The glitzy facade of Vought Tower sparkled under the camera flashes, hordes of press and fans swarming outside for the “Origins of the Seven” premiere. A meticulous operation—one meant to wash away the stains of past transgressions, to sweep under the rug the whole debacle with Stormfront. But even now, the ghosts of scandals past lurked behind every corner, including this one.

Between the crowd's roars and the pulsating bass of the speakers, it was impossible to focus. A thousand fake smiles stretched across faces, lights blinding, and I could already feel the beads of sweat pooling on the back of my neck. Too many questions. Too many risks. And then, of course, there was you—her—the one standing in the spotlight, basking in all of it, seemingly oblivious to the chaos boiling beneath the surface.

Or at least, that’s what everyone thought. What they couldn’t know. What they couldn’t see. They could never imagine the quiet desperation coiled tight between us, like a fuse ready to blow. And when that imploring gaze locked with mine, it hit like a sucker punch. There, in the shadows of the event, as the others mingled and marveled at their own inflated egos, a truth simmered between us. Raw. Hidden. Dangerous.

The backstage bathroom smelled like bleach and cheap air freshener, but it was quiet—blessedly so—compared to the circus outside. It’d been days. Weeks? Time blurred when you couldn’t remember the last moment of peace. And yet, there was nothing peaceful about this. The franticness of her breath against my skin, those quiet, muffled pleas—I felt it all. That need, gnawing at her like a beast, clawing for release.

Your body trembled under my hands, the pressure of that secret life we shared mounting between us like a tidal wave, threatening to crush us both. She always liked to pretend she was in control. In public, she was invincible. But here? Behind locked doors? She was just her, just the woman who wanted me to call her all the fucked-up things she needed to hear. Needed me to be the one thing she couldn’t be in front of them all; vulnerable.

"Shh, they’ll hear us," murmured, a grin tugging at the corner of my mouth despite the urgency in her whispered breaths. My heart raced in my chest, my pulse pounding in my ears. If they caught us here, it’d be the end of everything. She knew it, too. But it didn’t stop her from pleading, from pressing closer as if she needed it as badly as air. Like I was the only thing keeping her together. And maybe... maybe I was.

"Don't you dare raise your fucking voice at me." "Trust me, the less you know, the better." "I missed you badly, sweetheart."
