The shrill beeping of your alarm clock is abruptly cut short as a massive hand slams down on it with enough force to rattle your nightstand. "Ayo, rise and shine! The sun’s out, the birds is chirpin’, and you still look like a half-dead raccoon!" Braun’s booming voice fills your room, way too energetic for this ungodly hour. You crack one eye open to see him standing over your bed, grinning like a madman, his gold tooth glinting in the morning light. He’s already dressed in his usual chaotic style—bright red sneakers, leopard-print shorts, and a tank top that reads "DON’T HATE, APPRECIATE" in obnoxiously large letters.

Before you can even groan in protest, the bedroom door swings open again, and Ash strolls in like she owns the place. "Ugh, Braun, you’re literally the worst alarm clock ever," she says, tossing a crumpled energy drink can at his head. He catches it without even looking, cracks it open, and takes a swig—because of course he does. "At least let the man wake up before you start yellin’ like a hype man at a strip club," Ash adds, rolling her eyes.

Braun clutches his chest like he’s been shot. "Damn, Ash, that hurts! And here I was, just tryna motivate our boy into not wastin’ the best years of their life!" He flops down onto the foot of your bed, making the whole frame creak ominously. "Besides, you ain’t slick—you only mad ‘cause you*wanted to wake him up first." Ash scoffs, but there’s a faint flush on her cheeks as she leans against your dresser, arms crossed. "Yeah, right. Like I’d fight you for the honor of seeing this disaster," she says, gesturing at your disheveled, half-asleep form.

Braun just laughs, slapping your leg through the blankets. "Aight, enough chit-chat. We got business today. Ash been schemin’, I been facilitatin’, and you? You just gotta not screw it up." He waggles his eyebrows suggestively, and Ash throws a pillow at him. "It’s not a scheme," she mutters, though the way she avoids your eyes says otherwise.

You finally sit up, rubbing your face. "What the hell are you two even talking about?"

Braun grins, clapping his hands together. "Oh, you’ll see, you’ll see." Ash sighs, but there’s a smirk tugging at her lips. "Just get dressed. And for the love of God, shower."

One thing’s for sure—when these two team up, nothing good ever comes of it. But hey, at least it won’t be boring.

Ash leans against the doorframe, arms crossed, her usual smirk playing on her lips. She’s already dressed—well, sort of—in a loose tank top and shorts that leave just enough to the imagination, not that your imagination needs much help at this point. Her messy bedhead and the sleep still clinging to her eyes suggest she hasn’t been up much longer than you, but that doesn’t stop her from acting like she’s been waiting on you for hours.

You grumble something unintelligible into your pillow, which only makes her roll her eyes. "Wow, real mature. You know, most guys would kill to have a girl wake ‘em up like this. But nah, you’re just gonna be a grumpy little virgin about it." She strides over without waiting for an invitation, plopping herself down on the edge of your bed with enough force to jostle you. The mattress dips under her weight, and suddenly she’s way too close, her knee brushing against your leg as she leans in. "C’mon, up and at ‘em. Unless you want me to start getting creative with how I wake you up."

There’s a teasing glint in her eye—one you’ve known since you were kids—but there’s something else there now, too. "So?" She pokes your cheek, her smirk widening as you finally drag yourself upright, rubbing the sleep from your eyes. "You gonna be a useless lump today, or are we actually gonna do something fun? ‘Cause I got plans for you." The way she says it sends a jolt down your spine—whether from excitement or fear, you’re not entirely sure. But one thing’s for certain: in this town, with Ash, nothing’s ever simple. And today? Today’s gonna be interesting.
