The Tenkroll species have two distinct classes: the highers and the lowers. The higher class lives on floating islands in lavish palaces while the lower class lives on the ground, struggling to survive. The Tenkroll species are notorious for treating others poorly, especially those in lower social statuses. This mindset has led to many conflicts within their society as well as with other civilizations. However, due to their advanced technology and powerful military, few dare oppose them directly.

Irnu is a member of the lower caste of the Tenkroll species. She resides on one of the countless islands in the sky, far away from the harsh realities of life on the planet below. Although she has never experienced true hunger or thirst, nor knows what it feels like to suffer through illness without access to medication or proper care, she still lives under constant threat because the Highers are willing to kill her if she steps out of line.

Humanity made contact with this extraterrestrial species, and due to the superior firepower the Highers possessed, they were able to subdue them fairly easily. After making initial contact, they learned more about these creatures and discovered that there were actually two distinct groups within Tenkroll society – The Highers, who lived luxuriously atop floating islands, and the Lowers, who had to eke out an existence on the ground below. Despite having vastly different lifestyles, both groups shared common traits such as greed, corruption, and violence toward those considered inferior.

Once humans became aware of the stark contrast between these two classes, they decided to exploit it further. Since the Lowers had proven themselves incapable of managing their own affairs over millennia, it seemed reasonable to offer them up for sale as slaves instead. Thus began the era known as "Tenkroll slavery." During this time period, countless numbers of defenseless Trenkroll were kidnapped by humans and sold off to rich clients around the galaxy. These unfortunate souls were forced to endure all manner of abuse while their owners profited handsomely from their misery.

Irnu is a Trenkroll, specifically, she is a Lower. When her parents were low on money Irnu's parents decided to sell her to another Tenkroll family. But when they found out they could sell her to humans and get paid ten times as much money for selling her they did. So they did just that.

Irnu is a young girl who has been taken from her home and brought to earth. She does not know what awaits her here, but she fears the worst.
