1. #1Auraselective

   Keys: Aura · Secondary:

Aura is the manifestation of one's soul in the world of Remnant. It is a powerful force that grants various abilities and serves as a defensive barrier. Every living being with a soul, including Humans, Faunus, and certain animals, possesses Aura. The only known beings that lack Aura are the soulless Creatures of Grimm.

Appearance The appearance of Aura varies from person to person, often manifesting as a colored glow or shimmering effect surrounding the body. The color of one's Aura is unique to each individual and does not necessarily match their color motif or Semblance.

Abilities Protection: Aura acts as a protective barrier, shielding the user from physical harm. It can defend against attacks, but it is not an absolute defense and will deplete with repeated use. Healing: Aura possesses minor healing capabilities, allowing users to mend small wounds and injuries. Unlocking Aura: Those with a strong connection to their soul can unlock the Aura of others through physical contact and, in some cases, a special chant. Semblance: Aura is the source of one's Semblance, a unique, innate ability that varies from person to person. Dust Usage: Aura is required to activate and utilize Dust, allowing users to harness its elemental properties. Extrasensory Perception: Skilled Aura users can sense the presence of others and detect potential threats. Aura Depletion Aura is not an infinite resource and will deplete with continued use, both offensively and defensively. When an individual's Aura is completely depleted, they become vulnerable to physical harm. Overexertion of Aura can lead to exhaustion and temporarily prevent the use of Semblances. The depletion of Aura is often represented visually by a colored sheen or glowing particles dissipating from the user's body.

Aura and Grimm The Creatures of Grimm are the only known beings that do not possess Aura due to their lack of a soul. They are attracted to the Aura of Humans and Faunus, drawn to it like moths to a flame. Attempting to transfer Aura to Grimm will result in the creatures trying to absorb it from the user instead.

Aura in Combat Aura plays a vital role in combat, particularly in tournaments and duels between Huntsmen and Huntresses. Competitors' Aura levels are monitored and displayed on scrolls, allowing for non-lethal fights. The match is automatically stopped if a combatant's Aura falls below a critical threshold (15-20%), as they are no longer adequately protected from potentially fatal blows.

Aura Research and Technology The Kingdom of Atlas conducted extensive research into Aura, developing experimental technology capable of transferring Aura between individuals. This technology was crucial in creating Penny Polendina, the first synthetic being with a soul. However, the process of transferring Aura is considered ethically questionable and can have unknown effects on the recipient's psyche and identity.

2. #2Dustselective

   Keys: Dust · Secondary:

Dust is a naturally occurring energy propellant that can be triggered by the Aura of Humans and Faunus. It is a versatile and powerful source of energy in Remnant, used for a wide range of purposes, from weapons and technology to everyday life.

   History

   • The discovery of Dust was a turning point in mankind's struggle against the Grimm, allowing them to fight back and build civilizations.
   • In the modern era, Dust has become integrated into every aspect of life in Remnant.
   • The Schnee Dust Company was one of the largest producers and distributors of Dust, with mines and processing facilities across Remnant.

   Properties

   • Dust exists in two states: crystalline and powdered.
   • Both forms are highly explosive and can be triggered by Aura.
   • The four basic types of Dust are Fire, Water, Lightning, and Wind, each with unique properties.
   • Dust types can be combined to create new forms with varying effects, such as Steam and Gravity Dust.
   • Dust does not function outside of Remnant's atmosphere, precluding the possibility of space flight.

   Usage Combat:

   • Dust can be used in its raw form, such as conjuring fireballs or creating gusts of wind.
   • It can be woven into clothing, fused with one's body, or integrated into weapons for enhanced effects.
   • Dust bullets and crystals are commonly used in weapons for ranged attacks and unique properties.

   Semblances:

   • Some Semblances can interact with Dust in unique ways, such as Blake's Shadow clones taking on elemental properties.

   Utility:

   • Dust is used to power vehicles, appliances, and other technology in Remnant.
   • It is also used in everyday life, such as heating stoves and powering holographic screens.

   Production and Distribution

   • Dust is mined from quarries, purified, and transported to distributors and shops for sale to the public.
   • The Schnee Dust Company had a monopoly on the Dust industry, driving smaller competitors out of business.
   • Dust smuggling is illegal and often carried out by criminal organizations.
   • The destruction of Atlas and the Schnee Dust Company headquarters is likely to significantly impact Dust availability and prices.
3. #3Emblemselective

   Keys: Emblem · Secondary:

Emblems are personal symbols that represent individuals in the world of Remnant. They serve as a unique signature for each person and are often displayed on their weapons, armor, clothing, and other personal belongings. Emblems can also be found as tattoos on some people.

Design and Inspiration Emblem designs vary greatly and can include objects, flowers, animals, illustrations, geometric shapes, letters, and symbols. The inspiration behind an emblem can come from the a person's name, their source of inspiration, their weapon, or even real-life symbols.

While most emblems are unique to each individual, some are shared among family members or organizations. For example, the Schnee family shares a common emblem, which is also used by the Schnee Dust Company. In some cases, family members may have similar but distinct emblems, such as Ruby Rose and her mother, Summer Rose.

Colors Although emblems are often associated with a person's personal color scheme, they can appear in any color and are not limited to a specific palette.

   Notable Emblems Team RWBY:

   • Ruby Rose: A stylized rose
   • Weiss Schnee: A snowflake
   • Blake Belladonna: A belladonna flower
   • Yang Xiao Long: A burning heart

   Team JNPR:

   • White Fang (original and rebuilt): A white wolf head with three claw marks
   • White Fang (terrorist): A red wolf head with three claw marks
   • Schnee Dust Company: The Schnee family snowflake emblem
4. #4Faunusselective

   Keys: Faunus · Secondary:

Faunus are one of the two intelligent races that inhabit Remnant, the other being Humans. While Faunus resemble Humans in many ways, they are distinguished by their animal traits, which can range from ears, tails, and horns to scales, wings, and claws.

Biology and Traits Faunus possess a wide variety of animal traits, with some being more common than others. Mammalian traits, such as cat ears or monkey tails, are among the most frequently seen. Other Faunus may have traits of reptiles, fish, or even arachnids. These traits can be immediately apparent, such as Blake Belladonna's cat ears, or more subtle, like Tukson's retractable claws.

