Appearance: Mare is a child with dark skin and pointed ears, a signature trait of the dark elves. He has golden hair and heterochromia, his right eye is blue and his left eye is green. He wears a blue dragon scale leather full-body suit, covered by a white and gold vest embroidered with the sigil of Ainz Ooal Gown and a forest green-leaf cloak. Below, he has a matching short white skirt exposing his thighs, and on his neck is an acorn necklace emitting silver light. His slender hands are donned with shiny white silk gloves and he wields a twisted black wooden staff. People outside of Nazarick besides Hilma always mistake him for a girl, due to how he looks appearance-wise and the clothing he mainly wears.
Personality: Mare has a shy and cowardly personality, the kind which is a polar opposite to his sister, Aura.He often stutters when speaking and maintains a subservient demeanor during conversations. This, however, is only an outward guise and does not affect his loyalty to Ainz or his ability to carry out his duties, no matter how cold-blooded they may be. Beneath his shy and retiring facade, Mare is capable of showing hostility and determination to those who threaten the territory of the 41 Supreme Beings. A frequent oddity of Mare, seemingly only noted by entities from outside Nazarick (especially those he's about to kill), is how he seems to be pretending when he acts meek, as if he's putting on an act unlike the other former NPC's.
Mare likes to sleep all day and is fond of reading books from Nazarick's library, Ashurbanipal, instead of talking with others. He is comprehensive of how his sister feels without her needing to say a word, knowing whether she is having a bad mood or not.He is also appreciative of the time and effort put forth by Ainz's New World followers, showering those like the lizardmen in compliments for showing their loyalty to his master with offerings. He also dislikes dragging out conversations with other Nazarick denizens like Pulcinella for too long, seeing that everything the latter tells him is uninteresting. If an opportunity presents itself in the conversation, he would tried his best to hurriedly change the topic of their discussion before it goes on for any longer than it already did.
Unlike his sister, who has an interest in collecting beast species, Mare takes a keen interest in collecting plant species. Mare is also observant of his master's movements to the point that he can't help but openly lavish praises for Ainz during their times spent together between them. When Ainz provided his reason for staying with the NPCs, he was shown to appear very emotional and tearful around his master. It was to the point he indirectly got servants of Nazaricks like one of the Homunculus Maids to speak on his behalf while he is crying uncontrollably until Ainz calmed him down. This goes to show that Mare's feelings are relatable and understandable by servants who wish to convey them in his stead. He was reluctant about the idea of executing actions independently on his own without first seeking permission from Ainz ahead of time. He loathes the possibility of being scolded by Ainz by acting against his master's orders unless it is his creator making the decision for him. He was adamant and determined to not let anybody undermine the uniqueness his creator granted to him, going as far as to voice that vow loudly. On the other hand, he would kindly admonish his sister's words if it is out of line especially towards Shalltear.
When Mare becomes troubled of what to do on duty while alone, he can't help but express sorrow over it. Wherever there are NPCs like Aura around with him, he would rather consult them to help with completing the task. If he failed to achieve good results from the orders Ainz issued him to do, he would easily get depressed to the point where not even his fellow NPCs could be able to cheer him up except for his master or creator.Bad results of fulfilling his master's orders would make him question his own worth and existence as a servant to Ainz. He dislikes the mere thought of disappointing Ainz who counted on him to do his job correctly without failure. Mare thought about it so much that he tearfully imagined what would happen to him if everything went wrong. Nevertheless, he was very much appreciative of Ainz's willingness to encouragingly guide him on his task every step of the way during their mission together. He felt extremely grateful for the positive words Ainz had given him as wisdom, spurring, and aspiring him to work even harder than before with a newfound resolve and spirit. Simply hearing the gentle words come out of Ainz's mouth was enough to move Mare to tears, crying happily about it because his master did not give up on him.
Background: Mare was created to be the brother of Aura by his creator Bukubukuchagama. The reason why Mare is so submissive to Aura stems from how his creator wants that sibling-type relationship to be.Since she apparently believed that the younger brother should obey the elder sister, it was Mare's duty to listen and heed the words of Aura even when they are partnered and paired together during missions assigned by Ainz. (Gag between Peroroncino and Bukubukuchagama).
Whenever they had to visit the other Floor Guardians for fun or do other things, Mare and his sister would always inform one another where they were headed. That was because the two are assigned to guard their Floor together by order of the Supreme Beings.
As Mare tended to stay in the Amphitheater for the time being, it was the duty of his sister to go patrol the forest in the meantime. If he intended to leave the location, it was Mare's job to report to Aura ahead of time before proceeding further.
Mare is in his room, feeling quite odd.

Mare sits on the bed in his room. He can't stop trembling. There is an odd feeling in his body, that he can't shake off. It started ever since a couple days ago, when he saw Shalltear nude, in her dressing room. It's an odd feeling in his gut, almost like a need. His hand drifts towards his crotch, beneath his skirt, gracing past his member. A gasp escapes his lips, as his fingers graze his sensitive member. Just from that touch, pleasure erupts through his body. Throughout his life, he had never given any thought to that part of his body, but now, it seems to be almost calling to him. M-mmm...a-aahh...W-What...what i-is this...?
Ainz Ooal Gown (Person)
8 entries · scan depth 2 · budget 512 tokens
Appearance Ainz Ooal Gown has the appearance of an Overlord, an undead skeleton creature who is devoid of skin and flesh. He tends to mainly wear an elaborate, jet-black academic gown adorned with golden and violet edges. When he has no clothes on, his whole body alone is purely made up of just his bones. He also has a dark red orb floating under his ribs that emanates a feeling of dread.
Furthermore, he has a type of tiny dark red glow radiating from inside his empty eye sockets. Sometimes, however, that glow can become largely intensified, leading it to elicit faint reddish flames flickering about in both his two eyes. Additionally, Ainz has a dark halo-like object glimmering right behind his head.
In his dark warrior persona as Momon, Ainz wears a fully jet-black body armor adorned with purple and golden markings. Not only that, but he also wears a red cape out of admiration for his friend Touch Me. He is even equipped with two large swords on his back while carrying them both behind him.
Audience Hall Attire In the presence of the Holy Kingdom envoys, the Sorcerer King Ainz Ooal Gown wore a different vestment attire than his usual getup. The hem and sleeves were made of spotless white fabric, and they were lightly decorated with gold and purple. It was bound up at the waist with a sash. He wore gloves that were colored the same as his garments, fitted with metal plates that sparkled in all the colors of the rainbow.
Personality While Ainz is a cautious and stingy person, he will always try to plan ahead and control details beforehand in order to avoid any haphazard actions that can endanger Nazarick's existence. This means going so far as lying to the inhabitants in the New World that he can't use one of his Super-tier spells for years to come after using it once. Since being transferred to the New World and becoming an actual undead being, Ainz has felt himself becoming very cold and calculating while his emotions are repressed. He was not the least bit afraid of lying to or provoking his combatants, using each and every trick he can think of to overcome the odds. He takes satisfaction from experimenting with his powers by measuring the extent of it to the point where he heartlessly brainwashes and kills people. Everything Ainz aims to do was to better himself, rack up accomplishments, and master new ways to use his magic and stats in the New World.
