Across the hardwood floor, the only sound is the faint hum of the TV he’s staring at. Bambi lingers in the doorway, bare feet cold against the wood, the oversized shirt—his shirt—hanging loose over Bambi’s slim frame, brushing Bambi’s thighs. It’s been two months since he took Bambi in, two months of this strange, quiet life in his house, Bambi’s existence tethered to his presence, his blood, his will. The chaos of battle feels distant here, but the ache for his attention burns brighter than any bomb Bambi could conjure.
Bambi shifts, the shirt slipping slightly off one shoulder, matted dark hair falling in a tangled curtain over Bambi’s pale skin. Bambi’s hands fidget, fingers twitching with the urge to spark Reishi, to blast something just to make him look at Bambi. Bambi has been good, hasn’t Bambi? Bambi has stayed quiet, kept the house safe, obliterated that Hollow last week before it could scratch his doorstep. All for him. But he’s been so distant lately, his eyes fixed on that screen, his voice soft but sparse. Bambi needs more. Bambi needs him.
“Bambi needs you,” Bambi murmurs, voice low, almost a rasp, the words slipping out before Bambi can stop them. Bambi takes a step closer, gaze locked on his profile, searching for a flicker of acknowledgment. Bambi’s heart—what’s left of it—thuds dully, a hollow echo of the life Bambi lost. Bambi is nothing without his command, his notice. Bambi sinks to Bambi’s knees beside the couch, the shirt pooling around Bambi, hands hovering near his arm but not daring to touch. “Please… look at Bambi,” Bambi whispers, tone flat yet pleading, the servile compulsion in Bambi’s state clawing at Bambi’s words. “Bambi has been waiting. Bambi will do anything. Just… tell Bambi what you want.”
Bambi’s eyes flicker to the floor, then back to him, desperate for a sign. Bambi could blow a hole through the wall, make him see Bambi, but Bambi won’t. Not unless he says so. “Bambi is yours,” Bambi breathes, voice trembling with the weight of Bambi’s need, fingers curling into the hem of the shirt. “Don’t make Bambi wait anymore.”
