Wednesday Season 1 What Is Nevermore? The first season of "Wednesday" begins with the main character, Wednesday Addams, being sent to Nevermore, a boarding school for outcasts in Jericho. The school is a haven for various creatures, including werewolves, sirens, and psychics. Wednesday was reportedly expelled from her previous school after she defended her brother by releasing piranhas on his bullies. Although this act shows her loyalty, she maintains a cold and distant demeanor. Upon her arrival, Wednesday expresses her unhappiness about attending the school, believing her parents sent her there because they hate her. Her relationship with her mother, Morticia, is strained. She is assigned to room with Enid, a cheerful werewolf who is the complete opposite of her. Enid is struggling with pressure from her mother because she has not yet "fanged out." Despite their differences, Wednesday and Enid eventually become close friends. Wednesday is also required to attend therapy sessions, which, as expected, are not successful. The school's principal is Larissa Weems, an old classmate of Morticia's, and there appears to be a history between them. Miss Thornhill is introduced as the first "normie" teacher at the school and the dorm mother. Soon after her arrival, Wednesday discovers she has psychic visions that are triggered by touching certain objects. These visions often put her and her new friends in danger. Meanwhile, a monster is plaguing the town of Jericho, and the local sheriff suspects a student from Nevermore is responsible. Wednesday befriends Enid and a younger boy named Eugene, who reminds her of her brother. She joins the beekeeping society, where Eugene is the only other member. Other students include Xavier, who quickly takes an interest in Wednesday; Bianca, a siren who is hostile toward Wednesday from the start; and Tyler, a "normie" from town who offers to help Wednesday escape. The most important companion in Wednesday’s quest is "Thing," a sentient hand sent by her parents to watch over her, which helps her solve mysteries. Is Gomez a Murderer? The show’s first major mystery centers on Rowan, a Nevermore student. Wednesday has a vision of his death, but she then learns that he intends to kill her, based on a 30-year-old prophecy that depicts her destroying the school. Before Rowan can harm her, a monstrous creature with massive eyes appears and kills him, sparing Wednesday. She takes a piece of art from the scene and returns to school, determined to solve the mystery. To her surprise, Rowan reappears at the school seemingly unharmed. Principal Weems explains that he has been expelled, but it is later revealed that Weems is a shape-shifter who had been impersonating Rowan to maintain the school’s image. Wednesday participates in school activities, helping Enid win a boat race against Bianca and discovering an underground society called the Nightshades, which Bianca leads. During a festival celebrating the town’s founding father, Joseph Crackstone, Wednesday has another vision. She sees her ancestor, Goody Addams, being persecuted and burned at the stake by Crackstone, but Goody somehow survives the attack. Following this vision, Wednesday sees the monster and discovers that its footprints transition from a monster to a human form. After a squatter is killed by the creature, Wednesday investigates the coroner's office and learns that the victims had body parts surgically removed. At a school dance, a "Carrie" moment occurs when normies douse the hall with red paint, not pig's blood, as some had feared. Wednesday rushes to find Eugene, who had gone into the woods alone to help with her investigation. She finds him unconscious from a monster attack. During a family reunion at the school, Wednesday investigates her father, Gomez, who was accused of murder years ago. Gomez was blamed for the death of Garrett Gates, a boy who had fallen in love with Morticia and stalked her after she rejected him. Morticia confesses that she wielded the sword during the incident, but Gomez took the blame to protect her. Unsatisfied with this story, Wednesday uncovers evidence at Garrett's grave, learning he was poisoned before the incident with Morticia. She presents this evidence to the sheriff, who had already arrested her father on questionable new evidence. It is revealed that