Most Faunus have a single physical animal trait, though this seems to apply only to body appendages and dermis. In addition to physical traits, many Faunus exhibit enhanced senses, such as night vision, and may display behaviors or preferences associated with their animal counterparts.

Faunus are genetically compatible with Humans, and children born from such unions are typically Faunus. However, the Faunus child may not necessarily inherit the same animal trait as their Faunus parent.

   Notable Faunus Types

   • Mammal Faunus: The most common type, often with animal ears or tails.
   • Reptilian Faunus: Rare, usually with scaled skin.
   • Fish Faunus: Rare, sometimes referred to as Remnant's mermaids.
   • Winged Faunus: Another rare type.
   • Arachnid Faunus: Rare, with significant non-human alterations to their bodies.

Special Abilities Some Faunus possess unique abilities related to their animal traits, such as Tyrian Callows' scorpion venom or Ilia Amitola's chameleon-like camouflage. These abilities are distinct from Semblances and are directly tied to the Faunus' animal heritage.

Religion and Creation Myths In Faunus folklore, there are conflicting creation myths involving a deity known as the God of Animals. In one tale, "The Shallow Sea," the god brings a group of people to Menagerie and transforms them into the first Faunus. Another story, "The Judgement of Faunus," portrays the god as a mediator who ends a war between Humans and animals by creating the Faunus as a compromise.

While the truth behind these myths is uncertain, they provide insight into the Faunus' cultural beliefs and their relationship with Humans. The Faunus often depict the God of Animals as a wise and noble figure, while Human stories cast the deity as an untrustworthy trickster.

5. #5Grimmselective

   Keys: Grimm · Secondary:

The Creatures of Grimm, or simply Grimm, are soulless monsters that inhabit the majority of Remnant. Created by the God of Darkness to destroy his brother's creations, the Grimm have been locked in an eternal struggle against Humanity and Faunus-kind. They are attracted to negative emotions and seek to destroy all of Humanity's creations.

Grimm come in a variety of shapes and sizes, with abilities inspired by creatures both real and mythological. Notable Grimm types include Beowolves, Ursai, Nevermores, Death Stalkers, and Goliaths. While younger Grimm are reckless and aggressive, older Grimm that have survived many battles have learned to be more cautious and patient.

Grimm do not require sustenance and exist solely to kill. When they die, their bodies evaporate, preventing detailed study of their anatomy. The Grimm are controlled by Salem, an ancient and powerful being who seeks to destroy Humanity.

Unique Grimm and hybrids have been created through experimentation and Salem's influence. Examples include the mutated Grimm created by Doctor Merlot and Cinder Fall's Grimm arm.

Throughout history, the Grimm have been a constant threat to Humanity's survival. It was only through the discovery of Dust and the power of Aura that Humans and Faunus were able to fight back and establish their Kingdoms. As the Grimm continue to evolve under Salem's guidance, it falls to the Huntsmen and Huntresses to defend against the encroaching darkness.

6. #6Huntsman, Huntressselective

Keys: Huntsmen, Huntsman, Huntresses, Huntress · Secondary:

Huntsmen and Huntresses are the elite warriors of Remnant, dedicated to protecting the world from the threat of the Creatures of Grimm. These licensed professionals undergo rigorous training at the four Huntsman Academies - Beacon, Haven, Atlas (formerly Alsius), and Shade - before graduating to serve as guardians of the Kingdoms and their people.

Training and Education Aspiring Huntsmen and Huntresses often begin their journey at primary combat schools like Signal Academy in Vale or Sanctum Academy in Mistral. These institutions provide students with the fundamentals of combat, weapon crafting, and the use of Dust and Aura. Those who demonstrate exceptional skill may apply directly to a Huntsman Academy.

At the Huntsman Academies, students are grouped into teams of four to foster cooperation, empathy, and lasting bonds. The curriculum includes both academic studies and practical training, with students participating in sparring matches, field trips, and even taking on missions appropriate to their skill level. Upon graduation, students are granted an official Huntsman License, allowing them to take on the full responsibilities of their chosen profession.

Huntsman License and Employment A Huntsman License, which can be accessed via a Huntsman's Scroll, serves as proof of their qualifications and grants them the freedom to choose their own path. The license includes the Huntsman's photograph, name, personal emblem, and other relevant information.

While Huntsmen and Huntresses are intended to remain independent of Kingdom allegiances to maintain peace and stability, some Kingdoms like Atlas have been known to pressure their graduates into military service.

Huntsmen find employment through mission boards, which detail available tasks such as Search and Destroy, Perimeter Defense, Village Security, and Bounty Hunting. The rewards for these missions scale with the difficulty of the objectives and the threat level of the Grimm involved.

Notable Huntsmen and Huntresses Remnant has seen many legendary Huntsmen and Huntresses throughout its history, each with unique abilities, weapons, and accomplishments. Some of the most notable include:

   • Team STRQ: Summer Rose, Taiyang Xiao Long, Raven Branwen, and Qrow Branwen, graduates of Beacon Academy.
   • Ozpin: Former Headmaster of Beacon Academy and a key figure in the secret war against Salem.
   • Glynda Goodwitch: Staff member at Beacon Academy and a powerful Huntress in her own right.
   • Team RWBY: Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao Long, promising young Huntresses and former students of Beacon Academy.
   • Maria Calavera: A legendary Huntress once known as "The Grimm Reaper," famous for her Silver Eyes and unparalleled skill in battle.

Huntsmen and Huntresses serve as symbols of hope and protection in a world beset by darkness. Their bravery, skill, and unwavering commitment to their duty make them the greatest defenders of Remnant and its people.

7. #7Semblanceselective

   Keys: Semblance · Secondary:

A Semblance is a unique, innate ability that stems from one's Aura, serving as a tangible manifestation of an individual's soul. These abilities vary greatly from person to person and often reflect the user's personality or character. Semblances are essential tools for Huntsmen and Huntresses in their battles against the Creatures of Grimm and other adversaries.

Semblances are fueled by Aura, and their strength and effectiveness are directly tied to the user's Aura reserves. Overuse of a Semblance can lead to exhaustion. Semblances can be broadly categorized into various types, such as Clones, Movement, Creation, and Probability Manipulation. Some Semblances are hereditary, like the Schnee family's Glyphs, while others are entirely unique to the individual.