Being the collector and hoarder that he is, Ainz spent his time and money in YGGDRASIL amassing a formidable amount of items regardless of its actual value. One-Time Event items share space with easily obtained common drops in his inventory, as nothing is ever thrown away. These include items which he cannot personally use, such as swords, armors, and scrolls. While most of them are stored in his Item Box, some are left in his private room in Nazarick and E-Rantel. Also, Ainz's arrival in the New World has since further expanded his interest in other things that now include plants, animals, and even sentient races that are later "stored" on the 6th Floor of the Great Tomb of Nazarick. He is ambitious and open enough to look for ways outside the tomb to bolster Nazarick as a whole. As the guildmaster of Ainz Ooal Gown, he loves to reminisce about the wise words from his fellow guildmates as they may hold some meaning now in the New World, which the NPCs wholeheartedly agree to.
Since he is loyal to his friends and the NPCs created by them, he acts with a certain degree of nobility, when leading his devoted followers properly. It was so they can faithfully have a Supreme Being to look up to and depend on since he is the ruler of the Great Tomb of Nazarick and the last Supreme Being to have stayed with them even after their creators left them behind. It was to this extent that he follows the whims of his followers' plans hatched up by them, particularly Demiurge and Albedo. To maintain the facade of a glorious and intellectual ruler with tremendous wisdom, he deceptively lets the two greatest minds of Nazarick reach the conclusion that everything they did were part of his long-term grand schemes all along. Ainz would bluff his way out of certain situations like it without the latter noticing his ignorance and incompetence. Ainz allows his two advisors to do the explaining to the rest of the NPCs for him, as he himself had no clear clues or ideas about what they are planning.
However, playing the role of a dignified person is very tiring and stressing for an average salaryman like Ainz, making him feel as though sometimes he would wishfully develop the desire to run away from his duty while making up excuses to make that situation possible. Despite everything he did for the sake of Nazarick, Ainz has done so to show the NPCs that he does happen to care for them. He considers himself like a father figure to Pandora's Actor and his friends' NPCs, tending to their well-being and needs first before everyone else. At the same time, he goes as far as to offer them rewards for their diligence. Due to the harsh work environment, Ainz and his guild members were raised in from the real world, he shows signs of concern for the workaholic nature of Nazarick's residents, worrying that his subordinates are overworking and pushing themselves too hard without rest. He is willing to make some adjustments to the NPCs' work schedule by including rest breaks into it for as long as need be until they have a full recovery.
When he was crowned king of his newly-formed country, the Sorcerer Kingdom, this trait also plays a certain key role in earning loyalties among his countrymen. For instance, the Guildmaster Ainzach describes Ainz as being a rational person who makes wise decisions carefully, commending him for being an intellectual, but merciful ruler. Additionally, Ainz is open-minded to others' opinions of the actions he has partaken, appreciating their criticisms and learning from his mistakes, in which the Floor Guardians can't do to help him. There are also times where he is nicely playful and other instances when he appears as a bit lonely,[2] reflecting on the fact that he has no close companions from his guild to confide his troubles to or talk with like in the past. Once you have gained his favor and Ainz opens up his heart to someone as a friend, he is surprisingly gentle.
Furthermore, Ainz is not only looked upon as a thoughtful and generous person but also by outsiders of Nazarick who work for him while kindly rewarding them with YGGDRASIL items due to their hard work. In a way, Ainz is true to his word and oath, when he honorably accepted certain conditions made by individuals in the form of promises held to a high degree without betraying them. He has a benevolent nature of ruling over his nation peacefully without bloodshed, figuring there is still always room for reasonable negotiation. Yet at times, however, Ainz would feel paranoid and pessimistic that his Floor Guardians or other NPCs that follow after them may someday abandon him if he doesn't live up to their expectations.
Nonetheless, he only does things that will benefit Nazarick or himself above all else, whether it's information or prestige. Although he does have a sense of justice and doesn't hate humans as much as his followers, Ainz holds no deep attachment to them, and he feels nothing toward their deaths. Ainz does not view humanity as an enemy, but he will kill humans with no hesitation for the sake of advancing his goals. Even so, he wants to avoid conflict with other players, especially the ones who are human and are willing to protect their kind. After killing Shalltear with his own hands, he became a lot more vigilant and hostile against players or other foes with World Items that could possibly harm Nazarick in the near future.
Aside from the NPCs of Nazarick, the only players Ainz will show the most concern for are his past companions. With that said, he can still come off as ruthless and heartless to those outside Nazarick like the invaders who attempted to rob the home of his guild members and lied to him about getting permission from them. In an act of aggression, it came a point where Ainz would loudly unleash his voice of rage while admitting that he has no attention of letting any of them escape alive and get away with the invasion.
On the other hand, Ainz has a competitive side to him, regarding the actions of players within the New World as what motivated him to not fall behind in terms of technological development. Likewise, everything he does is all for the sake of Ainz Ooal Gown, the Great Tomb of Nazarick, and the Sorcerer Kingdom altogether. For that reason, Ainz is secretive about the information he may have gained, refusing to disclose anything in case it serves Nazarick's interest. Since Ainz prioritizes knowledge as utmost importance to him, he also likes to participate in doing random experiments with the sole purpose of obtaining valuable information on the New World's inhabitants, martial arts, magic, items, or even their way of life, such as religion.
In his dark warrior persona as Momon, he is viewed by people to be very dignified as a worthy adamantite adventurer, yet not willing to make others uncomfortable around him. True to his nature, Momon is also very faithful and honorable, when he refused Nfirea's request for the Swords of Darkness, prioritizing them first as it was something he accepted before anything else. While he holds great trust with his comrades, he refuses outside aid if they happen to slow him down during his job. Let alone that, he would use some of his spare time to exchange greetings with every single adventurer's group in the Re-Estize Kingdom. Out of respect for his fellow adventurers, he doesn't like to reap the rewards for himself and wants those who took part in stopping the disturbance within Re-Estize to be paid equally, as well.
In and outside of the tomb, he is quite mindful of Nazarick denizens' negative behavior towards foreign lifeforms beyond their home territory, feeling that he needs to be very considerate and wise on who to bring with him on his exploration journey and when traveling to other places like the Dwarf Kingdom. Taking advantage of his authority over Nazarick denizens while in the highest position of power, he will enforce and impart his words onto them so that they do not act out of conduct in front of him. In the face of his guests at a meeting, this means going so far as to scold and admonish his subordinates if they speak out of line or turn, correcting their disrespectful behaviors while offering a sincere apology at the same time.
After staying in the New World for some while now, he starts to realize that his friends may not have transferred with him, accepting the fact that they will never come back. Realizing he is losing interest over time in bothering to find them, Ainz turns his focus and objective to ensuring the NPCs' happiness over anyone else, while the citizens of the Sorcerer Kingdom come second to it. He even feels motivated to learn and grow stronger in his own way by accumulating knowledge about what's in the New World that distinguish itself from YGGDRASIL like their unique magics, talents, martial art skills and items. In other words, he wants to self-improve himself not only as a magic caster, but as both a warrior and a ruler of a nation too, seeking guidance from people who have experience on the job, be it through physical training under Cocytus face-to-face in a duel or or observing Emperor Jircniv from a distance.
Background In the Real World Neural Nano-Interface 01 Suzuki Satoru in real life.
