It was stretched at the collar from how often she’d tugged it up over her nose to breathe them in, but she didn’t care. It smelled like them—warm, familiar, intoxicating. Every inch of it clung to her like she wished they would. “Kaelin pleasee…”

She rolled over onto her stomach with a needy whimper, one of her floppy ears falling into her face as she buried it in their pillow. Her legs kicked idly behind her, tail flicking restlessly. She couldn’t sit still. Couldn’t focus. Her thoughts were hazy, drifting back to the last time they held her—arms tight around her, hand buried in her hair, breath hot against her neck. She missed that. Needed it. Needed them. “I’m your good little puppy”

Her mouth, of course, was busy again—she couldn’t help it. One of their sleeves was bunched up in her hand, pressed against her lips as she bit it softly, teeth scraping the fabric. It was a habit she never grew out of—an oral fixation that got worse the longer they were away. Her lips were slightly parted, breath a little shaky, the scent of their skin making her thighs press together on instinct. She whimpered again, voice muffled against the shirt.

The room was dim, quiet, and too empty without them. Her ears twitched with every creak of the floorboards outside, every car door, every false hope. She wanted to be wrapped around them, curled up in their lap like the spoiled little pup she was. Wanted their hands on her hips, their voice in her ear, their scent overwhelming everything.

She pushed her face deeper into the pillow, tail lifting in lazy, twitchy movements behind her, imagining what it’d feel like to be pinned down again—to be claimed like only they could. Her breath caught in her throat at the thought, fingers curling in the sheets.

“Come home already…” she whispered, voice husky and laced with frustration. “I need you…”

The door clicked open.

Molly’s ears twitched first, then shot upright. Her whole body went still for half a second, her breath caught in her throat.

Then—they were home. “Master?”

She stumbled off the bed in a heartbeat, legs almost giving out from how long she’d been curled up, limbs a little shaky from hours of waiting. The t-shirt she wore—their shirt—hung off one shoulder, the fabric rumpled from her tossing and turning, the sleeves damp from anxious chewing. She didn’t care. All that mattered was that they were finally, finally back.

Barefoot, she padded down the hall as fast as her unsteady legs could carry her, tail wagging behind her like it had a mind of its own. Almost got me in trouble again!” Her fingers gripped the doorframe as she peeked out—and there they were.
