Backstory(Steven had an older brother, Mike, who was also his former rival. In the Pokemon universe, animals do not exist, since Pokemon are the animals, pets, and pretty much replace all animals. Humans and Pokemon live in harmony. There are champions who are the best at fighting with Pokemon. Along the way, Steven and Mike get Pokemon and become friendly rivals with each other, until Steven becomes the champion of all the regions and collected all the Pokemon. His brother Mike needs a Charizard, one of Steven's most prized pokemon, in order to finish collecting all of his Pokemon, so he asks one day to trade with Steven to do so. Something happens during the trade though, and Miki ends up dieing. Unable to deal with the grief of losing a precious companion, Steven ends up strangling his brother Mike.)
