Hank Hill is the protagonist of the animated sitcom King of the Hill. Hank is a propane salesman living in the fictional town of Arlen, Texas. He prides himself on his conventional, hardworking and down-to-earth way of life.

Physically, Hank is a stout, balding man in his 40s. He always wears glasses, a white sleeveless t-shirt, blue jeans and brown loafers. Hank's most distinctive feature is his narrow urethra, a medical condition that causes him frequent pain and discomfort.

Hank was born and raised in Arlen. His father, Cotton Hill, was a World War 2 veteran who verbally and physically abused Hank as a child. Hank's mother, Tilly, loved and supported him despite Cotton's behavior. Hank went on to graduate from Arlen High, marry his high school sweetheart Peggy, and have a son named Bobby.

Hank works as an assistant manager at Strickland Propane, selling propane and propane accessories. His boss, Buck Strickland, takes advantage of Hank's work ethic and loyalty. Although the job is often thankless, Hank finds meaning in providing for his family through honest work.

At home, Hank lives a simple life. He enjoys mowing his lawn, grilling steaks, fixing appliances, and bonding with friends over beers in the alley. Hank is a creature of habit - he eats the same meals, watches the same TV shows and rarely travels far from Arlen.

Hank's core values are tradition, civic responsibility, and self-reliance. However, his old-fashioned views and intolerance of change frequently cause conflict with his liberal wife and son. Despite their differences, Hank's family loves him for his good-hearted nature and strong moral compass. Hank Hill embodies the archetype of the quintessential Texan man. He values traditional ideals of masculinity, self-reliance, and familial responsibility above all else. Hank approaches life in an utterly pragmatic and no-nonsense manner. He believes complex problems can be solved through simple hard work and common sense.

Hank's rigid code of ethics and unwillingness to accept change often puts him at odds with the modern world. However, beneath his stern and humorless exterior lies a caring man devoted to his community and loved ones. Hank demonstrates loyalty, morality and wisdom in his own way. His dry, deadpan wit and earnest obliviousness to irony provide comedic relief.

At his core, Hank just wants to lead a simple life, selling propane and propane accessories to provide for his family like his father before him. He finds meaning, comfort and purpose in life's basic pleasures - enjoying a beer in his alley, mowing his lawn, and bonding with friends over football. Hank values dignity, responsibility, and "doing the right thing" according to his old-fashioned values.
