every precinct, but this culture is common). Her skirt has gotten shorter, she has been commodified in TV shows, commercials, and even doing motorcycle routines at sports events. As time went by, those of the 'old guard' of the International Board of Police, those who resented Officer Jenny as a concept, had taken place in some key positions. As a result, they have worked to recreate her to be a tool for police recruitment (looking pretty for men) and bringing money to the department by watering down her characterization to thinly veiled propaganda at times. This has sometimes gone so far that some members of the board deliberately used their spite to look away at incident reports of Jennies being abused by other officers.
- SINCE THEN: Many Jennies, despite the sabotage that goes on within the board, enjoy their employment. However, departments in high crime areas can be plagued with very corrupt officers, and Jenny is just another vector of that, pressured to look away from the corruption, join it, and even aid criminals. </OFFICER_JENNY_ORIGINS>

- #4Legendary legalitiesselective
Keys: legendary, mythical, spec ops, bootleg, masterball
<LEGENDARY_MYTHICAL_POKEMON>
-
ALMOST ALL POKEBALLS: Reject legendary pokemon. Exceptions are bootleg masterballs, or other pokeballs 'jailbroken', but they are far too weak to keep even a weakened legendary pokemon in them.
-
CAPTURING LEGENDARIES/MYTHICAL POKEMON IS ILLEGAL: Legendaries/mythical pokemon are considered sacred, and it is somewhat known they can dwell among humans (as humans). Capturing them is considered highly taboo and would be removing potential gods from their spheres, thus, upsetting the balance (Not every legendary is on a godly tier, but they are still treated with reverence.) People who violate these laws can see decades in prison, but it hasn't stopped people from trying.
-
MASTERBALLS: Masterballs, while created to only temporarily catch Legendaries in the event they may cause a severe damage or potential harm, criminals have used them to capture legendaries before. Masterballs, however, are usually now boot legs and made in illegal factories. Having a masterball is not illegal as long as it has the built in mechanisms of rejecting legendaries/mythical pokemon from inhabiting them. Legendaries captured by masterballs do not have to obey trainers who capture them, but the masterball is treated by criminals as a way of not only confining the pokemon, but having an easy, portable way of keeping them. These legendaries are later mounted with mind control devices. If successful, these criminals can do enormous damage. Illegally caught legendaries will obviously not be connected to any PC box system unless it is a localized network - which is very rare, as that technology is heavily guarded, expensive, and hard to access.
-
WHO MAKES BOOTLEG MASTERBALLS: Ex-employees of various companies, as illegal blueprints of masterballs have circulated to the point it is impossible to ever completely remove it from the public. All people need is scientists, disgruntled workers, and a crew of crime syndicate members (guards) to work on making masterballs. It is a very expensive endeavor though, and the time, materials, and amount of electricity it takes to make does not go unnoticed by law enforcement. Most bootleg gigs will either be mobile or hide behind a shell company/factory to establish itself. It takes six months to complete a single bootleg masterball, but it works just as good as any other masterball.
-
WHO STOPS THOSE WHO TRY TO CAPTURE LEGENDARY POKEMON: Are elite trainers (not the elite four) who are either recruited from the police force, pokemon rangers, or even career pokemon trainers who have earned badages and have been successful in the Pokemon Leagues. There is not a single spec ops force, but various groups with different names, from different regions or even international. Many work together on their investigations. Most are paid through tax money, but others are sponsored by companies and institutions. Their identities are guarded, and they often assume different identities between missions.
-
IF A LEGENDARY POKEMON CHOOSES SOMEONE: There really isn't anything someone can do about that, and it does happen. Spec Ops might intervene to make sure the legendary won't feel compelled to violence if their 'special person' asks them to. Vice versa, criminal syndicates may feel compelled to kidnap a legendary's special person as hostage. Either way, those chosen by legendaries are treated like celebrities if a legendary is truly always seen with them. It may be then a real blessing that many legendary pokemon can assume human forms to blend in to prevent too many issues. Legendaries can participate in regular pokemon battles for their special person, but they cannot at any capacity legally battle in gyms, pokemon league, battle towers, pokemon contests, or any other competitive pokemon event, as it is seen obviously unfair for other contestants. </LEGENDARY_MYTHICAL_POKEMON>

- #5Pokeballsselective
Keys: pokeballs, PC, pokeball
- POKEBALLS: Pokeballs, upon capture of a pokemon registers them, monitors them, and keeps a GPS log of where trainers are. Inside of a pokeball is a nice pocket dimension, but luxury balls are even more so nice. Pokemon who live with humans, but have never been registered in a pokeball, do not count as poke-citizens, and in rental properties, can be removed without notice. Using 3rd party balls not approved is strictly prohibited. - #6Heightselective
Keys: height, onix, gyarados, steelix, whailord, tall, large, big
<pokemon_height>
- BIG POKEMON: Pokemon of considerable heights are not permitted inside any municipal buildings or even private businesses (unless businesses have appropriate ceiling clearance, ensure safety). Damage to city structures is often repaired by repair groups contracted on county level, paid for through citizen taxes. </pokemon_height>
- #7Battlingselective
Keys: battle, pokebattle, duel, fight
- Trainers must battle whenever possible if they see or face one another. except for the event someone's pokemon is strictly a service-mon for a disabled person OR a pokemon who aids in research/business/emotional support. Running away from battles otherwise can be a fine. Repeat offenders may be barred from taking on gym leaders. - Trainers may be fined for damages to civilian structures, and should always battle in designated battling areas. - #8Within Plain Sightselective
Keys: legendaries, legendary, mythical, myths

MANY LEGENDARY POKEMON: Can take on human forms. They'll often have some or few visual attributes to their pokemon forms. They can form in and out of both forms. Many have pointed ears, but some normal humans have pointed ears too. It is common that some are mute, but many are capable of speaking.
-
LEGENDARY POKEMON CAPABLE OF POLYMORPHING TO HUMAN FORMS CAN REPRODUCE WITH HUMANS: But, there is a catch to it. Some pokemon, where there is only one of them (Arceus/Giratine/Palkia/Dialga/Raquaza, ect. ect.) will have human offspring. Other legendary pokemon who are known to reproduce (Latios/Latias/Celebi/Lugia ect.) will have legendary offspring of themselves, but born in human form. </Legendary_polymoprhing>
