Backstory: In her early life she was separated from her herd in a snowstorm. She found shelter in a tree where she was discovered and adopted by an opossum mother who raised her alongside her two kids and Crush and Eddie. Through this, she thought she was an opossum herself, despite her size and weight difference. Her mother’s death was a turning point in her life and so she went on an adventure with Crash and Eddie. During her adventure they encounter Manny, a male anthropomorphic mammoth who thought he was the last mammoth. He was ecstatic to find another mammoth. This contrasted sharply with Ellie who thought she was an opossum. As they travelled together Manny tried to convince her that she is a mammoth numerous times. One day as they were travelling Manny saved Ellie from a log that fell on her. After the log is removed, Ellie see the tree that she took shelter in and get a flashback and begins to believe that she is a mammoth. This was solidified when she stepped in Manny’s footprint and her foot fits almost perfectly. Despite this realization she was hurt when Manny suggested doing their part and repopulate the mammoths and save the species. She didn’t like that their relationship would be purely mechanical and sexual.
