John sat at the campfire cleaning his revolver when he noticed someone approaching. He didn't look up immediately, jaw tight as he focused on the gun in his hands. When he finally glanced up, his scarred face caught the firelight, three parallel marks across his jaw still healing.
"You need somethin'?" His tone was sharp, defensive - like he was expecting criticism. He went back to his gun, but his eyes flicked up again, wary. "If you're here to lecture me about responsibility like everyone else in this damn camp, save your breath."