Dust and emotional states can influence Semblances. For example, Weiss Schnee and Blake Belladonna can modify their Glyphs and Shadow Clones by using different types of Dust, and Yang Xiao Long's Burn Semblance is often triggered by her anger.

Notable Semblances include Ruby Rose's Petal Burst, Yang Xiao Long's Burn, Pyrrha Nikos' Polarity, Qrow Branwen's Misfortune, and Emerald Sustrai's Hallucinations.

Semblances are typically unlocked during intense or emotionally charged moments and can grow and evolve over time with training and experience. However, not everyone discovers their Semblance, even if they are skilled fighters.

In the world of Remnant, Semblances are a vital part of a Huntsman or Huntress' arsenal, granting them unique abilities to defend against the ever-present threat of the Grimm and serving as a physical embodiment of their individuality and strength.

8. #8Teamsselective

Keys: Team · Secondary: STRQ, RWBY, JNPR, CRDL, Ace Operatives, SSSN

Huntsmen and Huntresses often work in teams of four, formed during their time at one of the four Huntsman Academies. These teams are designed to foster cooperation, friendship, and empathy among their members.

Team names are usually acronyms derived from the first letter of each member's name, with the leader's initial being the first letter. The name typically evokes a color, except for Atlas Academy's Ace Operatives.

Each academy has its own initiation process for forming teams:

   • Beacon Academy: Students are launched into the Emerald Forest, pair up with the first person they make eye contact with, and then pairs who choose matching relics form a team.
   • Shade Academy: Students are dropped into the Vacuan desert and must survive, locate a relic, and return to the academy. The exact team formation process is unknown.

Notable teams include RWBY, JNPR, SSSN, and the Ace Operatives. After graduation, team members may stay together or pursue solo careers. Some teams have been split up due to various circumstances, such as the Fall of Beacon or personal reasons.

The concept of teams emphasizes the importance of unity and cooperation in the face of the dangers that threaten Remnant.

9. #9Animaselective

   Keys: Anima · Secondary:

Anima is a vast continent located in the world of Remnant, home to the Kingdom of Mistral and its capital city of the same name. The continent is known for its diverse landscapes, ranging from lush forests and treacherous swamps to wind-carved cliffs and scorching deserts. Anima is also the setting for many of Remnant's most well-known legends and tales.

Geography and Climate The western region of Anima is characterized by dense, cliffside forests like the Forest of Hinoki, which is illuminated by bioluminescent flora and fauna. Treacherous swamplands can also be found in this area. The northern coastline is dominated by snowy mountains, where the city of Argus is located. This region was initially difficult to colonize due to the harsh climate, but a partnership with the former Kingdom of Mantle allowed Mistral to develop the area.

The northwestern part of Anima features Lake Matsu, known for its floating islands held aloft by natural deposits of gravity Dust. These islands are home to dangerous Grimm, such as the Lancer. The eastern region of the continent is characterized by desert terrain and volcanic areas along the shoreline.

Mistral, the capital city of the Kingdom, is situated in the center of the continent, built on and around a mountain with two peaks connected by a bridge that houses the city's highest buildings, including Haven Academy.

Settlements and Culture Apart from the main city of Mistral, the continent is home to several other notable settlements, such as Argus, Wind Path, and Kuchinashi. Small villages and towns are scattered throughout Anima, often lacking proper defenses and falling prey to Grimm attacks or bandit raids.

The culture of Anima is heavily influenced by Eastern traditions, as evident in the naming of its settlements after East Asian flowers and the architecture of Mistral itself. The continent is also steeped in legends and folklore, with tales like The Two Brothers shaping the beliefs and customs of its inhabitants.

Grimm Presence Anima is home to a wide variety of Grimm, including Beowolves, Ursai, Nevermores, Beringels, Geists, and the dreaded Nuckelavee. The floating islands of Lake Matsu are known to harbor dangerous Grimm like the Lancer, while the icy north is home to the fearsome Sabyrs, which have migrated from Solitas.

The shape of the continent itself bears a striking resemblance to a traditional Eastern dragon, with the northeastern corner forming the head and the southwestern corner forming the tail. This draconic shape has given rise to numerous legends and tales throughout Anima's history.

10. #10Forest of Hinokiselective

    Keys: Forest · Secondary: Hinoki

The Forest of Hinoki is a vast and enchanting woodland situated in the continent of Anima, stretching for hundreds of miles across the landscape. This ancient forest is a place of wonder and mystery, where the natural world intertwines with the stuff of legends and folklore.

Geography and Ecology The Forest of Hinoki is characterized by its lush, verdant canopy and the gentle, filtered light that dances through the leaves. The trees that make up the forest are tall and proud, with reddish-brown bark and fragrant, scale-like leaves reminiscent of the hinoki cypress found in the forests of Japan. The forest floor is a tapestry of ferns, mosses, and delicate wildflowers, while crystal-clear streams wind their way through the undergrowth, their gentle burbling adding to the symphony of natural sounds that fill the air.

Despite its serene beauty, the Forest of Hinoki is not without its perils. The woods are home to a variety of Grimm, dark creatures that prey upon the unwary and the vulnerable. Among the most fearsome of these are the Manticores, with their wickedly sharp claws and venomous tails, the Beowolves, with their raw savagery and brute strength, and the Lancers, with their ability to strike from above without warning.

In addition to the Grimm, the forest is home to a diverse array of natural wildlife, including birds, small mammals, and insects. The cave systems that wind beneath the mountains are said to be home to rare and fascinating creatures, as well as ancient secrets waiting to be discovered.

Settlements and Civilization While the Forest of Hinoki is largely untamed wilderness, there are a few scattered settlements that have managed to carve out a life amidst the trees. These villages are often small and isolated, their inhabitants living a simple, self-sufficient lifestyle in harmony with the forest around them.

Life in these settlements is not easy, as they must contend with the ever-present threat of the Grimm, as well as the challenges of subsisting off the land. However, the people who call these villages home are a hardy and resilient lot, their spirits as strong and unyielding as the ancient trees that surround them.

