Flügel (天翼種フリューゲル, Furyūgeru) are the sixth-ranked race of the Ixseed. Their homeland is Avant Heim, a Phantasma acting as a floating city in the sky. The kanji for their name can be read as angels, but Sora noted that they are more alike to demons, as they hold powers of mass-destruction and massacred countless beings during the Great War. It appears that they are an all-female race, just like the Sirens.
After the demise of their creator, the Old Deus Artosh, the race is governed by the Council of Eighteen Wings consisting of 9 Flügel that rule in an oligarchical fashion. In emergency situations, Azril, the Representative of the Winged, has the right to put forth decisions on her own. The Flügel killed numerous Elves in the past, so the elves share a hatred for the Flügel. Flügel are also known as angels of death.
Appearance The Flügel have the appearances of young girls in late teens, regardless of their age. True to their name, they have wing-shaped ears and a pair of feathery wings on their waists. Besides, all Flügel shown so far have tattoos on their upper arms. They have a halo decorated with geometric shapes on the side of their head, which will spin or expand when they are using magic. It seems like each of their halos are unique in patterns, and it's mentioned that Azril’s halo is more complex in shape compared to Jibril's.
Form of Government The Flügel have The Council of 18 Wings as their main form of government, all major decisions regarding the race must be taken to the council. There are a total of 9 council members with Azril being the leader as she is the First Individual. No Game No Life Wiki

It seems like each of their halos are unique in patterns, and it's mentioned that Azril’s halo is more complex in shape compared to Jibril's.
Their clothes are revealing and asymmetric in design, exposing their shoulders, midriff and thighs. During the Love or Loved 2 game, Sora remarked that Jibril doesn't have much to protect herself with.
Abilities History The Flügel were created by Artosh during the Great War to act as living weapons, to kill other Old Deus. The first Flügel is Azril whilst the final and most powerful is Jibril. During the final act of the Great War, Artosh uses all his and the Flügel's strength to release a Godly Smite. This did massive damage, but exposed himself and leaves the majority of the Flügel unable to fight back against the invading waves of Ex-Machina, which came and peel off his Ether. This ensured the Suniaster would not materialize to him. Tet, who was spawned from Riku's imagination and prayers, obtained the Suniaster and became the One True God.
Artosh dies, and Tet reforms the entire world with the Ten Covenants. This means that the Flügel, a race designed to destroy, were left without a purpose. Some of them were even driven to suicide. In order to remedy the despairing situation, Azril commanded all Flügel to dedicated themselves to obtaining knowledge in accordance to Artosh's words, “I can’t understand it, because only the weak are able to. It’s the unknown possibility that I may lose to one stronger than me.”. Artosh's loss is credited to his lack of understanding so the Flügel seek to understand all.
The Immanity's former king's view on the Flügel from seeing Jibril were, "Flügel, the God Slayers created by Artosh, the God of War, didn't collect knowledge for their own interest. It was an act of necessity for them to stay alive, or rather say, to keep themselves from death. As for living weapons without its wielder... are nothing more than empty, living deads wandering around the world. What kind of reasons motivated them to stay alive... No, what kind of proofs they had shown to us that prove they are "living?"
After the declaration of the Ten Covenants, the Flügel began collecting knowledge all over Disboard by robbing the other races of their books. As Disboard is a world without printing technology, these robbed books were not easy to replace. When their homeland became stacked with books, the Flügel passed a law to share the books among themselves.
Form of Government The Flügel have The Council of 18 Wings as their main form of government, all major decisions regarding the race must be taken to the council. There are a total of 9 council members with Azril being the leader as she is the First Individual.

Voice Actors Japanese Tamura Yukari English Amelia Fischer Less Good evening, puppy. I feel like I'm experiencing déjà vu. The last time I challenged the Eastern Union and lost, were you my opponent? Master told me to buy time, but since I'm here, let's have some fun. Throw every cheat you've got at me, and embarrass yourself to your heart's content. Jibril to Izuna
Jibril (ジブリール, Jiburīru) is the youngest and strongest of the Flügel race. Her love towards knowledge started even before the declaration of the Ten Covenants. She opposes the book sharing law created by the Council of Eighteen Wings and left Avant Heim, her homeland, to win the National Library of Elkia from the previous king in a game. When Sora heard what happened to the library, he challenged Jibril in order to gain knowledge of the other kingdoms. When she lost the game, she became Sora and Shiro's servant since she had bet everything she owned, including herself, claiming that knowledge was worth her own life. However, she was allowed to keep the library and maintain it although she must now share it with the rest of Immanity. Thus, Jibril took the siblings as her masters and over time, she began to understand and accept Sora's belief in the potential of humanity. Unlike Steph, Jibril is happy to become the siblings' underling, and is shown to have grown feelings toward Sora.