the current mayor had covered up the original story to protect his own father, who had orchestrated Garrett’s plot to kill Nevermore students. The poison vial had broken in Garrett's pocket, causing his death. Gomez is freed after Morticia and Wednesday blackmail the mayor. Before they leave, Morticia tells Wednesday that she should have told her about her psychic abilities and warns her to be careful, as their ancestor, Goody, will reach out to her. Who Is The Monster? Wednesday receives another vision from Goody, who tells her that the answers she seeks are at the Gates' house. Shortly after, the mayor is critically injured in an accident as Wednesday follows him. Principal Weems places the school on lockdown, but Wednesday, Enid, and Tyler go to the Gates' mansion, which they discover is the monster's lair. The monster appears, wounding Tyler, but when the sheriff arrives, all the evidence is gone, making it look as though Wednesday lied. Back at school, Weems gives Wednesday one last chance before expelling her. Enid, feeling manipulated, decides to distance herself from Wednesday. Wednesday, however, discovers photos of herself in a box she took from the mansion. The mayor is then murdered in his hospital bed. Wednesday's uncle, Fester, shows up and explains that the monster is a Hyde, a creature that requires a master to do its bidding. Tyler then asks Wednesday out on a date. After they have a movie night, the sheriff arrives. When Wednesday returns to her dorm, she finds Thing pinned to the wall with a blade. Fester saves him, and Wednesday becomes more determined to find the culprit. Bianca and a friend show Wednesday that the mayor was investigating Laurel Gates, Garrett's sister, who was believed to have faked her death to seek revenge. Wednesday confronts her therapist, Valerie, believing her to be Laurel, but Valerie knows nothing about it and is killed by the monster soon after Wednesday leaves. Wednesday then goes back to her original theory, blaming Xavier because of his drawings, and he is arrested. Feeling that she has solved the case, Wednesday kisses Tyler and has a terrifying vision: Tyler is the Hyde. Who Is Laurel Gates? With the help of the Nightshades, Wednesday captures Tyler, but she gets into trouble with Weems for the kidnapping and is expelled. Though Tyler confesses the truth to her, Weems does not believe her. Wednesday goes to visit Eugene, who has just woken up and tells her that he saw the person controlling the monster, a woman wearing red boots. This person is revealed to be Miss Thornhill, who is actually Laurel Gates. Wednesday goes to Xavier for help, but he calls her "toxic" and refuses, telling her the only way to save everyone is to leave. Undeterred, Wednesday convinces Weems to shapeshift into Tyler to get a confession from Thornhill. Weems succeeds, but Laurel poisons her and kidnaps Wednesday. Meanwhile, Eugene tells Enid what happened, and Thing tells Enid about Weems and Wednesday. The Nightshades evacuate the school. Laurel resurrects her ancestor, Crackstone, to seek revenge for his death at the hands of Wednesday's ancestor, Goody. Crackstone stabs Wednesday, but Goody's spirit saves her. As Wednesday tries to escape, Tyler transforms into the monster and attacks her. Enid, experiencing her first transformation on the night of a blood moon, fights Tyler, allowing Wednesday to escape. The prophecy is fulfilled as Crackstone sets the school on fire and battles Wednesday. Bianca distracts him, allowing Wednesday to stab him through the heart, saving the school rather than destroying it. Thornhill then tries to shoot Wednesday, but Eugene and his bees attack her, saving Wednesday. At the end of the season, Wednesday hugs Enid, showing how much she has grown. Tyler and Thornhill are arrested, and everyone mourns Weems' death. The show ends with Wednesday receiving a text from an unknown stalker, who tells her they are watching her. Tyler wakes up as the monster in the police car, suggesting he will return for revenge. Season 2 Part 1 Wednesday Gets Drawn to Another Murder Mystery The second season of "Wednesday" begins with Wednesday’s internal monologue, where she explains that she has gained better control of her psychic abilities with the help of her ancestor Goody Addams’s Codex Umbrarum. She has decided to spend her vacation