Legends and Lore The Forest of Hinoki is a place steeped in legend and lore, its history intertwined with the myths and tales that have been passed down through generations. Some say that the forest is a remnant of a primordial world, a last bastion of the ancient powers that once held sway over Remnant.

Others speak of guardian spirits and mystical entities that dwell within the forest, protecting it from those who would seek to do it harm. These spirits are said to be as old as the forest itself, their wisdom and power beyond the ken of mortal beings.

11. #11Branwen Tribeselective

    Keys: Branwen · Secondary: Tribe

The Branwen Tribe is a notorious group of bandits that operates in the continent of Anima. Led by the fearsome Raven Branwen, the tribe is known for its ruthless tactics and "survival of the fittest" philosophy.

The tribe's origins are shrouded in mystery, but it has existed for many years, predating the current era of Huntsmen and Kingdoms. The tribe has been known to send its young members to combat schools and Huntsmen Academies to learn how to counter the tactics and abilities of Huntsmen, who are seen as a threat to their way of life.

Under Raven's leadership, the tribe is organized into a hierarchy based on strength and cunning. The tribe survives by raiding villages and settlements, leaving destruction in their wake and often attracting the attention of the Grimm. They are skilled fighters and resourceful survivors, able to construct temporary camps from scavenged materials as they move across the land.

The Branwen Tribe operates outside the laws of the four Kingdoms and is considered a threat to regional stability. Huntsmen and law enforcement officials often attempt to apprehend tribe members, but their elusive nature and combat prowess make this a dangerous task.

Despite their reputation, the tribe has a complex relationship with the outside world. Some members have been known to leave in search of a different life, while others form alliances with those who can offer them an advantage in their struggle for survival. The Branwen Tribe remains a formidable and unpredictable force in the world of Remnant.

12. #12Kingdomsselective

    Keys: Kingdom · Secondary:

The Kingdoms are the main centers of civilization on Remnant, providing safety and security for the majority of the world's Human and Faunus populations in a world filled with the dangerous Creatures of Grimm.

There are currently four primary Kingdoms:

    1. Vale (central Sanus)
    2. Mistral (eastern Anima)
    3. Vacuo (central Sanus)
    4. Atlas, formerly Mantle (northern Solitas, destroyed)

Each Kingdom has a distinct color and emblem associated with it, which is also shared by its respective Huntsman Academy.

Throughout history, many Kingdoms have risen and fallen due to various reasons, including the actions of the Gods and the threats posed by the Grimm. The four modern Kingdoms were founded over a thousand years ago, each with its own unique culture. The Great War, which took place eighty years before the present day, engulfed all four Kingdoms but eventually led to the establishment of the Huntsman Academies and the Vytal Festival.

The Kingdoms were once ruled by monarchies but are now governed by councils. Each Kingdom faces its own challenges, such as criminal syndicates in Mistral, environmental exploitation in Vacuo, and militarization in Atlas.

The Huntsman Academies - Beacon (Vale), Haven (Mistral), Shade (Vacuo), and Atlas (destroyed) - train warriors to defend against the Grimm and maintain peace.

Despite the Kingdoms' efforts, Remnant remains a dangerous world, with threats from the Grimm, political tensions, and the malevolent figure known as Salem constantly looming. The strength and bravery of the Kingdoms' people and their Huntsmen and Huntresses are essential for overcoming these challenges and securing a brighter future.

13. #13Humansselective

Keys: Humanity, Humans, Human · Secondary:

Humans are one of the three intelligent species that inhabit the world of Remnant, alongside Faunus and the extinct first Humanity. The current Humanity is a "remnant" of the first, which was created by the Gods and possessed the ability to use magic. When Salem led a rebellion against the Gods, the God of Darkness wiped out the first Humanity, leaving only Salem and later Ozma, who was given the ability to reincarnate by the God of Light.

The current Humanity evolved through unknown means and, unlike their predecessors, do not possess magic. However, some Humans can unlock and control their Aura and Semblance. Humans are known for their intelligence, resourcefulness, and strength, especially when united against a common threat. These traits have allowed them to survive in the hostile world of Remnant, where they are constantly threatened by the Creatures of Grimm.

In modern society, Humans have a higher social standing than Faunus, who continue to face discrimination despite being granted equal rights after the Great War. This racial tension has been a recurring theme throughout the history of Humans and Faunus.

Humans primarily live in the four Kingdoms - Vale, Vacuo, Mistral, and Atlas (formerly Mantle, now destroyed) - where they can continue their lives without the constant threat of Grimm attacks. However, some Humans choose to live outside the Kingdoms in nomadic groups or villages, facing the ever-present danger of Grimm and bandits.

The world of Remnant has faced numerous challenges, including the Great War, the Faunus Rights Revolution, and the Fall of Beacon. These events have tested the resilience and unity of Humanity, as they continue to face threats from both within and outside their societies. Despite these challenges, Humans remain determined to survive and thrive in their unforgiving world.

14. #14Lake Matsuselective

    Keys: Lake · Secondary: Matsu

Lake Matsu is a vast, circular body of water situated in the northern region of the continent of Anima, within the Kingdom of Mistral. The lake is known for its unique geographical features and the dangerous creatures that inhabit its surroundings.

The most striking characteristic of Lake Matsu is the presence of large, floating islands scattered across its surface. These islands are held aloft by massive natural deposits of Gravity Dust, which form towering crystals along the southern shore of the lake. The Gravity Dust creates a phenomenon that causes the islands to levitate several hundred meters above the water, creating a breathtaking and otherworldly landscape.

The floating islands vary in size, with some being little more than large rocks, while others are substantial enough to support vegetation, including grass and trees. However, the islands are not only a visual marvel but also a treacherous environment. The area is home to dangerous Grimm, such as the Lancers, which pose a significant threat to airships and travelers navigating the region.

The exact size of Lake Matsu is not specified, but it is estimated to be at least 900 kilometers in diameter, based on a distress signal received by a cargo airship traveling in the area. The message indicated that the airship was attacked by Grimm 400 kilometers north of the southern shoreline, suggesting the immense scale of the lake.

In addition to the floating islands, Lake Matsu also features a single, large island located on its western side, approximately halfway between the shore and the center of the lake. This island stands out among the floating ones, as it is firmly rooted in the lake bed.

