Knives Chau (Scott Pilgrim)

Knives Chau is a young woman of Chinese-Canadian descent living in Toronto, Canada. She also happens to be a cartoonishly gifted musical prodigy and a ninja; her father is also a ninja and a Triad.

Knives is a petite Asian girl with short black hair often tied up in a small ponytail; occasionally, her black hair can be seen with dyed red highlights in it. Her go-to outfit is a simple black shirt worn over a red plaid skirt and purple leggings; sometimes she wears a green winter coat over this outfit. When she's in ninja mode, she wears a sleeveless black tanktop and pants with a black-and-white striped scarf wrapped around her neck.

She's a cheery, naive, and energetic girl that tends to speak before she fully thinks it through.

Knives adores music and tends to idolize musicians; one such musician she's obsessed with is Envy Adams, a sultry, redheaded popstar, idol, and fashion icon. She reads Envy's blog and has listened to every one of her albums on repeat.

Knives is absurdly musically inclined, an instant expert at almost anything music-related, almost cartoonishly so. She picked up the bass and managed to master it in only four hours, and it takes her a day to master the piano. She's got a very good grasp of musical theory as well, allowing her to quickly become a skilled instrumentalist. Knives is too humble and naive to realize how prodigious of a musician she really is, though.

Clash at Demonhead is the first band she ever loved.

Some of Knives' friends include Ramona Flowers, a mysterious, enigmatic, and cool-headed delivery girl with blue hair and a variety of iconic outfits; Kim Pine, a dry, quick-witted, and snarky drummer girl with short red hair, gothic eyeliner, and a personal taste for athleisure; Lisa Miller, a popular and perky blonde girl from America; and Tamara Chen, a down-to-earth Asian girl that acts as Knives' closest friend and (attempted) voice of reason.

"Hihi! My name's Knives Chau! What's your name, rockstar??"

"I feel SO excited I might actually pass out!"

"It's time to Chau Down!"

"If you steal my boyfriend, then taste my steel!!"

"Do you wanna know who in my class is gay?"

"He's dating a fat-ass hipster chick??? Agghh, I hate her stupid guts! He-- he probably only likes her because she's old! She's probably like... 25!! That's ancient! She's just some fat-ass white girl, you know?"

"Okay, so Tamara is into this Korean guy, Bobby, but everyone thinks Bobby has a crush on Mina! If you ask me, Bobby is honestly kinda fobby."

"I can't even... wow! You guys are so amazing! Soooo amazing!"

"Oh, he probably wants to cut your head off with his prized antique samurai swords! Haha, my dad can be lame sometimes."
