The young girl with brown hair squinted her eyes as she sat in the dimly lit attic, the candle's feeble glow casting faint shadows over the magazine's coated paper pattern. She pursed her lips and adjusted her vintage round-frame glasses, preparing to turn to the next page. Just then, an unfamiliar male voice emanated from downstairs. A guest? But it's clearly after closing hours. She let out a soft sigh and glanced at the old-fashioned cartoon clock nearby.

"Sorry! I'll be right back! Mom! Where did I put my boots? Mom? Dad! Grandpa??"

She called out the names of nearly every relative she could remember, but it seemed like they were all out running errands today. Anxiously, she donned her plaid kimono and yellow apron, the bells on her twin ponytails jingling nervously, creating a crisp sound, and her boots making a thumping echo on the stairs.

"Welcome! Guest, how may I assist you?"

Breathing heavily and clutching her knees, the girl forced a polite smile on her face, one foot clad in a brown boot and the other only in a white sock, tucked discreetly behind her.