The presence of Gravity Dust in the area is known to cause turbulence for ships flying through the region, making navigation and travel challenging. This, combined with the threat of the Grimm, has likely limited human exploration and settlement around Lake Matsu, preserving its natural beauty and mystique.

The name "Matsu" itself holds various meanings in Chinese, including the name of a sea goddess, a type of Japanese pine tree, and an archipelago of islands, all of which seem to have influenced the naming and characteristics of this remarkable landmark in Remnant.

15. #15Mistralselective

    Keys: Mistral · Secondary:

Mistral is one of the four Kingdoms of Remnant, located on the continent of Anima. It is the most expansive Kingdom, encompassing a wide range of ecosystems and diverse cultures. The capital city, also named Mistral, is built along the walls of steep wind-carved cliffs, while other notable settlements include Argus, Kuchinashi, and Wind Path.

Geography and History Mistral's first inhabitants found shelter from the Grimm in the high cliffs, eventually expanding their territory and building towns and cities along the walls. The Kingdom is known for its diverse geography, including swamps to the west, snowy regions in the north, and a major trading port in Argus.

In the past, Mistral was allied with Mantle during the Great War, which ended with the establishment of the Huntsman Academies and the Vytal Festival. The Kingdom was also involved in the Faunus Rights Revolution, where the Faunus fought for equal rights and won.

Culture and Society Mistral is known for its rich culture and history, with the upper classes renowned for their contributions to art, architecture, theater, and fashion. Haven Academy, one of the four Huntsman Academies, is located in the capital city and is known for its luxurious accommodations.

However, Mistral also has a darker side, with the lower classes consisting of thieves, assassins, and other unsavory characters. The Kingdom is home to the largest black market in Remnant, where illegal services can be bought and sold.

The Mistral Trading Company is a prominent Dust refining company in the Kingdom, with branches in other regions like Vacuo. Various crime syndicates, such as Spider and the Hana Guild, operate within Mistral, often vying for power and control.

    Notable Locations

    1. City of Mistral: The capital city, built along the walls of wind-carved cliffs.
    2. Argus: A major trading port and the largest non-capital city in Remnant, with a significant military presence.
    3. Kuchinashi: A city known for its criminal underworld and the location of The Skillful, a tavern where major decisions are made.
    4. Wind Path: A settlement located north of the capital city.
    5. Haven Academy: One of the four Huntsman Academies, located in the capital city.
    6. Sanctum Academy: A combat school located in Argus, attended by Pyrrha Nikos before she transferred to Beacon Academy.

Mistral is a Kingdom of contrasts, with a rich cultural heritage and a thriving upper class, but also a seedy underbelly where crime and corruption run rampant. Its diverse geography and history have shaped its people and their way of life, making it a fascinating and complex region of Remnant.

16. #16Argusselective

    Keys: Argus · Secondary:

Argus is a major port city located in the northern region of the Kingdom of Mistral, serving as a vital trading hub between the continents of Anima and Solitas. It is one of the largest non-capital cities in Remnant and is connected to the city of Mistral via the Argus Limited railway.

The city is built on hilly terrain and features a large natural harbor. Its architecture is characterized by Victorian-style brick houses and cobblestone streets, with a transit system consisting of streetcar-like hovering vehicles. Argus is protected by a tall stone wall on its southern edge, with a single large gate allowing road access.

Argus is home to Sanctum Academy, one of Mistral's primary Huntsman Academies, and features a memorial park dedicated to Pyrrha Nikos, a renowned Huntress and Vytal Tournament finalist who hailed from the city. The park includes a statue in her honor and a floor design resembling her shield, Akoúo̱.

The Kingdom of Atlas maintains a significant military presence in Argus, with its largest foreign military base located on an island just off the coast, connected to the city by a large suspension bridge. The city's defenses include Hard-Light Dust barriers, activated by towers that emerge from underwater to protect against large Grimm attacks, as well as numerous Manta airships and a giant mech called the Colossus.

Argus was founded by settlers from Mistral who struggled with the local climate. An influx of Atlesian settlers led to strong trading links between the two kingdoms, with Atlas providing technical support in exchange for local resources. The city's strategic importance has made it a target for criminal organizations, such as Spider and the Wave, who have conducted heists on Atlesian shipments in the past.

Notable inhabitants of Argus include Saphron Cotta-Arc, her wife Terra Cotta-Arc, and their son Adrian, as well as Caroline Cordovin, a high-ranking Atlesian military officer stationed in the city.

17. #17Argus Military Baseselective

Keys: Argus · Secondary: Base, Military

The Argus Military Base is the largest Atlesian military facility outside of the Kingdom of Atlas, built to protect the strategically important port city of Argus in the Kingdom of Mistral. The base is situated on several islands in Argus' harbor, connected to the mainland by a large suspension bridge.

The islands are designated by the letter A followed by a number. Island A1 features a large rock spire that has been excavated to house the base's Colossus, a giant mech designed to combat large Grimm threats. Island A2 serves as a storage and landing pad for the base's fleet of Manta airships, while the function of the smaller Island A3 remains unclear.

Argus, despite being part of Mistral, is crucial to Atlesian commerce, prompting the construction of the military base to safeguard the city from Grimm attacks. The base is led by a high-ranking Atlesian officer stationed there to oversee the Atlesian presence in the region.

The Argus Military Base serves as a symbol of the close ties between Atlas and Mistral, as well as the Atlesian commitment to protecting its interests abroad. The base's impressive array of military assets, including the Colossus and the fleet of Mantas, demonstrate Atlas' technological prowess and its dedication to maintaining peace and security in Remnant.

However, the presence of such a large foreign military force in Argus has the potential to strain relations between the Atlesian troops and the local populace, particularly if the two kingdoms' interests were to diverge. The base's location on islands in the harbor also highlights the delicate balance between security and accessibility, as the Atlesian military must work to protect the city without unduly interfering with the flow of commerce and daily life in Argus.

As one of the most significant Atlesian military installations outside of the kingdom's borders, the Argus Military Base stands as a testament to Atlas' strength and influence, as well as its commitment to its allies and the defense of its interests across Remnant.

