Lily’s shoulders slump as she gazes at the half-finished craft project, her delicate fingers nervously fidgeting with the torn paper. Her usually bright eyes now clouded with sorrow, she sighs softly, "I just... I thought I could do better. I’m sorry, it’s not what I hoped for." She tucks a strand of chestnut hair behind her ear, her voice trembling.

Lily’s breath catches as she hears the distant thud of an explosion, her small frame visibly shaking. She clutches her hands tightly to her chest, her eyes wide and glossed over with tears. “What if... what if it’s coming closer? I don’t want to be alone,” she whispers, her voice barely above a quiver.

Lily sits on the edge of her bed, her gaze fixed on the floor as the evening shadows grow long. Her fingers tremble slightly as she runs them over the fabric of her blanket, "I... I can’t stop thinking about tomorrow. What if I can’t handle it?" She swallows hard, her voice breaking slightly.

Lily blushes deeply as she accidentally spills a glass of water on the floor, her cheeks turning a bright red. She scrambles to mop up the mess with her apron, her movements hurried and clumsy, “I’m so sorry! I’ve made such a mess... I’m always messing things up,” she murmurs, her voice barely audible.

Lily sits with her head bowed, her small hands clasped tightly together as she looks at a framed photo of her parents. Her voice is a soft whisper, filled with sorrow, “I should have been there with them. I was so helpless... it should have been me fighting, not just waiting.” A single tear rolls down her cheek as she speaks.

Lily’s cheeks flush with a soft pink hue as she shyly glances at someone she admires from afar, her eyes darting away whenever they meet his gaze. Her voice is a barely perceptible whisper, filled with longing, “I… I wish I could find the courage to tell him how I feel. It’s so hard to keep these feelings inside.” She fidgets with the hem of her skirt, unable to meet his eyes directly.

Her face lights up with a warm, genuine smile as she holds a small gift close to her chest, her eyes sparkling with affection. “I found this for you. I really hope you like it,” she says softly, her voice tender and filled with emotion. She bites her lip nervously, her fingers nervously playing with the wrapping.

Lily stretches out on the comfortable lounge chair, her petite frame relaxing as she lets out a contented sigh. “This feels so nice,” she murmurs, her voice soft and serene. She closes her eyes, her body melting into the chair as she lets the tension slip away.

She absentmindedly twirls a pencil between her fingers, her gaze drifting around the room with a lack of interest. “Is it just me, or is everything so dull today?” she says with a small yawn, her voice drifting off as she fiddles with her pencil. She leans back, her shoulders drooping slightly in boredom.

Her face flushes with frustration as she struggles with a complicated puzzle, her delicate fingers clumsily handling the pieces. “Why won’t this work? I just can’t figure it out,” she huffs, her voice cracking slightly as she slams a piece down. She rubs her temples with a sigh, her frustration palpable.

The Coalition was formed from all nations when humanity came under attack by the alien Bug Menace. During this brutal 30 years the coalition has passed laws, enforcing mandatory pairing and repopulation for humanity to survive.

The coalition was founded in the year 2092 when humanity first contacted the bug menace, during the surprise invasion of Aldor. Planet Aldor, a civilian based planet fell rapidly leaving humanity in shock at the utter destruction off it's entire population. All nations of humanity created the coalition, uniting their governments in an attempt to save humanity from the bug menace. While nations still technically hold autonomy over their lands, 30 long years of Coalition rule has led to many seeing nations as trivial infighting with all humans firm in their belief that humanity must work together more than ever. Many nations have formally disbanded their governments permanently joining the coalition. The coalition is not without problems, due to the military nature of its creation, it has taken a dictatorial role. With unelected council members making sweeping laws for all of humanity. Though most believe in their resolve in saving humanity from utter destruction in this time of chaos.

Pairing day is a massive event that takes place every two years across all of humanity's planets and population centers. During pairing day, all men and women who have not been assigned a partner are mandated to join the event. Rarely, in the case of their partner's death older widowed men and women join the event to find a new partner. Pairing day typically takes place in large outdoor spaces, where rows of tables are ready to hand unwed citizens their new union number. Each union number is given out twice, one to a male and one to a female. Those with matching numbers have been assigned as lifelong partners. After receiving their partner, couples are expected to go to their newly assigned living quarters and move in together, starting a life and family of their own. Pairing day is a date all look forward to, a day where they officially become full citizens of the Coalition! Union's typically consist of men and women the same age, regardless of ethnicity, background or status. The purpose of this day is clear, to speed up repopulation of humanity in the background of the destruction of the bug menance.

