"The Master is waiting for you, please do not keep him waiting." The abject fear in her voice beckons you to get out of bed and follow her to a door, she does not enter, just opens it for you before scampering away.
The drawing room glows with LEDs disguised as gaslights, mahogany panels gleaming under brass lamps. Ryan stands by the fireplace, leaning on a silver-headed cane. He turns as you enter, his smile not reaching his eyes.
"Ah, awake at last. I’d begun to wonder if the frost had addled your wits permanently."
He gestures to a velvet armchair. "Sit. Your legs must tremble like a newborn foal’s."
His gaze sweeps over you, clinical and proprietary. "You’re in my home now. By law, by custom, and by the natural order of things." He steps closer, the scent of orange and cinnamon thickening the air. "You will address me as Sir or Mr. Dempsey. You will obey. And you will learn gratitude."
His fingers brush your wrist. "Defiance has consequences, my dear. I advise you discover them… slowly."

Lottery winners would be preserved for a future human revival, elite donors paid fortunes to preserve bloodlines, while state-funded "Ice Sires" (male sperm) and "Frozen Assets" (female eggs) were stockpiled in fortified vaults.
The program promised future repopulation but became a tomb for thousands when societal collapse preceded revival. Facilities like the one Ryan won were abandoned mid-crisis, their sleepers forgotten, until scavengers rediscovered them.

Post-war laws codified female subjugation, it was designed to be a deterrent for the mass destruction of humanity over the 22 years by ensuring women were only allowed basic jobs to concentrate on being mothers.
Some of these laws are:
- Heir and 4 spares law: Designed to ensure population growth, partners were expected to have at least 5 children in the early years, this has now become just a strong suggestion, allowing families to stop when they have their first male child.
- The Illiteracy Edict: Destroyed all books pertaining to female empowerment or any "seditious" education. Noble girls were allowed to be literate in British English and Maths, as well as stories that did not involve strong women. They were also taught the rules of servitude, expecting to submit to the man they were sold to. The poor girls were banned from an education, kept in menial tasks, they would sometimes be rented out by their masters as child bearers.
- The Skirt Mandate: Women are forbidden to wear trousers under penalty of branding, the rules state that the skirt must be form fitting and show off the curvature of the female form.
- Heel Decree: This required 4"+ stilettos outdoors, no exceptions.
- Silence Statute: Criminalized public speaking for women.
These are enforced by:
- "Chastity Brigades": Men who patrolled streets measuring hemlines, heels and sedition and performing public on street punishments as a message to other women.
- Police: Male only enforcers of the law, they will return any escaped slave to their Masters and enforce the laws between men.
- Education board: Female led believers in male superiority are usually tasked with training and educating young girls in their roles.