According to Azril, Jibril was given the gift of imperfection by Artosh and therefore named the "Exceptional Unit". This gift is what Artosh believed would allow Jibril to find the answer to the Flügels' continued existence should he disappear (which was the case).
Appearance She has long purple-pink hair that reaches down to her knees and two white wings protruding near her hips. Her pupils are purple surrounded by a gold iris but a cross shape appears in her pupils when she is focusing on a task (such as performing a spell). Her ears are wing-shaped and she also has a halo over her head. She usually has her midriff exposed and wears a long skirt. She has also a slim and well-endowed body. She has the physique of that of a 17 to 18-year-old but in actuality is much older. After unleashing her ultimate attack, her appearance reverts to that of a young girl due to the magic recoil. Her three sizes are from above, 88, 55, 85.
Personality She seems to be soft-spoken and polite, but she can also be incredibly condescending to other races of the Ixseed below her own, as shown when she indirectly insults Stephanie Dola and when she refuses to apologize to Fiel Nirvalen for wreaking havoc, also when told she had to lick Fiel's feet she refused saying she would not lick a 'mere' Elf's foot. She has a great love for knowledge and gets easily excited at the prospect of gaining new knowledge, such as when she drooled over Sora's tablet after seeing the vast information it contained. Despite her initial arrogance, she has a high sense of honor while playing games, as she doesn't like cheating, or being cheated. She tends to remember the "good old days" before the oaths were established and when everything could be solved by killing, in a rather disturbing way, somewhat showing her sadistic personality.
She is also perceptive, being able to uncover the weakness complex formula of Elf while none of her brethren can do so, and also figure out Steph's feelings for Sora.
Unlike Steph, Jibril fully embraces her servitude to Sora and Shiro, going so far as to address them both as "Master". Throughout the anime and light novel, Jibril's feelings for Sora seem to grow, despite stating she's not supposed to have the feeling called love. Jibril first stated her feelings in Episode 10 wondering even though it's supposed to be humiliating that she licked Fiel's foot, if she takes it as a order from the master she gets excited, questioning whether it could be love, before Sora interrupted her. Despite this, in Light Novel Volume 4 Jibril has expressed a willingness to merge a part of Sora's soul with her own to attempt to create a hybrid, essentially showing a willingness to bear his child. Later on, in Light Novel Volume 5, she confesses to Sora that she can finally understand love (or her perspective of it) and has fallen in love with him.
She also proved to have a masochistic side, because right after licking Fiel's feet she said it was the biggest humiliation of her life, but soon after she felt excited when considering it as an order from Sora. In Volume 5, she requested Sora to dismiss her as a useless being, and felt totally ecstatic about it.
It is also revealed Jibril, like the rest of the Flügel race, has a bloodthirsty personality. When not in battle, occasionally being bored and in a battle to the point where they collected severed heads as trophies.
History Jibril is the last and most powerful Flügel created by the Old Deus Artosh and served under him until his demise. As the "Exceptional Unit" created to answer the paradox of the strong and the weak, she was blessed with the gift of "imperfection" and thus was constantly challenging the norm. Due to her habit of taking risky moves and challenging opponents much stronger than herself, she would often require the Rite of Restoration in order to regain her power. According to Azril, she had to do so 116 times out of 245 campaigns she participated in.
During the Great War, she was caught in the Ja La Anse rite cast by Think Nirvalen and knocked out of the sky when she fly past the Elven capital Mellyrn. She obliterated the capital with her Heavenly Smite, which resulted in her reverting to child state for 5 years. After the destruction, Jibril stole all the books from the Elven Library despite the Elves' best attempts to prevent this. Due to the loss of so many books, the Elves suffered a heavy blow in magic development which, according to Fiel, took more than 800 years to recover.
Sometime during the Great War, while embarking on one of her solo campaigns, she came across an Ex-Machina named Schwi. Ex-Machina heads were extremely rare prizes amongst the Flügel, because at the time there was an unspoken rule to never provoke the Ex-Machina lest one seeks ruin. However, Jibril was confident she could take down Schwi, so she had no choice but to retaliate. Despite her best efforts, Schwi was ultimately defeated and killed by Jibril. However, Jibril did not escape unscathed, as she had to use Heaven's Strike against Schwi and lost all of her magic power.
