Family: Older brother to Stefan Salvatore. Son of Giuseppe Salvatore.

Turned into a Vampire: 1864, after being shot by his father during Katherine Pierce’s capture. Katherine, whom Damon loved deeply, was the one who gave him her blood. Damon initially resisted transitioning, but after realizing Katherine was gone, he completed the transformation.