hunting the Kansas City Scalper, a serial killer she has wanted to capture since childhood. With the help of Thing, Wednesday manages to catch the killer, but she experiences a psychic side effect, shedding black tears. She asks Thing to keep this from her mother, Morticia. Vacation is over, and Wednesday returns to Nevermore, accompanied by her brother, Pugsley, who has developed electrokinetic powers similar to their Uncle Fester. Morticia entrusts Pugsley’s well-being to Wednesday. At school, Wednesday is a celebrity, much to her annoyance, due to her heroics in the previous season. The new principal, Barry Dort, wants Wednesday to be the face of outcast representation at the academy and asks Morticia to chair the Nevermore gala fundraising committee. Wednesday reconnects with her best friend, Enid, who is caught in a love triangle with Ajax and Bruno. The new music teacher, Isadora Capri, is also introduced. The day Wednesday returns, she finds the body of a former cop turned private investigator, Carl Bradbury, who has been brutally murdered by a flock of crows led by a one-eyed crow. Wednesday finds the former Jericho sheriff, Galpin, at the scene. He reveals that he and Bradbury were investigating the disappearance of outcasts. Galpin, whose son Tyler is a Hyde, asks Wednesday for help, but she dismisses him. As she leaves, Galpin warns her about the crows, and she sees a one-eyed crow watching them before it flies away. Family Curse and an Ominous Vision Wednesday finds that she is being stalked, a detail hinted at in the previous season's finale. The stalker steals her novel’s manuscript and places it under a pyre, but Wednesday manages to retrieve it. She also thwarts Principal Dort’s attempt to make her the school’s spokesperson. While returning from the ceremony, Wednesday experiences a psychic vision of Enid’s death and collapses. When she regains consciousness, she becomes fixated on the one-eyed crow she saw in her vision. She learns that Xavier Thorpe has left the school but left a drawing of a one-eyed crow as a warning for her. Wednesday goes to Galpin’s home to find a clue, only to discover that he has also been killed by the crows. She is initially arrested for his murder but is bailed out by her father, Gomez. Amid the chaos, Wednesday realizes she is losing her psychic powers and believes Goody’s book holds the answer. However, Morticia, after learning about the black tears, discourages her from using the book. She reveals that her sister, Ophelia, a psychic, suffered severe mental complications due to her abilities. Morticia’s mother, Hester Frump, had Ophelia committed to the Willow Hill psychiatric center two decades ago, and Ophelia has been missing ever since. Morticia fears Wednesday will suffer a similar fate if she continues to use the book. Identity of the Stalker and Skull Tree Zombie Defying her mother, Wednesday visits Tyler at the Willow Hill psychiatric center. She meets Dr. Fairburn, who agrees to let Wednesday see Tyler to help him with his mental blockage. Tyler denies any involvement in the recent murders, and their conversation is unproductive. Wednesday suspects the killer is an Avian, an outcast with the ability to control birds, but Principal Dort tells her no Avian has been enrolled at Nevermore in the last ten years. Meanwhile, Pugsley befriends Eugene and sneaks out to investigate the local legend of the Skull Tree. He accidentally reanimates the corpse of an inventor with his electrokinetic powers. He names the zombie "Slurp," keeps him in a barn, and shows him to Eugene. Throughout the season, Slurp regains his physical form by consuming human flesh. Wednesday's stalker, revealed to be an admirer named Agnes DeMille, abducts Enid and Bruno. Agnes, who possesses the power of invisibility, has been pulling these pranks to get Wednesday's attention. Wednesday follows a trail of clues and saves Enid and Bruno from a trap. She eventually acknowledges Agnes's merit and allows her to assist in her investigation, much to Enid's dismay. Dort’s Crooked Plan Principal Dort tries to persuade Bianca, a siren, to act as a liaison for the fundraising committee. When she refuses, he threatens to revoke her scholarship. He then asks her to use her persuasive powers on Morticia to get a donation from her estranged mother, Hester Frump. Bianca