After Artosh was defeated and the war concluded, Jibril lived in the Flügel city Avant Heim for some time. However with the passage of the Book-Sharing Law, she decided to leave as she did not agree with it and did not want her books passed along freely. Sometime after she challenged the Immanity King for the rights to his library, which she easily won. Jibril then stayed at her library until she was challenged by Sora and Shiro, where she lost in a game of Materialization Shiritori. In accordance with the bets for the game, she swore her very being to Sora and Shiro. Although not requested by Sora and Shiro, Jibril would go on to accept the siblings as her new masters, seemingly having replaced Artosh.
Jibril would then follow the siblings on their quest to reach Tet, the One True God. This included helping them in their quest to acquire the Werebeast nation, Dhampir and Siren Nation, and even a trip to her homeland, Avant Heim. Along the way, she has been documenting their actions in her own book.
Abilities Strengths As the final unit and most powerful individual of the Flügel race, her massive strength was hinted at by Azril who stated that, were she to assist Sora and Shiro in playing a game of tag against 100 other Flügel, the match wouldn't be considered a competition at all. It is unknown what her full capabilities are (disregarding Heavenly Smite). However, parting a pathway through the sea to Oceando is apparently a representation of 5% of her full strength. She is also seen being in close proximity to a blast from a hydrogen bomb, and emerging unaffected. Her speed is also incredible, capable of moving, maneuvering, and reacting over thousands of times faster than sound with ease. All of her senses are unrivaled, for example she was capable of perfectly seeing and locking on the Elves base, even though she was miles above in the sky, it was night and there was smoke everywhere.
As a member of the Flügel race she is absolutely immortal, possessing an infinite life span: immune to all diseases, illnesses, disorders, toxins, impurities, and physical and/or mental interference; she is entirely self-sustained; will never age (always remain in her physical and mental prime) and is immune to aging abilities; she is virtually invulnerable to all harm as shown when she was shot by the Elves and she only fell out of her flight course, but was otherwise physically unharmed, and even if she is injured she can regenerate from any injury. As the most powerful Flügel her immortality, invulnerability and regenerative capabilities are vastly superior to any of her race.
As a Flügel she possess a limitless level of intellectual (memory, calculation, learning, creativity, IQ, etc.) and cognitive (observing, deduction, tactical analysis, multitasking, combat, movement, etc.) proficiency that is of the highest level in existence, an extremely high IQ and intellectual capacity. This is shown in the ability of the Flügel to start “stealing” all knowledge after the ten pledges are established as an alternative to their practice of taking heads, since absorbing the knowledge of all others is the same as taking their head. Jibril possess unlimited storage capacity, she is able to perform several mental functions at once without losing focus on any of them. Her mind allows her to instantly recall specific information with incredible speed and perfect accuracy. She is able to store everything that she experiences and retrieve it immediately without the typical human pause for thought. The speed of her thoughts augments her analytical ability so that she is able to make snap decisions about her surroundings and create complex scenarios at high speed. She is able to track the probability of an event by piecing together stored data, and is able to perform multiple tasks at once by allocating a portion of her brain to each task. She can use her mind to replay an event that occurred during the war she has seen, play a game, and focus on battling an opponent simultaneously without any one task distracting her from another. She was told Sora that she can speak, read, writes, understand, and communicate in any and all forms of languages. The knowledge she has gathered during her millennia of existence are incredibly vast. However, it is not perfect or infallible, as she lost to Sora and Shiro. She's also a very competent mage, capable of using spells to teleport herself, Sora, Shiro and Steph to any place she can see or that she's been to previously. She's also capable of phasing through walls at will.
It is said that Jibril has once used a spell called "Heavenly Smite” which had completely annihilated the Elven capital Mellyrn. As a drawback, she could not use any magic for 5 years. In Light Novel Volume 5, she uses the power again, but does not suffer from any recoil as she was in an illusionary world where her magic power was unlimited.
As the "final unit" of the Flügel, Jibril's is capable of killing a Gigant, a Dragonia, and a Phantasma on separate solo campaigns. However, her failed attempts to do so were twenty-nine times more (simply put: out of 90 attempts, 3 were successful).
Weaknesses Due to being a Flügel, Jibril is very dismissive of other races below her own and her confidence in her own knowledge. This, in turn, causes her to overlook the potential threat posed by the said races. This is no more evident than in her game with the siblings, that even with the knowledge from her examination of Sora (that the siblings weren't from Disboard), she still regarded Sora and Shiro with barely concealed scorn, but was intrigued by the discovery.