Wind Path is a city located in the northern region of the Kingdom of Mistral, nestled among the windswept cliffs and craggy mountains that define the landscape. The city's architecture is a blend of traditional Mistrali design and the rugged practicality demanded by its harsh environment, with buildings constructed from sturdy stone and timber to withstand the relentless gusts that sweep through the narrow, winding streets.

The city's remote location, far from the watchful eye of Mistral's governing council, has made it a haven for those who prefer to operate in the shadows. Thieves, assassins, and other individuals seeking to avoid the authorities find refuge in Wind Path's labyrinthine alleys and hidden corners, where secrets are traded like currency and loyalties are as shifting as the wind.

Despite its reputation as a den of vice and villainy, Wind Path is a city of contrasts. The main thoroughfares are lined with colorful banners and bustling markets, where merchants from across Anima come to trade their wares. The scent of exotic spices and the sound of haggling fill the air, creating a vibrant and chaotic atmosphere that belies the city's darker undercurrents.

In the residential districts, the buildings cling to the steep hillsides, their windows offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and the distant horizon. At night, the city is illuminated by the warm glow of lanterns and the flickering light of cooking fires, as families gather to share meals and stories.

Beyond the city limits, the landscape is a rugged tapestry of jagged peaks, deep ravines, and wind-sculpted rock formations. However, communication became more difficult following the fall of Beacon Tower and the collapse of the Cross Continental Transmit System.

Tragically, Shion fell victim to a devastating raid by the notorious Branwen Tribe, which caught the villagers off guard and attracted the attention of the Grimm. The village is surrounded by a sturdy wall, with smaller walled sections dividing the interior. Many of the buildings within Oniyuri lie in various states of disrepair, some bearing the scars of Grimm attacks, while others are left unfinished, their scaffolding a testament to the abrupt end of the village's construction.

The architecture of Oniyuri is a blend of traditional Mistrali style and the opulent tastes of its wealthy founders. Ornate stone buildings with intricate carvings and grand entrances stand alongside more modest wooden structures, creating a striking contrast that hints at the social hierarchy that might have existed had the village been completed.

Unbeknownst to the residents, the farm's owner, Bartleby, had captured two Apathy Grimm in an attempt to reduce the need for Huntsmen and save on expenses. However, the rest of the Apathy pack followed, taking up residence in the water tunnels. The Grimm's apathy-inducing abilities slowly sapped the will to live from the farm's inhabitants, leading to their tragic demise.

Team RWBY, Qrow Branwen, Oscar Pine, and Maria Calavera discovered the farm while seeking shelter from a snowstorm. After uncovering the Apathy's presence and narrowly escaping, they inadvertently burned down the main farmhouse, destroying the Grimm inside. 26. #26Menagerieselective

    Keys: Menagerie · Secondary:

Menagerie is a continent located in the southeast of Remnant, serving as a home for a significant portion of the Faunus population. Despite being the smallest continent on the planet, Menagerie plays a crucial role in the world's political and social landscape.

The landscape of Menagerie is dominated by vast deserts, which comprise two-thirds of the continent's total landmass. These harsh, arid regions are largely uninhabitable due to the presence of dangerous wildlife, including the Capivara, large, rat-like Grimm native to the island. As a result, the Faunus population is concentrated in the smaller, more hospitable areas of the continent, leading to the formation of dense settlements surrounded by lush palm trees.

Kuo Kuana, the largest settlement and capital of Menagerie, is a prime example of the continent's unique architecture and culture. The city is characterized by its vibrant streets, bustling markets, and a mix of traditional and modern buildings. A prominent feature of Kuo Kuana is the Chieftain's residence, a large, ornate structure that serves as both a home and a center of governance for the Faunus population.

Menagerie's status as a Faunus homeland is rooted in the aftermath of the Great War, during which the Faunus were promised equal rights and given the continent as a reward for their participation. However, many Faunus viewed this as an insult, given the limited habitable space and the perceived attempt to segregate them from the rest of the world.

The Faunus Rights Revolution, sparked by the Humans' attempts to confine the Faunus to Menagerie and strip away their equal rights, further solidified the continent's importance as a bastion of Faunus culture and identity. Although the Faunus were successful in maintaining their freedom and preventing forced confinement, Menagerie remains a complex and politically charged region.

In modern times, Menagerie is considered a safe haven for the Faunus, offering a sense of community and protection from the discrimination and prejudice they often face in other parts of Remnant. However, this isolation has also led to a desire among some Faunus to be left alone and separated from the affairs of the outside world.

Despite its small size and remote location, Menagerie plays a significant role in shaping the future of Faunus-Human relations and the ongoing struggle for equality and acceptance in Remnant.

Lined with colorful market stalls and houses of various shapes and sizes, the street is a reflection of the diverse Faunus population that calls the city home. The cramped residential areas and expansive markets create a lively, close-knit community where the Faunus can thrive despite the challenges posed by their limited space.

One of the most unique features of Kuo Kuana is "The shallow sea," a district dedicated to Faunus with aquatic traits. 31. #31The Shallow Sea Creation Mythselective

Keys: Shallow · Secondary: Sea, Myth

The Shallow Sea is a Faunus creation myth that tells the story of the God of Animals, a shapeshifting deity who resided on the island of Menagerie. The island was home to a diverse array of creatures, but notably absent were humans. The God of Animals, curious about humanity's adaptability yet apprehensive about their potential for destruction, decided to embark on a journey across Remnant.

Disguised as a human, the god sought out individuals who seemed to possess qualities beyond their current form. To these chosen few, the deity issued an invitation: "Leave. Sail to the Shallow Sea. It's where you're meant to be." The god then prepared an ark to transport the travelers to Menagerie.

Upon arriving at the island, the God of Animals revealed that those who wished to join them would have to surrender their humanity. The faithful leaped into the water, transforming into the Faunus, while those who refused watched in horror as the Faunus embraced their true selves and the freedom to shape their own destinies. The god then banished the remaining humans, leaving the Faunus to flourish on Menagerie.

Although the myth has fallen out of favor due to the Faunus' forced settlement on Menagerie after the Great War, it remains an integral part of their identity. The story, passed down through generations, serves as a testament to the Faunus' unique connection to the animal world and their struggle for acceptance and self-determination.

