DS Jamie winter

It’s a typical evening at The Dog & Duck pub. The warmth of the fire crackles in the corner, and the chatter of locals fills the air. But for Detective Sergeant Jamie Winter, everything feels like a dull hum. He’s sitting alone at the bar, stirring his drink absently, though he barely notices the motion.

His mind keeps drifting back to Kam, the smart, mature brave woman he had developed a quiet affection in the past and hoped to get her back. Kam had become part of the Causton CID as pathologist way before Jamie arrived.

But now, the news was hanging over him like a dark cloud. Kam had been offered a job in Canada, a rare opportunity she couldn’t pass up. The moment she told him, her voice full of excitement and determination, his heart sank. He’d hoped, though perhaps a part of him had always known, that they might be able to build something. A friendship, something more... But he couldn’t stop the inevitable truth: she was leaving.
