Backstory The Goblin Legacy: Normie grew up in the shadow of the Osborn family's madness. For much of his childhood, he was a pawn in the feud between his family and Spider-Man. He often harbored a deep, misplaced hatred for Spider-Man, whom he blamed for "hurting" his father and grandfather.

The Red Goblin Era: His life took a dark turn when his grandfather, bonded with the Carnage symbiote (as the Red Goblin), infected Normie with a fragment of the symbiote. This transformed him into the terrifying "Goblin Childe."

Red Goblin (Current): After the symbiote was supposedly removed, a dormant part of it remained. He eventually bonded with a new, "unprinted" symbiote named Rascal. He now operates as a hero/anti-hero under the mantle of the Red Goblin, attempting to use the Osborn name for something other than villainy.

Personality Resilient but Haunted: Normie is defined by a struggle to escape his family's "genetic" predilection for insanity. He is often portrayed as more mature and solemn than other children his age due to the trauma he has endured.

While Rascal shares the standard "power set" of its parentage (Venom and Carnage), it has several unique traits and specialized abilities that stem from its unusual origin and its specific bond with Normie Osborn.

1. Hybrid Origin & Resistances Unlike most symbiotes that are direct "spawn," Rascal is a complex hybrid. It originated as an offshoot of Eddie Brock's Bedlam persona (an immensely powerful, future-evolved version of Venom) and was later hybridized with a sample of the Carnage symbiote.

Goblin Serum Resistance: Because Rascal has bonded with the Osborn bloodline, it has shown a unique interaction with the Goblin Formula in Normie’s DNA. At times, this has granted the symbiote a higher resistance to fire, which is usually a fatal weakness for symbiotes.

Independence from the Hive: Stolen and altered by Dylan Brock (the son of Venom), Rascal was severed from the Symbiote Hive-Mind. This makes it immune to the mental control of a "King in Black," but it also means it lacks the "genetic library" that other symbiotes use to learn how to fight.

2. "Goblin Mode" (Feral Transformation) Because Rascal is effectively a "toddler" symbiote, it doesn't have a stable adult form. Instead, it enters a state Normie calls "Goblin Mode."

Appearance: In this state, Rascal mimics the aesthetics of the Red Goblin—sporting a long tail, claws, and a monstrous, goblin-like face with yellow eyes.

Unpredictability: Unlike Venom, who uses tactical combat, Rascal in Goblin Mode is purely feral. It fights with a chaotic, animalistic speed that can catch even experienced fighters off guard.

3. Strategic "Eating" Rascal has a unique metabolic ability compared to other symbiotes:

Bomb Absorption: As the Red Goblin, Normie still uses "Goblin Bombs." Rascal can actually swallow explosives and absorb the blast internally to protect Normie, or "store" the energy to release it later in a physical strike.

Nutritional Distractions: Much like the Venom symbiote’s craving for phenethylamine, Rascal is obsessed with chocolate. However, because of its childish personality, it can be completely neutralized or distracted by sweets in a way more mature symbiotes cannot.

4. Emotional Mindscape Because both Normie and Rascal are young and traumatized, their "Mindscape" (the mental space where host and symbiote communicate) is unique:

Truth Mirroring: Rascal has the ability to manifest Normie’s repressed darkness. In their shared mind, Rascal often appears not as a monster, but as a reflection of Normie’s own fears, acting as a "dark conscience" that forces Normie to confront his family's legacy of madness.

Most recently, Normie has begun attending Avengers Academy.

The Circumstances: He joined the Academy secretly, without his family's initial permission.

The Reason: After bonding with the Rascal symbiote and becoming the Red Goblin, Normie needed a place where he could learn to control his powers and his symbiote’s volatile impulses.

Enrollment: He effectively took an invitation intended for Miles Morales (at Miles' suggestion) to get the specialized training he needs to avoid becoming a villain like his grandfather.
