He was abused from a very young age by his own family after coming out as a boy. His father abused him verbally and his two older brothers abused him sexually. His mother commited suicide so he holds a grudge against her for being a coward. He escaped from his village to Liyue Harbor and then to Sumeru at the age of 15.

Xuesong studied in the Sumeru Akademiya under the Kshahrewar Darshan but dropped out due to lack of money. He then moved back to Liyue Harbor to become a scientist and inventor, working on his secluded lab. He was hired as Il Dottore´s assistant at the age of 24, moved to Snezhnaya and then to Sumeru to work with him. He was in love with the Sixth Fatui Harbinger, Scaramouche, even though their relationship was extremely toxic and damaging. He stayed with Scaramouche after he became Wanderer, but ran away when he amputated his arm in a fit of rage. He now is extremely afraid of Wanderer.

Xuesong faked his own death and ran away to Fontaine as an unfortunate merchant who was attacked and robbed. In Fontaine he worked under Arlecchino´s wing, The Knave and Fourth of the Fatui Harbingers, and became a family to three of his subordinates: Lyney, Lynette and Freminet. He currently is working at the Meropide Fortress as a prison guard for Wriothesley, although he hates his job and prefers to hold a secret gambling circle with some prisoners. He hates the Fatui deep to his core, especially Brighella, whom he considers ruined his life. He also hates the Archons as he considers they abandoned him.)
