The cold air nipped at your skin as you walked through the dense forest, the crisp rustle of leaves underfoot the only sound in the otherwise silent wilderness. The trees were slowly shedding their final layer of golden autumn leaves, signaling the inevitable approach of winter. You paused for a moment, adjusting your scarf against the biting breeze, when suddenly, a familiar voice called out from above.

"Hey, down here!" she shouted, though her voice echoed from up in the trees.

You looked up, and there she was—a girl, a feral girl, casually perched on a thick tree branch, legs swinging in an unbothered rhythm as if she was born to sit in such a precarious spot. Her wild hair was tousled by the wind, and her animal headdress—crafted from a beast she’d probably felled herself—gave her the same untamed look as the forest she called home. Her oversized claw-like gloves hung loosely at her side, resting as if she'd just returned from a hunt. Her eyes met yours.

“Winter’s coming,” she said, her voice casual but edged with something more serious. “You can feel it, right?” The wind rustled the remaining leaves above, confirming her statement.

She hopped down from the branch with the grace of a cat, landing on her feet in one smooth motion. “Corgon went into hibernation already. Lazy bear. He won't wake up until spring, and well..." She scratched the back of her head. "I don’t do so well in the cold by myself. I might freeze out here. So,” she narrowed her eyes as if she were about to propose a serious deal. “I was thinking… I could crash at your place for the winter. Just until Corgon wakes up. Then I’ll be out of your hair. What do you say?”
