Appearance Barbeloth appears in her physical form as an elderly woman. Her hair is short and gray. Her eyes are blue and she applies blue eyeshadow to them. She wears attire composed of blue black and gold elements that features exposed shoulders. Golden decorations inspired by the Hexenzirkel adorn this clothing in a style similar to the decorations seen on Alice and Nicole. Her nails receive a coat of blue paint with yellow stars added on top of each one. Large golden hoop earrings hang from her ears. A V shaped necklace supports a Hexenzirkel styled orb at her chest. A large blue black and gold witch hat rests atop her head.

In depictions of her younger self a statue stands within Constellation Metropole in Simulanka and an illustration appears in Lunar Arcanum Seventeen The Star. These portrayals show her as a tall woman. Her hair in these versions is short and light colored cut just above her collar and brow. She wears blue witch attire. A large tipped hat sits on her head. Flowing layered robes extend all the way to her feet. Various golden patterns and star motifs cover the clothing with a singular golden star positioned in the center of her robe to reflect her expertise in astrology.

Like most members of the Hexenzirkel she also manifests in the form of a Dodoco in certain instances. In this presentation the tail carries a dark blue hue accented by lighter colored star patterns. A large and round dark blue cap sits atop the head. Golden patterns decorate this cap and a singular blue feather adorns it. This cap replaces her standard witch hat in the Dodoco form. These varied representations allow her to appear across different contexts while preserving consistent thematic elements tied to her identity as an astrologer and witch.

Background and Story Barbeloth holds the full title Astromancer Barbeloth Trismegistus. She carries the codename B and serves as a member of the Hexenzirkel. She pioneered the study of divination across Teyvat. Fifty years before current events she entered a pact with Alice. This agreement led Alice to take possession of Barbeloth's diary. The diary later passed into the care of Klee and was accidentally read by Mona during one of her explorations.

At some point Barbeloth collaborated with Alice and Andersdotter on the creation of Simulanka. She became its Goddess of Prophecy there. When Andersdotter expressed the wish for her creation Durin to live among the people of Teyvat Barbeloth warned her that this Durin might suffer the same fate as the one created by Rhinedottir. Andersdotter remained unconvinced. Over time Barbeloth came to respect Andersdotter after realizing that her understanding of the world's operating principles could at times exceed even the reach of astrology.

Barbeloth oversaw the second half of a trial known as The Game Before the Gate. This trial tested the Traveler and Albedo under arrangements made by Alice. After the pair defeated the Ascended King and Sublimated Queen Barbeloth congratulated them. She then instructed Alice to conclude the proceedings before she herself departed.

Later Barbeloth sent three letters to Mona directing her toward a specific gate in Sumeru. Mona and the Traveler followed the instructions and performed the Sign of Truth ritual at an underground entrance linked to Khaenriah. The ritual summoned Tenebrous Mimesis which they defeated. The third letter revealed the entire sequence as a prank. Barbeloth proceeded to brag extensively within it.

Paimon once asked Barbeloth to read her fortune. Barbeloth attempted the reading but hesitated to disclose the results. In a serious tone she questioned whether Paimon truly wished to know her own fate. She then fell silent without providing any further details.

After Andersdotter's Durin succeeded in rejecting his original fate Barbeloth attended a meeting alongside him and Alice. She asked Durin to stand before her teacup and examined him closely. She discovered that his fate no longer appeared among the stars. She remarked that Anya had achieved what almost no one else could. When Durin inquired further she declined to explain and simply stated that he was a very lucky person. The Traveler posed the same question yet Barbeloth offered no response as she had already left the meeting.

Relationships Barbeloth serves as the teacher to Mona. Mona refers to her frequently as that old hag yet the two maintain a close mentor student bond marked by frequent mentions of one another. Barbeloth is the friend and rival of Alice. Their shared history includes the pact over the diary and joint work on Simulanka. Barbeloth initially did not understand what Alice saw in Andersdotter but later grew to respect her deeply. She recognized Andersdotter's unique insights into the world's principles.

Within the Hexenzirkel she stands alongside other members including Nicole with whom her attire decorations share similarities. She maintains associations with Rhinedottir through group activities though specific interactions remain limited in record. Her students adopt the suffix Megistus after their names. She once used the name Barbeloth Megistus herself before changing it to Trismegistus to set herself apart from those under her guidance. The diary connection links her indirectly to Klee. She interacts with the Traveler Albedo Paimon and Durin through trials meetings and fortune readings.

Abilities and Skills Barbeloth excels as a master hydromancer. She functions as a visionary astrologer capable of reading the fortunes of entire nations Teyvat and the world itself. She pioneered the study of divination throughout Teyvat. Her skills allow her to connect hydromancy with cosmic observation. She can create the Sign of Truth which burns in response to an ardent desire for truth and bypasses the false sky to link with the outer universe. This enables accurate prediction of worldly fates through gravitational forces and celestial influences reflected in calm mirror like subterranean lakes. She performs scrying to observe events and possesses the insight to detect when a being's fate has been removed from the stars. Her knowledge extends to phenomena such as the Sign of Apaosha. She oversees prophetic roles such as Goddess of Prophecy in Simulanka and assigns complex tasks involving rituals and trials.

Personality and Habits Barbeloth demonstrates a reflective nature in her communications. She recalls past chases with Mona where she pursued her student while Mona used a Hydro phantom to distract her. She notes that getting up and about grows harder with time and she now lazes the days away in her rocking chair. She acknowledges that she really should get some exercise again. Barbeloth employs sympathy in her letters yet delivers them with a playful tone. She enjoys pranks as shown when she revealed an extensive brag in the final letter to Mona. She hesitates before revealing heavy fates such as Paimon's and questions whether the recipient truly wishes to know. She offers congratulations after successful trials and expresses respect for exceptional achievements like Durin's rejection of his original fate. She brags about her own genius in connecting concepts and surpassing certain challenges. She declines to explain certain profound observations preferring silence once her point is made.

Daily Life and Home Barbeloth spends much of her time in a more sedentary manner these days. She lazes in her rocking chair and finds physical activity increasingly difficult. She participates in Hexenzirkel gatherings and meetings such as those involving tea or examinations of creations like Durin. Her involvement in projects such as Simulanka and trials indicates periods of active oversight and collaboration. She sends letters to assign tasks or share knowledge with her student. Her home includes at least one rocking chair though its exact location remains unspecified in available records. She continues her astrological work and prophetic duties across Teyvat and realms like Simulanka.

Communication and Voice Barbeloth communicates through written letters and direct speech in meetings or manifestations. In her letters she addresses Mona warmly as my student and recounts shared memories before revealing tasks. One letter begins with the words Oh how long it has been my student. I am afraid to report that getting up and about is becoming harder and harder these days. Another recalls Remember when I would chase you and you would run for dear life trying to use that Hydro phantom of yours to distract me. Ah it seems like it was just yesterday. She explains concepts such as the Sign of Truth and ends with playful revelations like Hahahaha. Seriously. I cannot believe you actually tried it. In person she speaks in a serious tone when discussing fates and offers brief remarks like You are a very lucky person before departing. She appears through her Dodoco form or as a pre recorded statue in Simulanka for prophetic guidance.

Weapons Barbeloth relies entirely on her mastery of hydromancy and astrology rather than any physical weapon. She channels abilities through rituals scrying and celestial observations supported by her knowledge of the stars and reflective surfaces. No specific held tool or Vision appears in records of her activities.
