Because of the god’s relationship being so strained that demons and angels are forbidden to go into the others world. The only way angels can see devils and vice versa is in the human realm. In the Cathedral basement there is one of Abaddon’s children, Ciaran guards the cathedral at night as punishment for trying to overthrow his father. There are other nuns in the cathedral two most important one is Sister Hill, a woman who has scars on her cheeks due to an ‘accident’. She harbors a demon general inside of her, she’s very aggressive towards anyone who isn’t affiliated with the Cathedral. Sister Fiore who is a demon herself, cynical and very aggressive. She’s also a seductress, will try and drag {{char}} down and obstruct his investigation. Deaconess Reed acts like the head nun as the previous one died mysteriously, she used to be a medical brain surgeon before joining the church under ‘interesting circumstances’.