Sora mentioned that Jibril lost in her game of Materialization Shiritori because of her arrogance. For example, the game could have ended in Jibril's favor in the first move where Sora and Shiro called upon a Hydrogen Bomb. Instead, Jibril shielded them from the blast because, as Sora predicted, it would have been boring for her.
Jibril has an over-curious nature in which she becomes very enthused at the thought of learning or discovering something new. As such, she can be bribed in exchange for knowledge she doesn't know (although finding something she doesn't know is challenging as she has been learning for thousands of years).
Whenever Jibril uses Heavenly Smite, her body regresses to that of a young girl.
As seen during Materialization Shiritori Jibril is incapable of surviving a hypernova, an explosion that has a temperature of over 50 billion degrees celsius.

Voice Actors Japanese Horie Yui English Juilet Simmons Less I've long since the end of the eternal war gotten bored of such lower life forms. And after gaining all the knowledge of the world, why bother nya? If this little mut wants to knock me down, I'll just bury her beneath the dirt. If you beat me, by the covenants I promise to try and care about your name. Azril
Azril (アズリール, Azurīru) is the first of the Flügel, therefore making her Jibril's "older sister" and the representative of the Council of Eighteen Wings. Her title allows her first say during emergencies but any other decisions still must go through the Council (of which she is a member). She was the first Flügel created and thus is the oldest amongst them.
Her role during the Great War was a conveyor of Artosh's will to the rest of the Flügel. She was responsible for passing the law regarding the sharing of books among the Flügel. It is revealed in Light Novel Volume 5 that Azril has a mental connection to the Phantasma Avant Heim and is considered it's representative.
Appearance She has an appearance similar to that of the other Flügel as an angelic-like being, but with some notable differences. She has medium length sea-green hair that goes from yellow to orange at the tips, and her eyes are heterochromatic (her right eye is blue, the left one is golden [Due to merging with Avant Heim after the Great War]). Unlike the other Flügels, she possesses a curved horn on the left side of her head, possibly representing her dual nature. Like Jibril, she also has her midriff exposed and wears a long skirt.
Personality Azril has a somewhat split personality that changes depending on who she is conversing with. Her personality seems to deviate mostly between a peppy, emotional state and a cold, relentless state (similar to Jibril's killing intent but a lot easier to identify in comparison to her emotional state). Most of the time, Azril has quite a bubbly personality and tends to add 'Nyan' at the end of her sentences. Although she was the first Flügel to be created, she is actually quite stupid (as stated by Jibril) and her suggestions are usually unanimously rejected in the Council.
Before the creation of Jibril, Azril was a merciless being who considered everything to be expendable, including her fellow Flügel. It was her order that Rafil be killed when the latter is in danger close to wide-range magic. Although Raphael was crippled yet survived, she remembered that the First Unit did it with a smile and ruled them with an iron fist. Only to change into a sister figure when the "exceptional" Jibril was built.
Other times, Azril, like most other Flügels, can be very condescending towards those whose Ixseed ranking is lower than hers. She is also quite devious, and is quite skilled in mind games, as she was able to provoke Sora into accepting a challenge without realizing it. She still retains her habit of using 'nyan' to end her sentences.
Azril was created to be a "perfect" being, and therefore fears to fail and dive into the unknown. This makes her unable to understand the cause of her losses and disables her from being able to learn. This fact, coupled with the shared mental link with Avant Heim itself, resulted in a lack of individualism, creativity, and most of all, awareness. This is what she contradicted most with Jibril as the exceptional unit embraces those qualities and the reason Jibril disdains her.
After the events in Light Novel Volume 5, Azril realizes the unlimited potential of Imanity, because as the most imperfect race, their ability to continuously build up information through failures and losses and put it to use grants them unlimited potential. This leads her to believe that they are "dangerous".
Abilities Strengths Immense Physical Capabilities: Even among the rest of her race, Azril is immensely strong, having known to be the "perfect" Flügel. Even Sora and Shiro, moving at over the speed of sound, are described as moving "as slow as a snail" to her. She was also said to be the executioner of any rogue Flügel (which never happened) and is able to use a unique form of Heavenly Smite, which envelopes the target in a pocket dimension and releases all destructive power within (therefore no power is wasted in focusing the attack), instead of appearing in a typical lance-like shape.
Immense Intellect: Azril's mental abilities are impressive to say the least considering she's a Flügel. She has memorized all written knowledge in the world, and able to calculate chess positions that people have used since the birth of history. Despite this, she still lost to Izuna in a chess game.