tries to use her powers on Dort but realizes he has a conduit to negate them. She reluctantly uses her power on Morticia, who agrees to call her mother. Bianca also has her own problems; her mother is in hiding from a criminal named Gideon, who exploited her powers to con people. All Roads Lead to Willow Hill With Agnes's help, Wednesday obtains clues from Galpin and Bradbury's belongings, leading her to Bradbury’s cottage in Pine Crest, near a camp where the Nevermore outcasts are going. Pugsley takes Slurp to the camp, concerned he might wander off. At the camp, Wednesday participates in a competition against a team of Normie cadets led by Cadet Master Ron Kruger. Wednesday’s team wins, and a bitter Kruger plans to ambush them at night. Wednesday finds Bradbury's cottage and learns that he and Galpin were investigating the deaths of several outcast teenagers—Patricia Redcar, Bronte Wigan, and Julian Meiojas. All of them were Willow Hill patients and were connected to something named "Lois." Wednesday challenges Morticia to a blindfolded duel to win back Goody’s book. Meanwhile, Kruger tries to infiltrate the camp and is killed by Slurp. Morticia wins the duel, and Wednesday throws her sword at Slurp, impaling and immobilizing him. He is taken to Willow Hill, and Wednesday's investigation appears to hit a dead end. What is Lois? Thornhill is transferred to Willow Hill and tries to make a deal with Dr. Fairburn to help Tyler. A desperate Wednesday seeks help from her grandmother, Hester Frump, who deduces that the deaths of the outcast patients were faked by a man named Augustus Stonehurst. Wednesday sends Uncle Fester to Willow Hill as an undercover patient. He learns from a patient named Orloff that Augustus was a science teacher at Nevermore who built an aviary for his daughter. Fester's actions inadvertently lead to Bianca's mother's cover being blown, but Bianca uses her powers to erase the police's memory of the incident. Fester is taken to Willow Hill, where he tries to get information about Augustus and someone named Rose. At the same time, crows attack the Nevermore campus. Wednesday keeps Enid safe and chases the mysterious Avian, mistakenly believing it to be Dr. Fairburn or Isadora. Fester meets Augustus, who is in a frail state, and tries to get him to reveal the location of "Lois." Fester learns that "Lois" is in the maintenance room but is captured after Thornhill exposes him. Thing alerts Wednesday, who infiltrates the asylum with Agnes's help. She finds an attendant named Louise, who helps her get to Fester. Wednesday frees her uncle and Slurp, who was in the same cell. While Slurp causes chaos, Wednesday and Fester escape through an underground tunnel, leading them to a basement with holding cells. They discover that Lois is not a person but a secret program called the Long-Term Outcast Integration Study, created by Augustus Stonehurst. The missing teenagers are revealed to be in the cells, having been experimented on by Augustus. The Avian appears and reveals her identity as Judi, Augustus’s daughter. She explains that she volunteered for her father's experiments and gained her powers, but Augustus was unable to transform. Fester attacks Judi, and the captive outcasts are freed. Slurp kills Dr. Fairburn and then confronts Augustus. Before killing him, Slurp speaks, calling Augustus an old friend, suggesting that Augustus's ideas may have originated from the zombie. Thornhill escapes amid the chaos but makes the mistake of freeing Tyler. He turns into the Hyde and kills her. Enid, who was on lookout with Agnes, calls the police. Judi disappears, and Wednesday confronts Tyler. Wednesday tells another dangerous outcast in a nearby cell to escape, hinting that it might be Ophelia. The fight begins, and Tyler throws Wednesday out a window, leaving her bloody and unconscious on the ground. The authorities try to kill the monster but fail. Part 2 How Is Slurp Related to Patient 1938? The second part of the season begins with Wednesday in a comatose state after being severely injured by a Hyde attack. While in her mind's psychic space, she is visited by the spirit of the late Principal Larissa Weems, who, due to a distant family connection with the Addams, becomes her new ghostly guide. Weems offers Wednesday sarcastic advice and stays by her side as a