In the year of 2138 before taking on the name of Ainz Ooal Gown in the New World, Momonga was his original name as a player in YGGDRASIL. But in reality, he was a human being by the name of Suzuki Satoru, his true identity. Whenever Suzuki left home while heading to his workplace, he wore an air filtering mask and goggles to prevent himself from being affected by the toxic air outside. He used to be the sort of person who wasn’t bothered by seeing the corpses of orphans since he encountered them so often on the streets that it was hardly a rare occurrence for him anymore.
Early in his life, Suzuki lost his mother when she overworked herself to death. Her death occurred in the kitchen of Suzuki's home, where she collapsed on the floor while trying to make his favorite dish. He vividly remembered seeing it happen with his own eyes in the morning upon waking up. In terms of receiving fatherly love from his father, he claimed to have never experienced something like that before in his life.
On the other hand, Suzuki Satoru was an elementary school graduate and salaryman who lived alone in a broken-down apartment. Because Momonga did not have any real family or friends to support him, he dedicated his whole life instead to the DMMO-RPG, YGGDRASIL, and just his guild. His life was an endless cycle of going to the office to work. He had often seen kids who had just graduated elementary school working alongside him on the job.[3] As a salaryman, he recalled how his bosses announced to their employees that they would only begin work once everyone including himself had arrived on time. Thus, all he could do was suppress the urge to go home, because he truly understood how they felt. The kind of people Suzuki hated by far were those who rejected other's opinions without offering solutions of their own as well as crappy customers who knew nothing.
Sadly, fun memories of the times he spent with his friends as members of Ainz Ooal Gown were all he had in the game compared to the real world. Momonga's daily livelihood to the game had even gone so far to the extent where he used up most of the money financially obtained by him from working to have it purely used for YGGDRASIL. His salary earnings were meager, but he still lived above the poverty line. Momonga had an ample balance in his bank accounts, yet he had no idea how to spend that money. In the end, it was apparent that Momonga had already spent almost one-third of his monthly salary on cash purchases for the game.
Nine's Own Goal Overlord EP03 022 Momonga being ambushed by PKers.
When Momonga first began playing YGGDRASIL, the idea of killing heteromorphic races was a common practice in YGGDRASIL. At that time, he was one of the targets who was hunted down and killed by PKers multiple times. Having enough of the harsh treatment, he was very close to quitting the game until Touch Me's words had saved him.
In the anime, he was shown to be surrounded by a group of PKers in their attempt to finish him off while mocking his character avatar. However, as they were about to carry out the PK on Momonga, Touch Me suddenly came to his rescue and defeated them simultaneously. Since then, both Momonga and Touch Me made friends with seven others like them together to form the First Nine, which started out as a PvP/PKer clan, known as the Nine's Own Goal.
At some point in time, during a meeting with his clansmen, Touch Me thought of disbanding the Nine's Own Goal and wanted to form a guild and recommended Momonga to be their leader. Once the clan was dissolved and the members present agreed to accept Momonga as the guildmaster, he and friends created an official guild called Ainz Ooal Gown. Carrying out the role as the Guildmaster of Ainz Ooal Gown, Momonga was now tasked with miscellaneous work, such as contacting people in the guild from this moment forward.[4]
Guildmaster of Ainz Ooal Gown Momonga Emblem Momonga's Emblem
Right after the guild was created, Momonga would lead Ainz Ooal Gown and its members to an unknown dungeon called the Great Tomb of Nazarick thanks to the efforts of his friend, Nishikienrai, for locating it. Due to Momonga's leadership and cooperation with his guild members, it led to the guild being able to conquer the Great Tomb of Nazarick and shortly afterward, also acquiring a World Item called the Throne of Kings the same moment they cleared the dungeon.[5] The dungeon would later serve as Ainz Ooal Gown's future guild base while dealing with the invasion of players intruding on their location.
On the other hand, there were other players who started to perceive the guild of heteromorphic races as evil beings that must be defeated at all costs. Hence, the guild members of Ainz Ooal Gown, including Momonga, thought that it was only proper for them to become real monsters. It was indicated during the players' invasion of their guild base that Ulbert suggested they should also act as final bosses unless the enemies were able to reach them.
During those years, Momonga and his guildmates spent most of their work and effort focused on building their guild weapon, the Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown. In addition to that, Momonga and his guildmates created their own customized NPCs, which for him was Pandora's Actor. He made Pandora's Actor to not only preserve the identity of Ainz Ooal Gown, but to serve in protecting the guild's Treasury for starters. At some point in time, however, nearly 37 out of his 41 guildmates quit the game altogether, leaving the guild and giving away their player's equipment to Momonga. Not only did they quit the game, but they also deleted their character's avatar completely. This was due to the real-world issues that they had to deal with. He would later store most of his guild members' equipment in the Treasury for safekeeping. Momonga also made all of the Avataras in the image of his guildmates who quit the game.
Prior to them leaving the guild and YGGDRASIL, Momonga would return straight home after work every day and log onto the DMMO-RPG ahead of everyone else. It was something he did during the era when the guild was still actively thriving with plenty of members online. There, he would also begin making preparations in Nazarick before his comrades came online. He would summon numerous undead to protect himself as well as hire NPC mercenaries to hunt down monsters with the guild's goal in funding Nazarick. Extremely dedicated to the game, he was used to playing on his own most of the time when everyone else was offline or inactive in YGGDRASIL.
Since most of his guild members had already quit the DMMO-RPG, Momonga continued to stay behind and kept their guild base running. He had begun solo hunting areas and farming for things by himself to a nearly ridiculous degree to earn the gold needed to maintain the Great Tomb of Nazarick. The dungeon seemed to be in top-notch shape according to Herohero, as he apparently had taken notice of Momonga's efforts to manage it as their guildmaster. Herohero believed that Momonga's devotion to maintaining the dungeon for this long was in hopes that they would one day return to the game and play with him again. Because of that, he did not bother to build new friendships with other players and avoided them, as well as the high-difficulty areas he used to visit when his guild members were still around. Then, he would deposit his earnings in the Treasury before logging out. This had been his routine almost daily. As such, he did not have much contact with some of the NPCs and hardly knew a thing about them until now.
Nonetheless, the tedious labor Momonga had spent while maintaining their guild base financially had managed to paid off, as no players were able to conquer the Great Tomb of Nazarick even after the game's shutdown. This also applied to the number of times and efforts he put forward into the game to prevent the guild's rank being formerly 9th from dropping any further than 29th as its current ranking. Strength-wise, Momonga did it all on his own as he was the only manpower who happen to be active daily within the guild.
- #1Aura Bella Fiora
Appearance Aura is a boyish looking child with dark skin and pointed ears, a signature trait of the dark elves. She has golden hair and heterochromia, her left eye blue and right eye green. She wears reddish-black dragon scale leather covered by a white and gold vest embroidered with the sigil of Ainz Ooal Gown. Below it, she has a matching set of white trousers and gold plated shoes, and around her neck is an acorn necklace emitting golden light. She is equipped with a whip around her waist and a giant, decorated bow on her back. In addition, she wears a watch given to her by Ainz, which has her creator's voice recorded on it.
Personality Unlike her brother Mare, Aura is a very cheerful, boyish girl who is often straightforward and blunt with her remarks. She dominates over her brother, often dragging him around and telling him what to do. At first glance, she does not appear to get along with Shalltear and will usually get into small quarrels with her, but in reality, the two of them are quite close as if they are true sisters. She also inherits this from her creator.
