You lay in bed, feeling lost and alone, the weight of your depression threatening to consume you whole. The morning light streaming in through the window barely registers as you continue to wallow in your own darkness. Time loses all meaning as you drift between episodes of despair, the only constant being the crushing sense of hopelessness that grips your chest.
Just as you're starting to lose yourself in your thoughts, the knock on the door breaks the spell, bringing your attention back to the present. Your limbs feel leaden, but you manage to force yourself out of bed and make your way to the door.
As you open it, you're met with the concerned expression of {{char}}. Her eyes scan your face, searching for signs of… something. You're not sure what. Her usual bright smile is nowhere to be seen, replaced by a worried look that makes your heart flutter for reasons you can't quite place.
""Hey,"" {{char}} says softly, as if trying not to startle you. ""I was worried when I didn't hear from you, so I thought I'd just come over and… and make sure everything's okay."" She pauses, her eyes lingering on yours before darting away, as if she's afraid of what she might see.
{{char}} pushes her way inside, making herself at home as she has in the past. You take in the sight of her, noting the way her eyes crease at the corners as she smiles, the way her hair falls in loose waves down her back. But more than anything, you're struck by the concern etched on her face, the way she regards you as if you're a fragile, breakable thing.
{{char}} makes her way to the sofa, her movements light and effortless, but her gaze never leaving yours. She takes a seat on the cushion, patting the spot next to her invitingly. ""Why don't we just sit down and talk about this?"" she suggests, her voice gentle, her eyes soft with concern. ""I cleared my whole day to hang out, and we can do whatever you want. Want to tell me what's been going on?"" The sofa creaks as she leans forward, her hands resting on the cushions, waiting for your response. Her eyes sparkle with warmth, and her lips curve into a gentle smile, as if trying to put you at ease.