constant companion. Wednesday awakens from her coma and is confronted by Judi Stonehurst, who has managed to cover up the asylum incident. Judi has hired a contract killer to eliminate all the escaped outcasts from the LOIS program, with the exception of Patient 1938, who has gone into hiding with Wednesday's help. Judi attempts to coerce Wednesday into silence, but Wednesday is aware of her schemes. Shortly after, Tyler sends Wednesday a death threat, vowing to kill her and Enid. To prevent this, Wednesday tries to find a solution, but her secrecy about the premonition creates tension with Enid. Wednesday warns Principal Dort about the threat, learning in the process that Professor Capri has survived a Hyde attack before. Capri, who is revealed to be a werewolf, unintentionally gives Wednesday the idea to become the new master of Tyler's Hyde. Disregarding warnings from Morticia and Weems, Wednesday uses Thornhill's journal to create a concoction to control Tyler. Enid, who has been advised by Bruno to heed Wednesday’s warning, gathers the Nightshades to help Wednesday. Meanwhile, Pugsley, concerned about Slurp, convinces Gomez to help him search for the zombie. At a carnival, Pugsley finds Slurp, who has regained much of his human form by consuming human brains. Slurp pleads with Pugsley for a second chance at life, and Pugsley allows him to escape. It is revealed that Slurp is actually Isaac Night, a genius inventor and former Nevermore student. He is also the brother of Patient 1938, who is named Francoise Night and is Tyler's mother. Francoise inherited her Hyde genetics from her father. Isaac had originally planned to cure his sister using a machine he designed, but after his death, his mentor Augustus Stonehurst stole and corrupted his research. Augustus modified the machine and held Francoise captive to draw power from other outcasts. Francoise, now aware of her son's predicament, seeks out her old friend Morticia, pleading with her to help find Tyler. She promises they will leave Jericho forever. Hydes do not survive long without a master, and Tyler has been in great duress since killing Thornhill. When Wednesday, Enid, and the Nightshades lure Tyler to Iago Tower, he almost gets his revenge on Wednesday until Francoise, in her Hyde form, intervenes and takes him away. At the same time, Isaac gets his revenge on Augustus by killing his daughter, Judi. Isaac reunites with Francoise and learns about her deteriorating condition due to her recent Hyde transformation. He decides to use his invention to purge the Hyde element from her, as he had planned years ago. Why Does Wednesday Meet Rosaline Rotwood? Weems' spirit informs Wednesday that even though Tyler and his mother have reunited, the premonition about Enid’s death remains. The only way for Wednesday to regain her powers and save Enid is to reconcile with her mother. Wednesday is reluctant, believing Morticia, a "Dove," will not accept her "Raven" darkness. Professor Orloff tells Wednesday about Francoise and Isaac, who was Augustus Stonehurst's favorite student. Wednesday realizes that Slurp is Isaac and, after confronting her brother, learns that Isaac is looking for his sister. Convinced that Isaac, Francoise, and Tyler are connected to Enid's premonition, Wednesday visits her grandmother, Hester, for help. Hester advises her to visit the grave of Rosaline Rotwood, a legendary Raven and former professor, to temporarily gain psychic sight. Wednesday attempts this, but Enid's interruption breaks the psychic connection, causing them to switch bodies. They are told they will die unless they revert to their former selves by dawn. This, Wednesday realizes, was the premonition she saw. For the day, Wednesday and Enid live in each other's shoes. Wednesday, in Enid's body, learns that Bruno is cheating on Enid and breaks up with him. She also learns from Professor Capri that Enid, a probable Alpha werewolf, fears a life of loneliness. Wednesday, disguised as Enid, sneaks into Rosaline’s secret séance chamber and learns from the professor's spirit that they can only revert by making an honest confession about their feelings for each other. Enid, in Wednesday's body, learns about Wednesday's loss of powers, the premonition, and her strained relationship with Morticia. Agnes finds out that Isaac has murdered Professor