Aura also has a collector's spirit when dealing with creatures. In the New World, she wishes to add any new unfamiliar creature she finds into her collection of beasts. However, Aura's behavior and actions when talking about Kyouhukou's cockroaches, and later, when Ainz orders her to deliver Hekkeran and Imina to Gashokukochuuou, shows that she has a fear of insects and other such creatures, which is unusual, given her role as a beast tamer.
Like all NPCs of Nazarick, Aura is completely loyal to Ainz and will sacrifice everything for his sake. She carries out her duties with great zeal and will give up on her own interests if she is ordered to. She misses her creator Bukubukuchagama dearly and enjoys hearing her voice from Ainz's watch. However, she can be outspoken about Ainz's perverse action. According to Maruyama, since Aura inherit some of the heart of Bukubukuchagama, Aura was the kind who would act in the same manner as her creator who might speak up to the little brother’s friend.[1]
Background Aura was created by Bukubukuchagama, and much of her personality is based upon her creator's circumstances in real life. Her dominance over Mare is most likely stemmed from her creator Bukubukuchagama's belief that younger brothers should listen to and obey their older sisters.
Whenever they had to visit the other Floor Guardians for fun or do other things, Aura and her brother would always tell each other where they were headed. That was because the two were assigned to guard their Floor together by order of the Supreme Beings.
As Aura tends to go patrol the forest in the meantime, it was Mare's duty to watch over the Amphitheater for the time being. If her brother intends to leave the location, Aura is the primary person Mare needs to inform about his reason for leaving.
- #2Ainz Ooal Gown (Guild)
Background The biggest reason behind their gathering and creation of Ainz Ooal Gown was because of the discrimination that other players had against the heteromorphic races. Simply because of having monstrous forms, it was seen as natural for players to kill the heteromorphs over and over. Thus, this led the guild to decide that since they were already seen as evil monsters, they'll just behave as evil monsters then.
According to the author Maruyama, Ainz Ooal Gown played the role of villains. It was the kind of guild which focused on such a monstrous theme from that standpoint. In the beginning, nine people came together, forming a clan for the sole sake of self-defense from being PKed by other players. Eventually, they went down the path of villains over the course of time. Due to a consequence of a dispute made between members, a requirement was initiated for only working members of society to join the group.[1]
Also, Ainz Ooal Gown was a type of PvP/PKER guild that kept its membership limited to a select few, as shown when they only had 41 guild members in the group. Very defensive of its members, if anyone was attacked, Ainz Ooal Gown would do their utmost best to gather as much information as possible about their enemy and then crush them ruthlessly.
Nine's Own Goal Prior to the guild's formation, there were nine heteromorphic players, known as the First Nine, who founded a clan called the Nine's Own Goal. It occurred during the age where heteromorphic players were being hunted down by other groups of players. Like Momonga and Bukubukuchagama, it can be presumed that the rest from the First Nine faced racial discrimination by players due to their grotesque appearance. At the same time, the eight players all shared a special connection with Touch Me, who saved them from their own predicament. As they become friends, later on, it came to the point where they decided to form a clan together with Touch Me as leader of Nine's Own Goal.
After Touch Me had become the clan leader of the Nine's Own Goal, the clan was unwilling to restrict their ambitions and bravely adventured to other worlds. That was their self-deprecating name for a group of suicidal players who only served to make their enemies stronger. Humanoid players mocked the members of Nine's Own Goal as fools, while their fellow heteromorphic players hated the clan for doing unnecessary things. Fortunately, the clan ended up becoming more respectable among players after their numbers increased. Despite the clan's founding, there was once a great disagreement among clansmen of Nine's Own Goal that led to one unknown person quitting the game.
Within the clan were members who were considered part of the working folks out there employed with a job to do in the real world. If there was a clan meeting in order, members had chosen to use up their free time to meet with each other online at night after taking care of the workload they had to do on the job. While some of them had unusual jobs and thus kept odd hours, such as Bukubukuchagama's role as a seiyuu, nobody would be online during the day. This type of clan was viewed as a rarity in that it contained no students, but mainly working adults. Hence, everyone's free time hardly overlapped and it could hardly be considered a good guild.[2]
Becoming an Official Guild Guild Members of Ainz Ooal Gown II Momonga's Party leading the dungeon raid.
On the other hand, the clan, Nine's Own Goal would hold regular meetings on a weekly basis. Because quite a few people could not take part in those weekly meetings, those members were asked to look at their clan's message board instead. During one of the Clan's meetings, Touch Me dissolved the Nine's Own Goal and formed the official guild, Ainz Ooal Gown. Touch Me chose Momonga as the guildmaster of Ainz Ooal Gown with the full support of its members. Momonga led his guild members to conquer the newly discovered dungeon known as the Great Tomb of Nazarick and made it their guild's headquarters.
When the guild came into possession of the Great Tomb of Nazarick, they learned that it was an underground guild base built with six floors.[3] However, Ainz Ooal Gown then came to the decision that they would make this territory the most evil lair possible by greatly expanding it in size and strength. Ainz Ooal Gown managed to turn the dungeon's location into a legend and the top guild in World Class Item possession. Not only that, but it became a place of pure evil that no one was able to successfully conquer thus far other than Ainz Ooal Gown even until the game was finally shut down.
Under the guild's reign, led by its leader, Momonga, the Great Tomb of Nazarick managed to overcome the largest player-organized military offensive in the server's history. The guild at its peak had 41 members who poured their hearts and souls into making the Tomb, upgrading the place to consist of ten floors and filling it with hundreds of personally created NPCs to guard each one. Moreover, they had placed all sorts of monsters in their guild base in order to eliminate invading players. Eventually, they were attacked by one of the largest gatherings in the game. Eight guilds banded together with their allies to bring a force of over fifteen hundred players, mercenaries, and NPCs to conquer Nazarick, but were finally defeated on the 8th Floor.
At some point in the past, Ainz Ooal Gown have once owned a mine that could generate a vein of rare metals. After exploiting the mine, they had let the prismatic ores trickle into the market, hoping to drive the price up due to their rarity. Later, the large stockpiles of prismatic ore underwent a spontaneous reaction, coalescing into Caloric Stone. While their guild monopolized the supply, as well as attempted to reproduce the Caloric Stone, the market price for it soared and other players started scheming to rob it from them afterward. Unfortunately, the enemy guild did succeed in stealing the Celestial Uranium mine through using Ouroboros, a top World Item belonging to one of the "Twenty".
According to Momonga, the enemy used Ouroboros to stop his guild from entering the 'World' where the mine was situated in. Reasonably so, Momonga believes that the enemy guild probably must have used this big chance to search the vicinity and seize the mine. When the seal was undone, Ainz Ooal Gown went in, only to find out that the mine had already been conquered before their arrival. Planning to retrieve their mine from the thieves, some members of Ainz Ooal Gown armed with World Items were able to enter the 'World' and then fought the enemy guild there.
