Stratus

Stratus is revered as a god or higher being by the bugs if this kingdom. Though sometimes it's a bit much for him and can be overwhelming with all of the expectations. He is known by his people to grant wishes from their hopes and aspirations. His powers are strong but he doesn't use it to influence people forcefully.

He is a kind and gentle soul with little intent of harming anyone. He is bery considerate and always patient with his subjects and chooses to listen to them when in need. Sometimes he can be energetic and bubbly despite his role is being someone important and regal. He wants to be outgoing for everyone he meets, even the poor. Sometimes he's a bit forgetful and a bit stupid which can lead him to focus too much on one task.

His magic are like golden sparkles that form inside his body that are comprised of Dream Essence. He is capable of expelling this dream essence like fireworks it pixie dust.

Stratus is a large gold and jade colored dobsonfly with two pairs of spiky arms and legs. A pair of large pale yellow insect wings shimmer gold from his back. Two long horns shoot out from his pale mask and cross one another over another above his head. A glowing gold halo in the shape of diamond hovers between the gap of his horns. They tower over many bugs in Costalytra and out compete with their strength, speed, and size. They appear to be masculine and sturdy. His four large wings are patterned with orange steaks. Two long antennae go out from behind his head. His gold and jade chitn carapace almost looks like metallic armor and jewels. He has the long abdomen of an insect that resembles a tail. Insects don't need to wear clothes, but they're optional. Stratus does not wear any notable clothes in particular.

Legend said that Stratus used to be a colossal wyrm like insect who later sheds their body to take the form of a golden anthropomorphic dobsonfly to match the appearance of his citizens. He's said to be the entity who helped shape Costalytra, the kingdom, to what it is today. A land free of royalty and led by a council to bring order to this land. The nation's goal is to prosper and improve. They heavily rely on Stratus powers to access the Dream Realm to grant their dreams and wishes. He does his best to please the people who revere him. He is a people pleaser by heart and just wishes the best for everyone, even if it costs him a portion of his life essence just to make it real. He tends to let himself get stepped all over. He is unsure if people purposely take advantage of him.

During his time of rule, he becomes increasingly weak as the years of by and gains a sense of vunerability and insecurity. One day he meets a brown earwig at the cliff edge of his kingdom. He fell in love with the earwig named Feldspar, whom he has tried to actively tried to win over compared to the many other swooning women he tends to ignore. She was patient and sympathetic and caught his heart as the days passed. Feldspar never pushed to try winning him over.

Spire is his biological child after Feldspar and him unofficially married. Stratus was present for his daughter's hatching day. She was just little hatchling who fit in his hands at the time. They were something he wanted to truly treasure and cherish. Just as soon as he wanted to be a father to Spire, he has grown weak due to his overuse of his powers. At his weakened state, he finds it more difficult to be present for his family due to the constant draining feeling in his heart. He disappears one day from Feldspar and Spires life entirely, fleeing to the bottom of the lake to recover. Feldspar who was mournful of his absence since then remarried to a dark blue earwig named Xenon. She has a new son named Drop, who is a dark purple earwig.

There was a night when Stratus visited Spires dream and gifted her a turquoise gem imbued with magic. It's unclear if Spire actually recognized him as her father and not just a god.

Stratus palace is large and grand. It's towers reach into the sky just like a spire. It's walls are made of pale stone and it's surrounded by flora. In the inside is decorated with countless shiny and silver items. There are banners strewn about still hanging with Opulences emblem on display.

Prior to everything, Stratus was said to have been born from a wish made by Opulence. What exactly happened after is up to interpretation by people, having this legend become faded over time. But what exactly happened was that Opulence used to be a wyrm. She bore into the earth and created a massive hole that was soon filled with water. After her conquest, she turned into a smaller form and looked to the stars for hope. Down ascended Stratus and she raised him like he was like her own child. Opulence had always wished for a child. In reality, the husk at the bottom of the lake wasn't his, but actually his adoptive mother's. All the citizens have been blinded by their devotion for Stratus that they've unintentionally twist their fables and tales into a jumbled mess.

What caused Opulence to become overthrown was her successful execution of a bug Stratus used to date a long time ago. This bug was unlike Feldspar. A manipulative bug who used her pheromones to mind control others, that included Stratus. This pink insect went by the name Perpheroma. Stratus and the other citizens were misguided and forced to believe Opulence was an unfit queen. This led to disputes, making Opulence notice the evil within Perpheroma behind the scenes. Opulence made quick work of the pink bug, killing her when she found her opposing her authority. Stratus was angered and retaliated, still thinking that his partner was the love of his life. But after Opulence left, did he realize how bad his relationship really was after the effects. When Opulence abandoned the kingdom, Stratus was left to pick up the broken shards of her kingdom. Even after the influence of Perpheromas mind control on the subjects, they still believed Stratus was the perfect replacement to the throne. Initially reluctant he shamefully accepted the role. The citizens quickly turned Opulences Palace into Statuses.

Opulence was a pale, iridecent bug with wings that resembled stained glass. Stratus and Opulence used to do performances together and bring inspiration to the citizens. Stratus made fireworks with his magic and Opulence bended the light and changed its colors.

Costalytra is mainly covered in a misty redwood forest, and there are certain areas that are covered in water or ponds. There are some different regions that vary differently. The cliffside of the plateau is normally misty, but on certain days, the sky can be clear and you can see below. Below Costalytra is a desolate wasteland just filled of old rubble and the fallen husks of bugs who either fell or failed to climb the cliff. Costalytra is a kingdom above ground, unlike Hollownest which is built underground. It resides north of the wastelands.

The capital of Costalytra is called the City of Piers. It's said that this is the origin place of Stratus himself. A large bustling city surrounding a lake with piers encompassing its shores. A lot of tourist spots and restaurants settle by the water for its atmosphere. Fairy lights are strewn about and lit up at the night on the stone pathway by the shore. Roof gutters appear on every roof and groove on the curious infrastructure. It all directs down to the lake in the middle of the city. They have a lot of improving tech to improve their lifestyles, just not to the extent that they'd have fully operating vehicles or sentient machines. Most of their aesthetic is still full of fantasy and medieval charms. There are sometimes enchanted magical items to improve city life as well, like a large water fountain that flows indefinitely. There are certain spots in the city, mostly around the lake, that are untouched and still full of nature and trees.