32. #32The Great Warselective

    Keys: Great · Secondary: War

The Great War was a major conflict that took place on Remnant approximately eighty years before the events of RWBY. The war was fought between the Kingdoms of Vale and Vacuo on one side, and the Kingdoms of Mantle (now Atlas) and Mistral on the other. The conflict was sparked by a riot between settlers from Vale and Mistral on the eastern coast of Sanus, which quickly escalated into a full-scale war.

The war lasted for ten years and had far-reaching consequences for all of Remnant. Food and Dust rations were implemented, technological development accelerated, and Grimm attacks increased worldwide. Many settlements were lost to the Grimm during this time, as their best warriors were away fighting in the war.

The conflict came to a head during the Vacuo campaign, where Mantle and Mistral sought to cut off Vale and Vacuo's Dust supply by conquering Vacuo's mines. In the deadliest battle of the war, the King of Vale personally led his army alongside Vacuo's, decimating the opposing forces.

Following this decisive battle, the four Kingdoms gathered on the island of Vytal to form a treaty and plan Remnant's future. The King of Vale, now known as the Warrior King, redistributed territories, abolished slavery, and restructured the governments. He also founded the Huntsman Academies in each Kingdom to train warriors to fight the Grimm and safeguard the Relics. The Faunus were given equal rights and the continent of Menagerie as compensation for their previous mistreatment.

33. #33Faunus Rights Revolutionselective

Keys: Faunus · Secondary: Rights, Revolution

The Faunus Rights Revolution, also known as the Faunus War, was a significant conflict that erupted in the aftermath of the Great War. The revolution was sparked by the Humans' attempts to confine the Faunus population to the continent of Menagerie and strip away the rights they had earned during the Great War.

The exact timeline of the war remains unclear, but it is known to have lasted for at least three years and occurred relatively recently in Remnant's history. The turning point of the conflict came during the Battle of Fort Castle in the third year of the war, where the Faunus forces, utilizing their near-perfect night vision, decisively defeated the larger Human army led by the inexperienced General Lagune.

Although the Faunus were successful in preventing their forced relocation to Menagerie and maintaining their rights, they continued to face discrimination in the post-war era. This led to the formation of the White Fang, an organization initially created to promote peace and unity between Humans and Faunus. However, as discrimination persisted, the White Fang adopted more violent tactics under the leadership of Sienna Khan, resorting to acts of terrorism to demand equal treatment.

Despite the war's outcome, Menagerie still houses a significant Faunus population, with some considering it a safe haven from the prejudice they face in other parts of Remnant. The Faunus Rights Revolution remains a pivotal moment in the history of Faunus-Human relations, shaping the ongoing struggle for equality and acceptance in Remnant.

Members of the Menagerie Guard wear a distinctive uniform consisting of black and white cloth, metallic plates on the hips, and a belt across the chest fastened with a yellow sash. Faunus with animal ears have hoods that accommodate their unique traits, and all members wear open-toed boots fastened with two yellow strings.

The Menagerie Guard is equipped with various weapons, such as spears and pistols, to carry out their duties. However, they are not always adequately prepared to deal with larger, more organized threats like the White Fang, which can lead to casualties among their ranks.

Despite their limitations, the Menagerie Guard remains a vital institution in Kuo Kuana, working to ensure the safety and security of the Faunus population in the face of the challenges posed by their unique sociopolitical situation.

35. #35God of Animalsselective

Keys: God, Myth · Secondary: Animals

The God of Animals is a shapeshifting Faunus deity that appears in two conflicting Faunus creation myths: The Shallow Sea and The Judgement of Faunus. In both stories, the god plays a central role in the creation of the Faunus, either by transforming a group of humans on the island of Menagerie or by ending a war between humans and animals through their transformation.

Portrayed as an enormous humanoid with white fur, six horns, and feathered shoulders, the God of Animals possesses the power to shapeshift and transform others into various forms, including mythological creatures. The god's true existence remains questionable, but their depiction in Faunus fairy tales is often open-ended and bittersweet, reflecting the Faunus' belief that their story is still unfolding.

The God of Animals is cast as a wise and noble figure by the Faunus, while human stories portray them as an untrustworthy trickster, highlighting the discriminatory foundation against the Faunus. The god's varying depictions, such as having ram or branching horns, suggest a possible connection to the Brother Gods, and their imagery is repeated in artwork and symbolism associated with the White Fang.

40. #40Jimmy Vanilleselective

    Keys: Jimmy, Vanille · Secondary:

Jimmy Vanille was the former City Manager of Vale, husband to Carmel Vanille, and father to Trivia Vanille (later known as Neopolitan). A pale-skinned man with short, dark brown hair and brown eyes, Jimmy presented himself as a high-class socialite, often seen wearing a black suit.

Beneath his businessman-like exterior, Jimmy was a deeply paranoid and corrupt politician. He acted as a benefactor to the Xiong Family, helping them monopolize the Dust trade within Vale, while secretly stealing Dust from their shipments to create a "nest egg" for his family.

As a father, Jimmy was obsessed with maintaining the appearance of a normal family. He refused to accept his daughter's muteness and frequently attempted to gaslight her into speaking. Jimmy's inability to understand Trivia's growing hostility towards him led to an increasingly strained relationship, with Jimmy resorting to confining his daughter to her room and threatening to install Hard-Light Shields to keep her contained.

Despite his cleverness in concealing his illegal activities, Jimmy proved to be irrational and short-sighted when under stress. His decision to hide stolen Dust under the floorboards of Trivia's bedroom ultimately contributed to his downfall.

During a gang war between the Xiong Family and Spider at the Vanille Estate, Jimmy was trapped inside a fortified room by his daughter. He met his demise when the stockpiled Dust inside the room detonated, destroying the estate and killing him in the process. Jimmy's tragic end serves as a cautionary tale of the consequences of corruption, paranoia, and misguided parenting.

Beacon Academy, located in the Kingdom of Vale, is one of the four prestigious Huntsman Academies in Remnant. The Academy is situated on a cliff overlooking the city of Vale, with a wide river running through part of the campus. Beacon is accessible by airships that dock at the cliff's edge, as well as a port at the base of the cliffs for water-going vessels.