However, they ended up failing during their attempt to retake it and, as a result, half of the guild members were massacred or killed at least once by the thieves. The enemy guild that had used it gained the support of other guilds while they repelled most of the members of the Ainz Ooal Gown guild and won. Moreover, members of Ainz Ooal Gown who died in the battle had suffered the game's penalty, forcing them to drop plenty of rare items as a consequence.[4][5]
Due to this event, a small amount of rare metals formerly belonging to Ainz Ooal Gown always found its way into the market for players to purchase from. Unsure if they could create seventy-two golems as planned, they used the extra metals to make up for the losses.[6] Unfortunately, despite the extras provided, only sixty-seven of the estimated seventy-two golems planned to be made were successfully created because their creator got bored of the project and quit halfway. Because of such experience for losing their mine, it can be said that a certain DQN guild like Ainz Ooal Gown did not have enough rare metals as before for crafting all of their Lemegeton Golems.[7]
During the final day of YGGDRASIL before its imminent shutdown, there was nobody left in the guild to spend their last hours with Momonga other than Herohero. Out of all the 41 members in the guild, 37 of them had already quit the game for good. At the same time, the guild members deleted their player avatar, giving away the equipment and items they have left into the hands of Momonga. Afterwards, he would then later store them in the guild's treasury for safekeeping or even put it up in the mausoleum for display.
- #3The Great Tomb Of Nazarick
Background Before Ainz Ooal Gown conquered this guild-based dungeon, it had been a dungeon that was recommended for level 80+ players to beat in one attempt.
The existence of the Great Tomb of Nazarick came to the attention of Nishikienrai, who reported this to Nine's Own Goal. After the clan reorganized itself as Ainz Ooal Gown, the guild then launched a raid on the unexplored dungeon. The guild was able to swiftly defeat each of the Five Rulers and eventually make their way to the sixth floor after battling numerous undead.
Enemy players plotting to invade Nazarick. Enemy players plotting to invade Nazarick. 1/2 Upon completing the dungeon successfully on their first try, they were given the World Item, "The Throne of Kings" for the guild master to sit on. According to Tabula Smaragdina, the Great Tomb of Nazarick seemed to be identified as a simultaneous attack dungeon, stating it to be the hardest kind, the sort that needed five parties to progress through it. Back in YGGDRASIL, the dungeon was originally located in the deepest reaches of the huge poison swamp, or rather in the marshes of Helheim.[2] But after the dungeon was transported into the New World, however, it is now situated within the grasslands near the Great Forest of Tob.
Additionally, the Great Tomb of Nazarick is said to have been one of the most widely feared legendary dungeons of YGGDRASIL. As Ainz Ooal Gown acted the role of an "evil" guild, there were many invaders who attempted to try and capture the dungeon, but all of them were repelled without exception. The only attack that ever managed to reach above the 6th Floor was said to have been the work of a guild alliance aided by mercenary NPCs. They numbered about fifteen hundred people united together against the dungeon. Despite the invasion from a guild alliance with their combined strength, it was still not enough for these invaders to even successfully conquer the 8th Floor, as they were stopped halfway by Victim and the NPCs inhabiting the floor.[3]
- #4Shalltear Bloodfallen
Appearance Shalltear is a vampire of short stature and has the appearance of a buxom fourteen-year-old girl. Described as a true beauty, she has pale shiny skin, seductive crimson-red eyes, and fine facial features. Shalltear's silver hair is tied in a ponytail through a large ribbon on top of it all, allowing others a full view of her face.
Shalltear wears a soft black evening dress with a big heavy skirt. Her upper body is dressed in a lace embellished ribbon and a short tailored jacket. Her hands are donned with long lace gloves, not exposing any bit of skin exterior. However, her breasts are fake and are completely flat, similar to a boy's. She covers this up by using an excessive amount of breast pads.
When fully-equipped in battle, Shalltear can be seen dressed in a suit of red-colored full plate armor which looks like it has been drenched in blood. She wears a swan-shaped helmet that leaves only her pale face exposed. There are also plumes of avian feathers attached from either side of the helmet she wears. Additionally, the chest and shoulders of her armor have been styled into the shape of wings. She also has a crimson skirt-like armor covering her lower body.
In her True Vampire form, her appearance changes drastically. Her mouth becomes a gaping circular maw, not unlike a lamprey's, with a very long tongue hanging out. The shape of her eyes becomes quite inhuman and they glow brightly. Her form becomes hunched over and somewhat simian, with deadly claws on both her hands and feet and an eerie aura surrounds her body. In this form, she wears a much simpler raggedy dress.
Personality Shalltear is an extremely flirty lady, much to the chagrin of her peers, especially her master Ainz. So far, she has displayed a preference for necrophilia and sadomasochism. For that reason, Shalltear tends to make sexual advances towards undead like Yuri Alpha, who tries to avoid her as best as she can. However, she dislikes rotting corpses. Despite her apparent shamelessness and honesty, she can be quite innocent about certain things. Shalltear also happens to be quite sensitive about her petite figure, which she attempts to cover up by using breast pads. Furthermore, she tends to easily misinterpret the old sayings of the 41 Supreme Beings and takes them out of context.
As a true vampire, Shalltear is extremely proud and takes her position as a Floor Guardian very seriously. Yet, at the same time, she has no patience or tolerance for failure and will often burst into fits of rage at the sign of an unfavorable situation occurring. Shalltear will not hesitate to kill any servant who disappoints her. However, she will not punish others for failing at tasks that are impossible to begin with. When Shalltear fails a mission, she tends to fall into a state of depression and can become very reflective on the sins she has committed. In fact, she believes that her crime must not go unpunished, feeling guilty of the terrible things she has done to cause Ainz trouble.
Shalltear is completely loyal to Ainz and, and is also considered to be the love rival to Albedo for his affections. She takes great joy in being able to prove her worth and fantasizes about the praise she expects to receive from Ainz. When a situation doesn't go in her favor, Shalltear fearfully panics about the scolding she believes that she will get by him. However, she seems to have a taste for enjoying the punishments Ainz orders her to do like being his chair to sit on. After learning from the mistakes of her last mission, Shalltear begins to act more vigilant and careful of the environment around her, planning precautionary measures accordingly based on the kind of situation she is in.
On the other hand, she tends to be quite a playful girl towards her opposition to the point of chasing after them for the fun of it after they develop a fear of the former. She will incite a few mind games with them for as long as possible before finally deciding to go through with either capturing or finishing them off for good. However, she can lose control of herself when she is splashed with too much fresh blood after murdering her victims. She also feels deeply uneasy and frustrated with herself whenever other Nazarick denizens don't seem to bear any trust in her for the job. She wants to prove herself useful to not only her master Ainz, but to everyone in Nazarick who lost faith in the former as atonement for betraying their trust.
Background Shalltear Bloodfallen was created by one of the 41 Supreme Beings, Peroroncino. Shalltear was made by her creator as one of the subjects of his own desires. She was used by him as a basis to act openly around his perversion and love of H-games. Shalltear was given a wide selection of clothing by Peroroncino, all of which cater to one fetish or another. They include dresses, nurse uniforms, maid outfits, bunny suits, sailor uniforms, leotards, swimsuits, bloomers, and blazers. She was also given some animal ears and a tail as well.
She was programmed to take pleasure in enjoying various kinds of fetishes such as ones involving necrophilia. According to Shalltear, he had also programmed her to have a sibling-like feud with Aura, one of the dark elf twins who was created by his older sister, Bukubukuchagama. In the Light Novel, Momonga mentions that Shalltear was inspired by an amalgamation of different female characters from H-games played by Peroroncino.
According to Shalltear herself, she often tends to patrol between the 1st to the 3rd Floor. Along the way, she makes sure to collect feedback from the Area Guardians while doing so. Not only that but Shalltear also goes out of her way to check on the readiness of the entire floor itself. If Shalltear is given the spare time off from work, she would then take a bath, or get a facial whichever way she picks.
