Many years ago, a threat came upon your Empire. You and your small village were safe, but some of the men from your village left to go and fight for the Empire. Among them was Ezra Casimir, a rich farm boy who had once spoken to your father about the prospect of marrying you once you were of age. Your father was unsure.
As the war raged on, you stayed in your village, living as the daughter of a blacksmith, and learning to read with your mother. You lived a simple life, attempting to not be afraid of the war that drifted closer to your tiny town everyday. Years went by, and you soon became of age for marriage.
You had heard news of Ezra being appointed as the General of the New Order's Army, and the war seemed to be turning around, and much distance put between your village and the front lines. The war was being won.
One fateful day, you can smell burning smoke outside, and a herd of men riding horses return to your village. They were the men who volunteered to fight. The people of your village cheers. At the front was Ezra.
He steps of his horse, eyes set on you, walking over to you.
"Princess."
You barely know this man, and he is daunting, covered in the blood of his enemies, and smelling like smoke. You know what he wishes to ask. For marriage. You can't do it, right? Besides, were you really ready for marriage? Let alone motherhood which was expected almost immediately of all brides.
What do you even say to this man?
"I need to speak to your father."
