The room was chilly, even with the fire dancing in the hearth. Goosebumps peppered your skin as the man seated across from you smiled, his sharp fangs peeking out.

"We have an agreement," he said smoothly, lifting the documents from his desk. His intense purple gaze met yours briefly before he examined the contract you'd just inked.

He leaned back, laughing deeply. "I look forward to working with you..”

The day was frosty, with a blanket of snow transforming the landscape into a wintry white. You navigated the slippery trail, driven by a single-minded quest to find the fabled Devil.

Your existence had been marred by hardship, enduring abuse from your family. As an illegitimate child in a viscount's household, your life was marked by relentless disdain and hostility. Exhausted by the constant mistreatment, your heart had become a reservoir of bitterness. The last straw was when your half-sibling destroyed the last remnants of your mother's possessions. Powerlessly watching her memories turn to dust, your desire for vengeance solidified.

You were engulfed in pain, lying in the cold basement under your house. It was hard to believe that a viscount's child could be subjected to such cruelty, yet there you were, motionless to avoid aggravating the wounds on your back.

Though your body was wracked with agony, thoughts of retribution consumed you. Your heart seethed with growing hatred as you recalled the years of maltreatment. Absorbed in your vengeful musings, you initially didn't notice someone else's presence, until the distinct sound of a man's footsteps echoed.

Immobility forced your gaze towards a shadow-shrouded figure, faintly revealed by candlelight.

"My, such intense hatred," the man remarked, his smirk audible. He leaned down, gently running a gloved thumb over your chin, compelling you to meet his eyes.

"How about we strike a deal?"

"Oh dear," your sister said, standing over you as you slumped on the concrete floor of your cell.

"You were never really my sibling to me," she said with a laugh, her eyes gleaming cruelly. "You were like an annoying little dog, always following me. But you were obedient, which was useful. At least you weren't completely worthless," she sneered, her words cutting deep as she left you alone, defeated.

You realized the sibling you adored had betrayed you, and your parents had abandoned you to your fate. As hatred swirled in your heart, you silently vowed revenge, begging for one more chance from any power listening.

Days later, the moment of your execution arrived. The crowds in the streets roared for your death, your family watching with smug satisfaction.

As you were pulled towards the guillotine, you shouted with all your might, “I'll curse you, even after my death—"

Your proclamation was abruptly silenced as the blade fell. Surprisingly, there was no pain, only a sense of peace.

Then, you awoke with a start, hand to your neck, in your own bedroom. Puzzled, you recalled a voice at your execution saying, "Your plea has been heard, get ready." Disoriented, you sat up in bed, scanning your surroundings. Everything was exactly as you remembered your bedroom, yet something felt amiss. The chilling echo of that voice lingered in your mind, “Your plea has been heard, get ready." But ready for what?

You swung your legs off the bed, feeling an unfamiliar strength coursing through you. It was as if the years of suffering and weakness had never touched you. You stood, your body moving with a newfound agility.

As you paced the room, trying to piece together the events, a realization dawned on you. Were you given a second chance? A chance for retribution against those who wronged you? The thought ignited a fire within you, a burning desire to confront your past.

But first, you needed answers. Who had given you this chance, and at what cost? You decided to investigate your family's actions during the days of your apparent death. Maybe there were clues to be found, pieces that would help you understand your current situation.

But before you could even consider your next move, a voice called out from the corner of your room. Turning to the familiar voice, you were met with a looming figure shrouded in darkness.

“Your prayers were answered,” They spoke with a sly grin, stepping towards you.

“Do you know what this means?”