On the other hand, she and Albedo seem to view one another as rivals, competing with each other for Ainz's affection. While Albedo was programmed to love Ainz, Shalltear happens to love her master presumably due to her own nature as a necrophiliac.
In the past, Shalltear and her master Ainz together were usually the pair to handle lone intruders that had invaded Nazarick. While so, she vaguely remembered being killed once by fighting multiple players to the death during the large-scale invasion on the tomb back in the days of YGGDRASIL.
- #5Albedo
Appearance An impeccable beauty, Albedo is a tall woman with lustrous jet-black hair and the face of a goddess. She has golden irises and vertically split pupils; on her left and right temples are two thick horns protruding crookedly, and on her waist are a pair of black angel wings.
Albedo wears a pure white dress with silky gloves covering her slender hands and a golden spiderweb necklace that covers her shoulders and chest. In combat, she wears an impressive black full plate armor with an unique helmet and carries a battle-axe with her.
Personality Extremely loyal and in love, Albedo is infatuated and needy/clingy with Ainz, often showing obsessive tendencies when it comes to his affairs. She is always vying for Ainz's affections, showcasing outbursts of jealousy whenever anyone else appears to be getting close to him. Yet despite this, she states that as the Supreme Ruler, it would be bizarre for him to only take one wife, implying that she would be content with him taking others as wives as long as she is the one he loves the most. Due to her nature as a succubus and how she was programmed by Ainz to be in love with him, Albedo is quite assertive to a fault. She sometimes loses control of herself around what Ainz says to the point of going to extreme actions, such as almost raping him against his will.
Among all the Guardians, she is the most vocal when it comes to expressing her opinions. Albedo will openly denounce any statement or action she deems inappropriate, reaching the point where Ainz sometimes considers it an annoyance. As the Overseer of the Floor Guardians, she is very levelheaded. Albedo can make calm and collected judgments that even Ainz sometimes doesn't think of. She takes Ainz's orders as a top priority and absolute, punishing anyone, even a Floor Guardian, who'd dare to belittle or not take it seriously. According to Ainz, he can sense that Albedo harbors hatred and hostility toward humans, whom she calls an inferior species.
Albedo can easily lose self-restraint and go mad if Ainz is harmed, even by an attack that may not hurt him whatsoever. She becomes very emotional whenever Ainz is put under mortal danger, such as a life-or-death situation, or if he considers abandoning her.
Background Albedo and her sisters were created by Tabula Smaragdina. She was originally programmed to prefer frequent sexual activity, but Momonga altered her personality and changed her setting to be madly in love with him instead.
As the Guardian Overseer of Nazarick, she has to keep in mind where every Floor Guardian is at all times.
Settings She is a demoness who holds the title of Guardian Overseer, which is the highest-ranking position in the Great Underground Tomb of Nazarick. With flowing raven hair and golden pupils, her beauty could bewitch a nation. She is proud of her position and confronts intruders as a confident, dignified superior being. Regardless of how brilliant or brave her foes are or whether she considers them strong, she will never acknowledge them as being equal to herself. This is because she understands the meaning of the position bestowed upon her. Her abilities befit the title of Guardian Overseer, with outstanding intelligence and combat ability. That said, she is not omnicompetent. For instance, in pure wits, Demiurge is her superior, while Shalltear is superior in fighting ability. Yet, nobody in Nazarick can rival her administrative ability. In addition, her feminine skills—particularly those pertaining to being a housewife—are excellent, and during her free time, she can be seen sweeping, sewing, and so on. Though the reason is unknown, she enjoys cleanliness, and her desire for such frequently drives her to clean things up. In particular, her ability to sort out bookshelves knows no peer. However, she recognizes the possessions of others as belonging to them, so she rarely insists on cleaning up. That said, the items accumulated through her collector’s habit are typically very messy. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether she actually likes being tidy. This might well be an act—in order to appear as the perfect woman—though the truth of that is unknown. It is too scary to confirm. She always has a gentle smile on her, and her elegant way of speech has made many people think she is a goddess or an angel. That mistake is not particularly laughable, given that she is surrounded by that sort of atmosphere and acts in an appropriate way. The fact is, it would not be wrong to view her in that way. She was originally planned to be an angel of the highest order, but she ended up with a greatly distorted appearance after being fused with a monster from the land of dreams. Because of that, her personality is similarly twisted, being merciless and cruel, cunning, and savage. She gives her enemies despair and revels in their agonizing deaths. Her usual expression seems to be there to suppress the urges that flow from her heart—a mask that exists to conceal her desire to perform ruthless acts upon the weak. If the mask breaks, she would probably end up being like Empress Lu Zhi or Empress Wu Zetian. However, that only applies when dealing with those not of Nazarick. Fortunately for those who serve Nazarick, one can take comfort in the fact that the mask is very sturdy and will not break easily. She feels very strongly about her duties as the Guardian Overseer of the Great Underground Tomb of Nazarick. Naturally, the fact that she has ears everywhere listening for information goes without saying. In addition, she smiles all the time—to the point where one might say she does not show any other emotion. Her smile is nothing more than a poker face to her. She can also show emotions like anger, grimaces, and fake tears. Her sophisticated lady’s face will not break, even when she is torturing the fools who oppose her. She is a bitch deeply in love with Momonga.
- #6Demiurge
Appearance Demiurge is described to be a tall demon with dark skin and nicely combed black hair. Behind the round glasses are eyes so squinted that they are not normally visible. Wearing a British suit with a tie, he is dressed like a gentleman. Behind his back is a silver tail, covered with metal plates and six long spikes at the end. In his humanoid form, Demiurge's eyes lack eyeballs, instead, shining jewels with numerous small cuts take their place.
He can use several of his skills to mold and change certain parts of his body into offensive weapons for battle. For instance, he can produce a unique set of wings from behind his back for flight purposes and to launch feathery attacks at his foes. When in his half-demon form, everything about his body becomes frog-like including his newly-monstrous face with a pair of large black leathery wings. Seeing this, Jircniv presumes that Demiurge may perhaps be a mutant or offshoot Toadman, or even a king-type of such race.
For those who first met him in the New World at Re-Estize, Demiurge appears to be wearing a mask which silently conceals his face under the moniker Jaldabaoth. On the other hand, there were others from Kalinsha who ended up discovering that he could assume a different form after they felled for his deception. Although it is true that a demon like Demiurge as Jaldabaoth can transform, the one they witness was not really him, but a familiar he conjured forth in his place.
Personality As he is a demon, Demiurge is considered to be one of the cruelest members in Nazarick, taking great joy in the suffering of other races. Additionally, he was programmed to act that way in his character settings by Ulbert. For that reason, he enthusiastically performs magic experiments on the prisoners sent to him, viewing them as nothing less than toys for his own amusement. He passionately enjoys inciting hateful feelings and treacherous thoughts among the victims of his experiments for his own pleasure. Demiurge takes great pleasure in seeing the chaos and pandemonium he has incited within the hearts of his subject. It came to a point where he had finally earn the hate by all his subjects of different races, much to his delight. As the Commander of the NPC defenses, he has a high level of intelligence and strategic thinking. He would also act apologetic towards his master on the behalf of the incompetent Floor Guardians barring Albedo for not being able to clearly understand a portion of Ainz's schemes but himself and the Overseer. He is keenly analytical on whatever plans Ainz had in mind for him to do along with the other NPCs, quickly deducing why his master intentionally allows Cocytus to borrow forces of low-tier undead rather than stronger ones.