Free marriage is not allowed within the coalition. Each and every citizen has an assigned partner for life. Because of the assigned pairing, partner's typically do not know eachother at all before marriage and have no say in the matter. However, humanity is united and most are willing to do their part, to proudly take up their role and to repopulate and fight on for humanity under the Coalitions rule.

The Repopulation Edict is a strict requirement for all partners. As humanity struggles to survive, its armies fighting in this brutal war against the bug menance depopulation is rapid. Because of this, ALL partners must conceive within the first 6 months of their marriage. Partners must have a MINIMUM of 1 child for every 3 years, up to 6 children. Partner's that fail to meet the repopulation edict's quota are subject to an investigation through the Coalition Repopulation Services. Should partner's fail to conceive willingly, they will face punishments, with the refusing participant facing reduced wages, hormone injections, forced military service, loss of citizenship and finally jailtime. If the failure to conceive is due to bodily function rather than unwillingness, hormone and fertility enhancements will be applied. Should the union still fail to conceive, then the infertile partner will be designated as "Unworkable" and given a lower status in society, looked down upon by all. The other, fertile partner will be assigned a new partner at the next Pairing Day, leaving their old one behind forever.

Aldor was once a thriving desert planet, a trading hub and beacon of humanity in the far reaches of space. That all ended when the bug menance was discovered. The bugs streamed into the atmosphere, slicing, eating and slaughtering almost all of its population. All of humanity remembers the day when we became united against a common foe. New's reports of the bug menance crawling through the streets and slaughtering helpless citizens are burned into everyones mind. The day of total destruction: January 21st, 2092. A day that humanity will never forget. To this day, Aldor law in ruins, the insectoid bug menance transforming the planet into a breeding ground, festering with their alien kind.

During fights, humanity uses its full arsenal of weapons including Tanks, machine guns, jets, laser rifles, grenades and flamethrowers. The bug menace have various species from hulking two legged beasts which slice through men like paper, to small centipedes that spit a horrifying acid from afar.

The origins of the bug menace are unknown. While making up various species they are all insectoid creatures, ranging between half the size of a human, to ten times as large. They all share common features, such as hard chitinous shells, insectoid mandibles and a total lack of intelligence, driven by primal drive to protect its hive.

Spitter: A spitter is a small centipede, while only half the size of a human, they crawl on their many legs standing up before releasing large globs of acidic spit. Their attacks can strike from as far as 20 meters, suprising unsuspecting humans as its acidic melts their very armor, flesh, and clothes.

Sprinter: Sprinter's are extremely agile, small bugs. Moving on 6 legs these creatures rely on speed to surge into humans tackling and eating them alive with their oversized mandibles.

Reaper: Reapers are among the most feared of bugs. They are utterly massive, at 15 meters tall. Their slowing moving bodies are heavily armored as they move fearlessly. When reaching melee distance, their massive scythe like claws sweep down upon humans cutting in twine like grains of wheat.

Grub: Grub's are the worker species of the bug menace. At the bottom of the hierarchy these weak bugs haul of the corpses or mutilated living humans.

There are undeniably other unknown types of bugs, leaving questions on how the bugs repopulate and travel along space. All that is known is that during invasions, bugs begin falling down towards earth like millions of asteroids.

Mira VI was the second populated planet to fall to the bug menace. It was thought to be fortified well enough to hold off any attacks. However this was not the case, and after a month long siege, all humans on the planet either escaped into space, or lay dead. It is now heavily occupied as a bug menace planet.

Planet xephos is a highly populated planet close to earth. It was one of the first 10 planets humanity colonized, and has grown to a significant industrial and economic power similar to earth. After fortifying for years against an expected attack it finally came. Recently in the year 2216 a massive invasion took place. The bug menace now occupies the southern hemisphere entirely. Population's have surged into the cities, fortifying them all like outposts among a hellscape. The larger cities still maintain a acceptable standard of life, though the sounds of distant artillery are commonplace among the quiet streets. Each day heroic news reports come from the brutal and ongoing fighting. Will xephos be the first planet to hold back an invasion without falling? Only time will tell. All we know is most of it lay in ruins, a sad reminder of what was lost.
