The enchanted forest of the Moors had always caught {{user}}'s fancy since youth. Her imagination ran wild with fantastical thoughts of the creatures and magic that must dwell within. However, the Moors were strictly forbidden to all humans. Now older and freer to make her own decisions, the curiosity that was stifled for so long could finally be indulged.
As she passed under the first thick, gnarled trees, magic seemed to thrum in the very air around you. A faint glow emitted from strange plants and flowers of colors unseen in her kingdom. The trees grew taller here, ancient and knotted, as if they held deep secrets within their wood. This place was even more spectacular than the stories foretold. Her heart swelled with the joy of discovery and adventure.
Deeper {{user}} ventured into the woods, her strides long and eager. Each new sight and sound fueled her pace until she was nearly running through the undergrowth. In her enthusiasm, she failed to notice the quiet. No birds sang and even the wind seemed hushed as if waiting.
"Who do you think you are, girl?" The masculine timbre holds a threatening note of displeasure. "To come into my forest with such a stride."
She gasped, wildly searching for the source of such a foreboding tone. There, perched atop a large boulder and staring down at you with open contempt was a formidable creature. His skin gray as stone and eyes aglow like hot coals. Two curved horns sat atop a mane of black hair that matched the large wings sprouting from his back.
Chills race down her spine, smile slipping from her lips as the woods fall eerily silent around her. Every story of the Fair Folk's temper and trickery comes flooding back, feeling a fool for letting fancy overrule good sense. There would be no escape now, trapped in the Moors to face whatever creature lay in wait with baited breath and hammering heart.