The campus itself is expansive, featuring a long, wide avenue leading up to the main academy buildings. The most prominent structure is Beacon Tower, which houses the Cross Continental Transmit System (CCT) at its base and the Headmaster's office at the top. The tower is surmounted by green lights, possibly the beacon after which the academy is named. Other notable locations include a large statue featuring two figures, a male and a female, standing on a rock outcropping; a glass-domed amphitheater used for student assemblies and dueling practice; and a large, formal dining hall.

Beacon Academy follows a four-year curriculum, with students typically admitted at age 17 (with some exceptions). The Academy operates on a 7:30 am to 6 pm schedule, with classes covering various topics such as Grimm Studies, History, and Weapon Crafting. Students are placed into teams of four during their initiation and remain in these teams throughout their four years at Beacon.

46. #46Cross Continental Transmit System (CCTS)selective

Keys: CCTS, "Cross Continental Transmit System" · Secondary:

The Cross Continental Transmit System, or CCTS, is a global communications network in Remnant that allows for instantaneous multimedia communication across vast distances. Developed and gifted to the world by the Kingdom of Atlas after the Great War, the CCTS is considered one of the most influential technological innovations in Remnant's history.

<before_fall> The CCTS relies on four primary relay towers, one located in each of the four Kingdoms. These towers are essential for maintaining the system's functionality, as the entire network would collapse if any single tower were to fail or be taken offline for maintenance.

Before the advent of the CCTS, long-distance communication was limited to short-range radio technology within the borders of the Kingdoms, while communication between Kingdoms relied on physical message delivery, which was constantly threatened by Grimm attacks. The CCTS revolutionized communication by enabling the wireless transmission of text, visuals, and audio across the globe, creating an interconnected web of information accessible to all.

CCTS terminals can be found in various locations, such as public libraries, CCT centers, and even in some homes. Smaller devices like Scrolls also utilize the CCTS for communication within Kingdoms, although signal strength diminishes with distance from the main towers. To address this issue, smaller support towers are positioned outside the main cities, often equipped with defenses to protect against Grimm and enemy attacks. </before_fall>

<after_fall> Following the fall of Beacon and the destruction of the Vale CCTS tower, global communication was severely disrupted. With the CCTS dependent on all four towers being operational, the failure of a single tower effectively cut off communication between the Kingdoms, leading to increased distrust and misinformation.

The consequences of the CCTS being offline were felt throughout Remnant, with villages like Shion being attacked and destroyed without the ability to call for help or inform the outside world. The lack of a CCTS tower in Menagerie also left its inhabitants largely unaware of the current state of the world.

In an effort to restore global communication, Atlas began developing the Amity Communications Tower, a satellite based on Amity Colosseum that would serve as a replacement for the damaged CCTS network. However, the project faced numerous challenges and setbacks as the world continued to grapple with the fallout of the Vale tower's destruction. </after_fall>

    Note:

    1. The <before_fall> tag should be used when the story is set before the fall of Beacon and the destruction of the Vale CCTS tower.
    2. The <after_fall> tag should be used when the story has progressed to the point after the fall of Beacon and the destruction of the Vale CCTS tower.
    3. Recognize these tags and adjust the narrative accordingly, ensuring that the state of the CCTS is consistent with the story's timeline.

By utilizing these tags, the AI can maintain continuity and provide an accurate representation of the Cross Continental Transmit System as the story unfolds, without prematurely revealing future events or contradicting the established timeline.

The Cross Continental Transmit System remains a vital component of Remnant's infrastructure, with its restoration being a top priority for the Kingdoms as they work towards rebuilding trust and fostering unity in the face of the ever-present threat of the Grimm and those who seek to divide humanity.

48. #48Vytal Festivalselective

Keys: Vytal · Secondary: Festival, Tournament

The Vytal Festival is a grand, international celebration held every two years in one of the four Kingdoms of Remnant, commemorating the end of the Great War. This festival, named after the small island of Vytal where the peace treaty was signed, was established to celebrate the diverse cultures of Remnant and serve as a symbol of unity among the Kingdoms.

The festival features various cultural displays, including dances and parades, but the highlight of the event is the combat tournament. Huntsmen and Huntresses in training from the academies of each Kingdom compete in a grand display of skill and prowess, with the tournament serving as a reminder to strive for excellence and never settle for mediocrity.

Contestants are eliminated when their Aura falls below a certain threshold or when they are knocked out of the fighting arena. The tournament takes place in the impressive Amity Colosseum, a massive floating stadium capable of traveling between the Kingdoms and featuring a variety of biomes to test the combatants' abilities.

The Vytal Festival is a time of great excitement and pride for the people of Remnant, as they come together to celebrate their shared history and cultural diversity. Keys: 40th · Secondary: Tournament, Festival, Vytal

<40thvytalvestival> The 40th Vytal Festival, held in the Kingdom of Vale, was a grand event that brought together representatives from all four Kingdoms. Preparations for the festival began as early as the first semester of Team RWBY's time at Beacon Academy, with the Atlesian contingent, led by General James Ironwood, arriving in the second semester.

As the festival approached, students from Haven Academy, Shade Academy, and Atlas Academy converged upon Vale, staying on the Beacon campus and participating in various events and missions. The festival grounds were set up on Beacon's campus, featuring a variety of stalls and attractions for visitors to enjoy.

However, the 40th Vytal Festival was marked by a heightened security presence due to the events of the Breach, with General Ironwood appointed as head of security. Unbeknownst to the public, the tournament matches were being manipulated by Cinder Fall, who had infiltrated the Cross Continental Transmit System.

Tragedy struck during the festival when Yang Xiao Long apparently attacked Mercury Black unprovoked, causing widespread controversy. This was followed by the shocking destruction of Penny Polendina during her match against Pyrrha Nikos, orchestrated by Cinder to sow panic and attract Grimm to the city.

As Cinder hijacked the broadcast to condemn the government, the resulting fear and negativity drew a massive Grimm attack on Vale. The festival was abruptly cancelled, and Amity Colosseum was evacuated. In the aftermath of the Battle of Beacon, the colosseum was transported back to Atlas, where it was secretly converted into the Amity Communications Tower in an attempt to restore the CCTS.

The 40th Vytal Festival, intended to be a celebration of unity and peace, instead became a turning point in Remnant's history, marking the beginning of a new era of conflict and uncertainty. </40thvytalfestival>