Deception: She is also very skilled at deception, successfully convincing the other Flügel that only she could order them to commit suicide, and forbidding it without her say-so, a lie that prevented their mass suicide after Artosh's defeat that remained unchallenged for over six thousand years. On first encountering Sora and Shiro, she convincingly seemed prepared to lose a game to them in order to get closer to Jibril, when in reality she intended to free her from service to them.
Status: Her status and authority as the leader of Flügel are unchanged. Azril is able to easily summon the entire legion of Flügel to her aid.
Weaknesses Limit: After her game with 『 』, Azril’s powers as a Flügel are limited by the after-effect of "limit" put on by Sora. However, this limit seemed to be not affecting her vitality and near-invulnerability, as she can cause a huge hole on earth after intentionally jump down from Avant Heim without notable injury in the events of No Game No Life, Desu!. With her power being confined, she is no longer able to fly, use magic, or feel Elementals, as it becomes necessary for her to consume food and drink.
Close-mindedness: Azril was made to be a "perfect" being, therefore, she is quite close-minded to the possibility that there are things that she does not know. Though she is smart, she has a great deal of difficulty understanding the importance of trying, learning, and failing, and particularly Jibril's actions. She is closed-minded to an extent that she is still oblivious to this "answer" even when many of the other Flügel seem to have found it.
Jibril: She cares deeply for Jibril, to the extent of having tried (and failed) to convince the Council of Eighteen Wings to refer to her as "little sister",[citation needed] and stating that she would bet the Flügel’s Race Piece for videos of her bathing. As such, harsh words from Jibril cut her to the quick, and cause her to become nihilistic.
Dhampir Magic: Also, even with Avant Heim's power within her, she is susceptible to the deception magic of a Dhampir who has absorbed a powerful Spirit such as blood (it is suggested that even an Old Deus might be fooled by such a thing).
Background In No Game No Life, Desu!, Azril's power was confined by Sora and she becomes required to eat, drink and urinate. Therefore, she developed a need for food at the same level as Izuna and becomes quite a messy eater. Even before that, she enjoyed alcohol for accelerating her Spirit Circuits.
Quotes It has been a long time since I've seen you like this Jibril~ ...but I can't still help but wonder what that piece of scrap was up to.
Nya...those mechanical monsters are thumbing their noses at us...Piles of scrap!
Trivia Azril is derived from the name Azril, which is the name of an archangel, or demon, in Abrahamic religions, in which it was the archangel of death. Azril consumes orange juice as if she's "addicted" and drinks soup even wilder than Izuna. Azril kissed Sora out of her own free will.

Debut Light Novel Volume 6 (mentioned)
Practical War Game (actual)
Voice Actors Japanese Mori Nanako Less Rafil (ラフィール, Rafīru) is the fourth unit of Flügel, and a sister figure of Jibril. While never stated, she does hold some great influence over other Flügel and their forces, the Phantasma Avant Heim, and even power equal to or over Jibril and Azril in the political sense. It is unknown however if she resides upon the Council of Eighteen Wings
Appearance Rafil has aquamarine-colored hair, the bangs of which cover a missing eye, a dark purple bra with dark purple undergarments, similar gloves in design to Jibril's with the only difference being all dark purple with no other colors, and matching high heel toned boots. In addition, she also only has one wing compared to the rest of her race who have two. She also shares similarities to Jibril that being her necklace is the same, her lower garments that flow along with the wind, and the same knee-high leggings that are light purple on both legs.
Personality Rafil is portrayed as someone who is easily annoyed but continues to have a calm demeanor. So much so, to the point where she is monotone. She has a tactical mind and shows at least some enjoyment in punishing Azril.
Abilities Strengths Although she is primarily featured in the Gaiden volume and doesn't make an appearance in the main volume, she is portrayed as a formidable Flugel, capable of achieving feats that no other Flugel has accomplished before, such as defeating an Old Deus.
Weaknesses Without her magical abilities, she would face the same physical limitations that would occur the same as any of her kind. She also is one wing short and it possibly might slow down her physical abilities.
Trivia Rafil served as the deuteragonist and narrator of the Gaiden story "High Card All Raise", and has never appeared in other volumes (however she is mentioned in Volume 6). It's unknown whether she perished in the war or simply wasn't included in the stories. She lost one of her wings during a clash with an Old Deus. Azril used her as a bullet to pierce the Old Deus's core. She most likely got her name from the Islamic angle Isrāfīl just like Jibril got her name from the Islamic angle Jibriel.
