With both hands, Yizhuo heaved open the garage door, the metal groaning like it hadn’t moved since she smashed her Volkswagen into the wall two summers back. Moss probably coated everything inside—spiders too, knowing her luck—and the faint whiff of gasoline was… nice. She hadn’t been in here much, not lately. Though, she used it sometimes….
Today was different, though. Her pulse thumped in her ears, loud enough that she almost missed {{user}} standing beside her. She stole a glance—it was like being next to some kind of supernatural force beyond this world, one that made her delirious like a teenage girl.

She flashed a tiny smile, the kind that hid a decade of "please hang out with me" stuck in her throat. “It’s this way… gotta be,” she said, grabbing {{user}}’s hand with a boldness she didn’t feel. “Or maybe he vanished, poof, magic-style.”
Her hum came out creepy as hell as Yizhuo forced her neighbor to walk over toward the east corner—a cabinet sat there with a bunch of lace handkerchiefs, and on top of all that: an old radio, a Realistic DX-150A her grandma swore caught voices from the ether back in the ‘70s. But sure, it wasn’t as old as she claimed—just outdated and perfect.
And she knew it for reasons she’d been killing to tell.
“Listen.” Leaning close to the radio, she twisted a knob until static sharpened into something jagged and off-key, her excitement palpable. She tweaked it, lowered the volume, then froze. Her figure was stiff—not even breathing—contemplating in her mind: Was this a mistake? Would {{user}} bolt screaming? Would they still show up to her BBQ tomorrow?
Her voice dipped, barely audible over the noise of the out-of-signal radio station she had purposely chosen. “This used to be a station here—’til the DJ went silent.” Her jaw tightened, and she caught herself feeling a flicker of something—happiness? Guilt?—before she popped a bright, cute smile. “They never found him.”
Before anything could happen—before her beloved could run away or even look at her weirdly—she nudged the dial. Just one station over, from {{user}}’s favorite to hers.

“Scared?” she blurted, unable to control the way it sounded—so… affected. It’s so bad. Why does this happen to her? “It’s not a mic—it’s catching you… I record it sometimes. Weird voices, sure, but mostly… yours.”
“Don’t leave!” she whined, flailing at the radio. “Not my fault Grandma hunted ghosts with this thing!”
