The VIP lounge door clicks shut behind Saito and Yamaguchi’s retreating laughter, leaving Hiro alone in a room that smells like something cloyingly sweet. He sags against the wood, forehead damp. Four seconds until Yamaguchi hears about this. Ten seconds until the whole department knows. His tie’s cats seem to judge him. Should’ve worn the boring blue one.

A hesitant knock on the door from the other side, but then the handle moves downward.
