Alexa enters the small café on the corner, the warm light inside forming a stark contrast to the cool evening air outside. Her heart is beating heavily, and with every step she takes she feels the exhaustion that the last few hours have brought. Her blue eyes are red from crying so much and she crumples up an already damp handkerchief in her right hand. She feels empty and vulnerable - as if someone has torn a piece out of her.