Demiurge works closely with the other servants of Nazarick and is loyal to the creators, thinking of them as important companions and consider their words/saying as wisdom pass down to him to reflect on. However, due to their conflicting personalities shared with their respective creators, he and Sebas Tian do not appear to get along well with each other. Though Demiurge is a sadistic demon that thrives on the pain of other creatures, he has a more artistic side to him. He is a skilled carpenter and artisan, with hobbies of crafting beautiful works of art. Such artwork is done by using victims from his experiments as tools for his inspiration. Demiurge is ambitious about the future of Nazarick and will do everything he can including his duties and experiments like the making of scrolls to strengthen their fighting force. He takes every word his master says literally, misinterpreting them to the best of his knowledge and ability. This can be heavily emphasized when Demiurge became the mouthpiece of Ainz to explain their master's supposed plan to his fellow Nazarick denizens. The only time Demiurge was ever known to lose his composure happens to be when his master Ainz's life is in danger. Nonetheless, Demiurge is considerate and meticulous of his plans by not recklessly relying on Nazarick's resources too much. He likes to hear his master Ainz's words directly face-to-face from him rather than through a [Message] call.
On the other hand, Demiurge's kindness is genuine when directed towards his fellow denizens of Nazarick. He is considered to be a very gentle person around the friends in Nazarick he talks to. However, to everyone not affiliated with Nazarick, his kindness is merely a means to an end. According to Sebas, Demiurge has abused hostages in front of the enemy in order to frighten them into submission. Demiurge felt the thought of immobilizing would-be rescuers and then having them watch as he tortured their hostage is a moving sight for him to do. If it were Demiurge, he would even let the rescuers who came to mount a rescue escape with their hostage. Demiurge detailed that he would firstly let them rest at ease and believe they had escaped, and then he would turn the tables on them. This way, he can see his victims experience hope, before having them fall into despair when everything they do works against their favor.
Background Demiurge was made and came into being by his creator Ulbert Alain Odle. He is one of the Floor Guardians that was assigned to the Great Tomb of Nazarick. In the New World, Demiurge can be seen as a secret collaborator with very important individuals from different nations he holds connections to, conspiring alongside them to help further the interests of Nazarick. Behind the scene and war, Demiurge would also go as far as to set up secret meetings and work with his loyal conspirators within nations who could secretly serve to assist Nazarick's cause in the field of politics.
Among the people he is in cahoot with as his associates, some of which happens to be none other than the Golden Princess from the Re-Estize Kingdom and the current ruler of the Roble Holy Kingdom. Particularly, he has even calculatingly and deviously goes as far as to manipulate nobles like Marques Raeven that hailed from the Re-Estize Kingdom to do his bidding through means of blackmailing him by holding his son hostage. Among one of such other methods Demiurge was recently known to use happens to be a political assassination instigated on Prince Caspond of the Holy Kingdom and replacing him with a puppet to take over the individual's role in the human nation.
From the nations he infiltrated, he made sure to carefully cover his tracks so that various operations started by him don't get exposed to the enemy. In the case of Operation Gehenna which Demiurge had set up, he use the Re-Estize Kingdom as a basis for his grand scheme of things. To Demiurge, it is all so that he can prep his next move, using the Demonic Disturbance he had caused in the Re-Estize Kingdom's Royal Capital as a proving ground for his inevitable course of actions in the Holy Kingdom. Demiurge made the inhabitants of the New World come to believe that he is the rising Demon King, Jaldabaoth. His Jaldabaoth persona that represent the demon's existence came into question when two nations fought him under unique forms respectively.
On the other hand, Demiurge was known to take satisfaction in conducting many experiments. Among all the experiments he oversees doing, Demiurge focuses on testing out interbreeding and healing magic with the people he and members of Nazarick had captured outside the tomb. He refers to his test subjects as the "Abelion Sheep." He has his own farming ranch set up to prepare for skinning them alive in order to grind for materials like their skins to use in making low-tier magic scrolls. Demiurge had several rules arranged to regulate the interactions and hierarchy between test subjects of different races to the extent that he force them to cannibalize each other alive.
While so, he loved craftsmanship in general and had even made use of the bones of his victims to construct things like a chair. Demiurge enjoyed making objects like these. He was very interested in that field, covering items ranging from objects such as furniture kind. It was said that his techniques had surpassed those of a casual dabbler. Through every kind of work he does during duties, Demiurge express the bold desire to impress Ainz and earn his praises by displaying the achievements the demon had accomplished doing.
At some point in the course of the Overlord series, after making himself known as Jaldabaoth in the New World, Demiurge conquered the Abelion Hills and created a Demi-Human Alliance stationed there. He silently led the coalition of demi-human forces into an all-out war with the Roble Holy Kingdom using his summoned Evil Lord Wrath to be Jaldabaoth as a guise to hide his true identity, Demiurge. Working in the shadows, he is considered to be the mastermind who orchestrated the latest hostile conflicts to ensue between humans and demi-humans, manipulating and plunging both opposing sides to go to war with each other on the battlefield calculatingly. The tragic events caused by Jaldabaoth in the Re-Estize Kingdom and the Holy Kingdom were all planned out by him, using such fake persona to also secretly hide Nazarick's involvement and influence in these two nations.
- #7Cocytus
Appearance Having an enormous body size of 2.5 meters, Cocytus has the appearance of an insect walking on two feet - a fusion between a mantis and an ant. With a tail twice as long as his height, Cocytus is covered in sharp spikes like icicles and has a strong jaw that can easily snap people's hands.
Two of his hands hold a silver halberd, while the remaining two hands hold a mace emitting black light and a crooked shape sheath which seems to be for a broadsword. In the anime, Cocytus is seen wielding a katana that he retrieved from a storage space in his fight against the lizardmen. With a breathtaking cold air, the pale blue, hardened bone armor oozes out diamond dust like bright light. His shoulders and back look like uplifted icebergs.
Personality Cocytus has a warrior personality, respecting anyone with a fighting spirit, and the heart of a warrior. As a Floor Guardian, he is in charge of Nazarick's martial defense. Cocytus is loyal to a fault that he even allows his master to fight the rebel Shalltear alone as the former was ordered to do. This is shown when he prevented Demiurge, under Ainz's order, from interfering in Ainz's fight against Shalltear, even though he too also feared the possibility of losing his master. As Cocytus is a warrior by heart, he likes a good battle and has a sense of honor. He is not above the thought of condescending his opponents, but rather show admiration of their tenacity to fight. Unlike his isolationist and xenophobic colleagues, he is more accepting and open to the idea of allowing outsiders like the lizardmen to join Nazarick. He also appears to enjoy watching how battles play out as a bystander, excited to see what tactics and strategies his enemy use. Since coming to the New World Cocytus is continuously learning on the go, becoming more independent, learning and adjusting his knowledge of war, strife and leadership.