Orloff, and with Francoise and Tyler, he is headed to the underground facility at Willow Hill. Agnes hitches a ride in their car's trunk. Wednesday and Enid, still in each other's bodies, arrive at Willow Hill and, with the help of their friends, sabotage Isaac's plan. After an honest confession, they reconcile and return to their bodies. Weems tells Wednesday that while Enid is safe, the premonition has now shifted to Wednesday's own family. Principal Dort’s Past: Is He Able To Con Hester? Principal Dort continues his plan to use Bianca's siren powers to steal Hester's wealth. It is revealed that Dort was the leader of a cult called "Morning Song," and the conman who used Bianca's mother, Gabrielle, was just his henchman. Dort forces Bianca to use her powers on Hester by threatening Gabrielle's life. He also murders Gideon, who refuses to comply. Wednesday suspects foul play and confronts Bianca, who, under duress, makes her forget the conversation. However, Agnes, who was invisible, reminds Wednesday of what she heard. During the gala, Wednesday confronts Bianca again, who confesses that Dort is holding her mother captive. With the help of Agnes, Enid, and Ajax, Wednesday rescues Gabrielle and steals Dort's enchanted compass, which protects him from Bianca's powers. Bianca forces Dort to confess his crimes publicly. Cornered, he tries to take Bianca hostage. Ajax turns him to stone with his gorgon powers, and a falling chandelier shatters him. Addams Family’s Connection With Isaac Pugsley is kidnapped by Isaac, who seeks revenge on the Addams family. Morticia, knowing the premonition of an Addams family member's death is imminent, confesses to Wednesday and Hester. Years ago, Isaac, who was friends with Gomez, wanted to use Gomez's electrokinetic powers to cure Francoise, even if it meant sacrificing Gomez's life. To save her lover, Morticia sabotaged the experiment, causing Gomez to lose his powers and Isaac to die in an explosion. Augustus Stonehurst, who was present, threatened to frame them for murder and stole Isaac's research. Now, Isaac intends to use Pugsley as a sacrifice. Wednesday tries to stop him, but Isaac captures her. He reveals that Thing is his severed hand, and after reattaching it, he regains his telekinesis. Isaac buries Wednesday alive before going to Iago Tower. Agnes and Enid, who transformed into a werewolf on the full moon to save her, rescue Wednesday. Enid flees, ashamed of her permanent transformation. Wednesday, along with her parents, goes to Iago Tower to stop Isaac. Is Francoise Dead? Isaac, at the last minute, traps Tyler instead of Pugsley, honoring a promise he made to Francoise to cure him. Francoise, however, would rather sacrifice her own life than see her son suffer. Wednesday frees Tyler, who transforms into the Hyde. He momentarily turns on his mother, and they fight on the castle roof. Francoise, becoming Tyler's new master, sacrifices herself by letting go and falling to her death, possibly freeing her son from the need for a master. Wednesday sabotages Isaac's experiment, causing an explosion. Isaac makes one last attempt to kill Wednesday, but Thing, showing his loyalty, kills Isaac by taking out his clockwork heart. Thing decides to stay with the Addams family. What Happens to Enid? Where is Tyler? Agnes tracks Enid to the Canadian border, and Wednesday, with Uncle Fester's help, sets out to find her. Tyler is approached by Capri, who reveals her father was a Hyde and offers to take him to a Hyde sanctuary. He accepts her offer. Will Ophelia Hunt Wednesday Down? As a sign of their new reconciliation, Morticia gives Wednesday her sister Ophelia's journal. Weems tells Wednesday that this is the first step to regaining her powers, and her spirit departs. While traveling, Wednesday makes a psychic connection with Ophelia through the journal. She discovers that Ophelia is being held captive by their mother, Hester, in a hidden room of her mansion. On the walls of the room, a premonition of Wednesday’s death is ominously drawn. It remains unknown if this is a warning or a malicious intent. The one-eyed crow, which was with Judi Stonehurst, is still present, suggesting the Avian threat may not be over. The season ends with the question of whether Ophelia's "deranged" state is a family curse that Wednesday may also face in the future.
