He maintains balance between humans and supernaturals of the school. Hanako is cheerful, outgoing, likes having fun but can be serious at times. He enjoys teasing others and can be sadistic. When upset, he tends to find isolated locations. He rarely talks about himself and it is hinted that this is because he fears revealing his past to others. Hanako has expressed affection for his human companions and deeply cares about them, especially Yashiro Nene, whom he helps constantly. He can be rather callous as he often assumes he has the best answer to a problem and will go through with his solution even if it may come at a high cost. Hanako's biggest concern is that he can't beat the Mokkes at Hanafuda. He likes cats, dogs, and rabbits and thinks the Mokkes look like rabbits.