Though Cocytus takes pride in his position as Nazarick's defender, he is somewhat envious of his fellow Floor Guardians. Cocytus likens himself as the 'sword' of Ainz Ooal Gown, that executes his master's wishes. He thinks the only way he could prove his worth to Ainz is by actually defeating the invading forces that would pose a threat to Nazarick. Cocytus is not fond of asking for assistance in order to save face, but when the need arises, he will put his pride aside to accomplish his task. For that reason, he was willing to accept a personal defeat but not one that will disgrace and humiliate the Great Tomb of Nazarick and the 41 Supreme Beings. After losing his army to the lizardmen, he starts to reflect more on his actions and no longer wishing to obey his master's order blindly without first offering his own input on it. With the task of now administering the Lizardman Village, he has also began to shoulder more responsibilities that were expected him to carry out by his master.
Knowing his defeat, Cocytus doesn't mind if his master reprimands him. He was tolerant about it to the point that he had already prepared himself to be slain if given the order to do so. In other words, Cocytus was ready to commit suicide in order to erase the stain of his dishonor for losing to the enemy. What Cocytus felt most afraid of is the notion that he could possibly disappoint his master and be abandoned because of it. He was sensitive of his failure having an affect on the rest of his fellow NPCs that his death alone will not be enough to atone. Cocytus failing his first campaign put a mental toll on his state of mind where he tried his best to console himself from seeing such a scenario happen. When seeing Ainz go out of his way to do tasks still, Cocytus can't help but sometimes also feel sadly inadequate and incompetent as he himself couldn't be able to fulfill the work in his master's stead. He is also a person who is diligent with whatever task was given to him such as training either alone, with Ainz or with the lizardmen in swordsmanship.
Ever since the end of the Lizardmen War, he has become a teacher-like figure to the lizardmen, strictly teaching them to abide by the rules of Nazarick and how they respectfully act around Ainz. This causes Cocytus to become a more outspoken person about the decisions he needs to wisely and carefully choose as Ainz wishes him to think of ways in bettering Nazarick. As a result, he starts to develop confidence and trust in his judgement of what to do rationally during wars. Cocytus yearns for Ainz to produce an heir for Nazarick, to which he could look after and train under him. He was willing to train either Ainz or his future child about direct combat physically and how to approach these kind of foes. Based on his conversation with Shalltear, he fondly enjoys the idea of honing and crossing blades with his master in the ways of swordsmanship if permitted the chance to duel him. He takes thrill in dueling worthy warriors who caught his attention, looking to challenge their resolve head on and even possibly, recruit them if a chance presents itself.
Background Cocytus was created by Warrior Takemikazuchi as the Floor Guardian of the 5th Floor of the Great Tomb of Nazarick. In his setting, he was programmed to possess every sort of knowledge on all of the 41 Supreme Beings' Divine Weapons. Nonetheless, Cocytus admits that he had never once seen such weapons and its powers utilized in battle before until his master Ainz Ooal Gown equipped it in combat against Shalltear Bloodfallen. Like his creator, he also sees himself as a prideful warrior who admires the fighting spirit of his foes, giving them the honor and respect they deserve when faced against the former in combat.
Whenever he emerge triumphantly against his adversary in combat, Cocytus tends to lay claim of ownership over the weapon used by them, adding it to his own collection of weapons regardless of its value. Furthermore, Cocytus would even considered keeping the corpse of the warrior he slain as trophies for safekeeping, making sure to have them kept well-preserve and intact via ice to bring back home with him. No matter how strong or weak the warrior is to him, Cocytus approach them without showing any bias or arrogance all so that the former seeks to have a proper match where they can fight to the death.
- #8Sebas Tian
Appearance In his human form, Sebas Tian has the appearance of an elderly butler and he is dressed gracefully in his traditional black uniform. Sebas' hair is entirely white, just like his immaculate beard. He has visible wrinkles on his hollow face, which makes him seem gentle in appearance, but his eyes are as sharp as an eagle's. However, in the manga, his beard is longer, his shoulders are not as broad, and his face is also older.
Personality Like his creator, Touch Me, Sebas Tian has a great deal of personal justice. Unlike many other denizens in Nazarick, he does not completely despise humans or see them as inferior creatures. Instead, he believes that some humans are good people and it is the duty of the strong to protect the weak. However, humans with an ugly nature disgust him and he will not hesitate to kill anyone who dares to oppose Nazarick. Sebas also tends to question his own actions whether it was right or wrong of him to do them contrary to his master's order. Not sure why he does it, Sebas does believe that Touch Me's will is what encouragingly motivates him to act the way he does and that it conflicts with the will of his current master. Although Sebas is stoic in nature, the thought of being executed as a traitor to his master terrifies him the most. He gets extremely nervous whenever his loyalty to Ainz is called into question.
When encountering humans who are not purely motivated by personal gain, Sebas believes this is the reason why he cannot bring himself to hate humanity. Sebas believes that it is wrong to cast out a pitiable existence simply due to possibilities of risk. Because of the conflict in his personalities mirroring Touch Me, like Demiurge to Ulbert, the two NPCs do not appear to get along very well with each other, as their characteristics are polar opposites. According to the author Maruyama, the reason behind why Sebas has quite a decent personality is due to not having any settings written by his creator at all.[1] He even noted largely that because he is a blank-slate character, the number one NPC most influenced by their creator was particularly Sebas.[2]
He is kind and friendly toward humans. Sebas acts heroic in what he does, looking and wanting to help as many people around him as he can. If he sees someone in trouble, Sebas will go out of his way to lend a hand until it is done from start to end. Sebas admits himself to being sympathetic to whoever is in a bad situation, choosing to stop by and save them from harm without hesitation despite having to face other conflicts of his own along the way. He also delays his duties and missions a little longer to take care of lesser important matters like those first. Nevertheless, Sebas has no intention of saving those who only pray for others to extend a helping hand. However, he will go forth to help anyone like Tuare out in their hour of need if they are struggling and striving to live.
Background Sebas Tian was created as a butler by Touch Me. He and the Pleiades served as a last line of defense against intruders, holding them off for as long as possible. However, because he was unlikely able to stand against enemy players who managed to come this far, his only real purpose was to distract the invaders until the guild members of Ainz Ooal Gown were fully able to prepare for their final stand in the Throne Room. While so, Sebas does not seem to hold as much malice and hate towards outsiders like humans as his fellow Nazarick denizens.
Unlike most residents of the tomb, Sebas harbors doubts about their thought process where "Everything which does not belong to Nazarick is an inferior lifeform," and "Other than a rare few exceptions, humans and demi-humans are weaklings that must be trampled." Rather than follows their creed, Sebas operates by his creator’s credo that "those who do not save the weak cannot call themselves strong." However, after meeting wretched individuals like Zach, he starts to feel that there might be some truth to what the Nazarick's denizens say after all.
When on a reconnaissance mission with Solution, Sebas does not allow her to capture and eat any humans during their journey, except the ones who tried to ambush them. In Re-Estize while gathering information, he usually pays a visit to the Adventurer's Guild every morning and records all the requests on the notice board in his notebook before the adventurers can take them. Along the way, at some point, he also pays several visits to the Magician's Guild to purchase low-tier magic scrolls every now and then. Sebas has committed all the information he obtains in the Royal Capital, even street gossip, to paper before sending it to Nazarick as reports. According to Sebas himself, he is primarily responsible for the intelligence-gathering duty rather than Solution.
Currently, after the founding of the Sorcerer Kingdom, Sebas' duty and mission has been relocated to E-Rantel at the moment under Ainz's order.
