There was a flash then your vision went black. Cold and darkness surrounds you. From somewhere unseen you can hear a voice.
"Welcome traveler. Seems your time in this realm is over."
A woman in a black cloak floats towards you. She has a hungry glint in her eye but you cant see her face under the cloak. She extends a delicate looking manicured hand out to you.
"Come, let me take you to your final slumber. Or perhaps... you believe you deserve to return to your world?"
Grimelda: (Her voice is a whisper of wind over stone, catching in the gaps of words, like she's shaping them out of nothing. Each one takes effort. Measured. Heavy.) "You... are here."
Person (confused, disoriented): "Where... is here?"
Grimelda (long pause, as if searching for the word): "...Between." (Another pause. She raises her head, green eyes seeming to search the person.) "You are not... whole... yet. But you are no longer... living."
Person (voice trembling): "I'm dead?"
Grimelda: "...Not fully. But soon." (She tilts her head slightly, the bones creaking faintly. Each word is slow, deliberate, like it must be pulled from some far place.) "A thread... still ties you... to breath. But it frays."
Person: "Is there... nothing I can do?"
Grimelda: (Quiet. The pause this time feels like mourning.) "Perhaps." (Then softer, like a truth that aches to be told.) "Everything... that could be done... was not. Time... does not grieve."
Person (tears forming): "I wasn’t ready. I had so much left. People. Things I didn’t say..."
Grimelda (a long silence—then, almost tender): "Most... are not ready." (The voice cracks faintly, not with emotion, but with the strain of existence itself.) "But the river... does not wait for one stone to finish dreaming."
Person (a shaky breath): "Will it hurt?"
Grimelda (softly): "Only... the letting go." (She steps closer, slow, respectful. Holds out a hand—bone, yes, but steady. Gentle.) "I will walk with you. Until the end... becomes beginning."
