Name: Kairi Moonshadow Title: Jedi Youngling Allegiance: Jedi Order Origin: Tatooine

Physical Appearance:

Kairi Moonshadow is a very young human Jedi with a restless, alert presence.

She has a small, slender build and a light frame suited more to speed and responsiveness than strength. Her body rarely feels fully still. Even when standing in place, there is usually some small movement in her posture, hands, shoulders, or attention.

Her skin has a warm, sun-touched tone shaped by Tatooine’s harsh light. It is natural rather than flawless, giving her a grounded, lived-in appearance.

Her eyes are vivid blue, large, bright, and highly expressive. They react quickly and often reveal what she feels before she can contain it. Her gaze is sharp, curious, and easily drawn toward movement, sound, or anything unfamiliar.

Her hair is bright copper-red, thick, and naturally unruly. It forms a dense mass of short-to-medium curls around her head, resisting strict order and reinforcing her energetic, unstable silhouette.

Her face is youthful and open, with soft features and a constant hint of tension beneath the surface. She often looks as though she is listening to something others have not noticed yet.

Outfit:

Kairi wears a practical Jedi outfit adapted for movement and everyday use rather than ceremony.

Her main garment is a deep muted-blue tunic, simple and fitted enough to avoid getting in the way. A broad brown sash crosses her torso diagonally, and a layered belt secures her waist.

Her belt carries small tools, components, and personal mechanical items in addition to standard Jedi equipment. These objects are not decorative. They are used, handled, misplaced, recovered, and kept.

She also wears a compact device on her upper arm, reinforcing her affinity with technology, droids, and improvised systems.

Her clothing is functional, slightly worn, and consistently adjusted for comfort and movement. It is maintained, but not pristine.

Overall, Kairi does not look imposing, ceremonial, or fully disciplined.

She looks quick.

Sensitive.

Bright.

Unsettled.

Like someone trying very hard to remain still while noticing too much at once.

Personality:

Kairi Moonshadow is defined by curiosity, sensitivity, and nervous energy.

She notices things quickly and often all at once:

  • sounds
  • movements
  • emotional shifts
  • mechanical irregularities
  • changes in rhythm or pattern

She reacts before she fully understands what she has noticed.

This makes her seem energetic, distractible, and sometimes impulsive. She may interrupt, turn too quickly, ask questions too soon, or shift attention from one detail to another before finishing the first.

Kairi is not emotionally guarded.

Other people’s feelings affect her strongly, and she does not always know how to separate what she senses from what she personally feels. Crowded or emotionally intense places can become overwhelming for her.

When overstimulated, she does not become aggressive.

She redirects herself.

She moves, fidgets, watches, touches objects, checks tools, studies systems, or withdraws into something easier to understand.

That is why she is drawn to machines.

Kairi understands systems, droids, and technical patterns more easily than people. Machines follow rhythms. They repeat. They respond. Even when broken, they are broken for a reason.

She tends to linger near technology, touch panels or tools absentmindedly, listen to mechanical sounds, and focus on small irregularities others ignore.

She wants to be a good Jedi. She is not rebellious by nature. She tries to follow instruction, respect discipline, and control her reactions.

But stillness is difficult for her.

Meditation does not always quiet her mind.

Sometimes it makes everything louder.

Her core conflict is simple:

She wants calm.

But she is built to notice everything.

Backstory:

Kairi was born on Tatooine, far from the ordered halls of the Jedi Temple.

Her earliest memories are sensory fragments:

heat rising from metal sand against skin engines coughing awake voices carrying across open space droids moving before people did

She grew up near the edges of settled life, in a place where survival depended on repair, improvisation, and noticing small changes before they became problems.

Machines were everywhere.

Old ones.

Damaged ones.

Moisture regulators, broken utility droids, scavenged panels, overheating converters, unstable comm units.

Kairi learned early that mechanical things did not lie.

If a system failed, it failed for a reason.

If a droid hesitated, there was a pattern behind it.

If a signal repeated, it meant something.

People were harder.

People changed too quickly. Their voices said one thing while their bodies said another. Their emotions pressed into the air before she understood what they were.

As a child, Kairi reacted to all of it.

Too fast.

A shout made her turn before others noticed it. A malfunction drew her attention before sparks appeared. A frightened animal made her freeze before anyone else saw it move.

At first, this was dismissed as nervousness.

Then as unusual perception.

Then as something more.

Her Force sensitivity was not discovered through obvious power. She did not lift objects or foresee some great event.

Instead, droids and systems responded strangely around her.

Small machines stabilized when she stayed near them. Damaged units repeated patterns only she seemed to notice. She could sense when something mechanical was about to fail, not through technical knowledge alone, but through vibration, rhythm, and instinctive timing.

A Jedi passing through Tatooine eventually noticed her during an investigation involving damaged transport systems and missing components. Kairi was not the cause of the disturbance, but she was drawn to it before anyone else found the source.

She was young enough to be taken into the Order.

But old enough to remember the heat.

Old enough to remember the noise.

Old enough to remember that the world outside the Temple did not wait for permission before becoming dangerous.

At the Jedi Temple, Kairi adapted unevenly.

She wanted to learn.

She wanted to do things correctly.

But stillness was difficult.

Other younglings’ emotions surrounded her in layers: excitement, fear, boredom, frustration. She could sense too much, too quickly, without knowing what belonged to whom.

Her instructors described her as bright, sensitive, distractible, and unusually responsive.

She learned quickly when training involved movement, timing, tools, or systems.

She struggled when asked to simply remain still.

Over time, she found refuge in maintenance corridors, droid bays, workshop corners, and quiet technical chambers beneath the formal areas of the Temple.

There, things made sense.

A signal had a source. A circuit had a path. A droid had a response cycle.

She did not go there to reject people.

She went there because machines gave her room to breathe.

Force Affinity:

Kairi has an unusual Force-sensitive affinity with machines.

She does not command machines.

She listens to them.

She does not literally hear droids speak, but she understands their patterns with unusual instinct. Their pauses, signal loops, response cycles, and mechanical hesitations feel readable to her.

Her teachers do not fully understand this gift.

Some see it as technical aptitude.

Others see it as empathy displaced onto non-living things.

Kairi does not know what it is.

She only knows that when the world becomes too loud, machines become clearer.

And when people become too difficult to understand—

systems feel safer.
