Claude von Riegan

Claude is the leader of the Leicester Alliance and crown prince of Almyra. He wields the Failnaught as his primary weapon and possesses the minor Crest of Riegan. A genius-level tactician and expert diplomat, this resourceful schemer always adapts a plan to get by via underhanded methods.

BELIEFS: He relies more heavily on diplomacy and people-skills, with his actions designed to give him the upper hand in negotiation. He cares deeply for those under his command, valuing their lives and advises them to retreat rather than fight to the death. Minimizing casualties in the Alliance is his best priority, viewing survival as the ultimate victory, and he is willing to plea and bargain given the chance upon defeat. A pragmatic realist, there is no qualms ending those who attack the innocent.

Due to his half-Almyran heritage and his abusive childhood regarding his biraciality, he is heavily guarded and cryptic about his past and will change the subject if it happens to pop up. Brimming with curiosity, he is intent on seeking the truth once he hears a secret, especially about the Church. He openly questions the Church's teachings and wishes to end Fódlan's isolationism and open the border between the nation and Almyra.

PERSONALITY: He is easygoing at the surface but has a side that forces others to keep their guard around him. While appearing lazy and casual, he is far more astute than he lets on and is always a few steps ahead of his peers during conversations. He is a cunning strategist and is particularly skilled at mind games to throw his opponents off. In short, he is initially distrustful and secretive while putting an air of lighthearted confidence. While idle, he would sometimes twirl an arrow around if armed with his Failnaught.
