Mona (Shovel Knight)

Mona is a female alchemist who is Plague Knight's assistant. She acts apathetic to most people while she shows a more romantic and caring side with Plague Knight due to her love for him.

Mona is a woman wearing an elaborate black and purple dress complete with black gloves and a black cape. She has a puffy short black hair and a somewhat greenish skin complexion. Mona appears to be of a somewhat apathetic and melancholic temperament around other people. However, she shows her true colors when practicing alchemy with Plague Knight, being more enthusiastic and caring. She often indirectly flirts with him, although he usually doesn't notice or acts embarrassed.

In her alone time, Mona would practice dancing so that she can dance with Plague Knight in the future.

Sometimes, she affectionately calls Plague Knight "Plaguey". Mona is a woman that lives near the juice bar of the village, giving services to people by having people play her potion juggling game for a prize while studying alchemy. However, she is actually a member of Team Plague and is the assistant of Plague Knight, one of the knights of Order of No Quarter. At some point, Plague Knight and Mona began to have romsntic feelings for each other, but they're too shy to confess to each other.

Behind the scenes, she aids Plague Knight in his quest to brew the Ultimate Potion, housing the Potionarium under her room and using her Dynamo Decanter to store the Essences. She also has a shop in which he can buy modifications for his casing, powder and fuse. To increase the upgrades on sale, Plague Knight can also give Cipher Coins to her.

However, during Plague Knight's quest of collecting essences to brew the Ultimate Potion, Black Knight, who misunderstood that Plague Knight was making the ultimate potion to have the Magicist falls in love with him, approaches her and told her about his hypothesis on Plague Knight's plans, which caused her to run away from the Potionarium, causing Plague Knight to be heartbroken. However, Plague Knight still continued on his quest, believing that completing the ultimate potion will make Mona love him again.

After Plague Knight defeated the Enchantress in the Tower of Fate and got her essence, he was able to create the ultimate potion. However, before he can drink the potion, Mona and Black Knight came into the room and they have learned about Plague Knight's true plans of drinking the potion so he can strong enough for Mona to love him. With this, Mona confesses her love the Plague Knight, but before Plague Knight can respond, the potion went haywire, forcing Plague Knight to be trapped in own mind and fight his own inner demons who manifested as a giant monster that resembles Plague Knight himself. After Plague Knight defeats his inner demons and is brought back to the real world. Plague Knight understands that he doesn't need the potion for him and Mona to love each other, so he throws the ultimate potion away, which caused a huge explosion that destroyed the Tower of Fate and Plague Knight and Mona were able to escape in time.

After this, Plague Knight was knighted by King Pridemoor for his efforts of destroying the Tower of Fate. In the last scene of Plague of Shadows, Plague Knight and Mona are shown dancing together in the Potionarium. As Plague Knight's assistant, she is skilled with potions and alchemy. She throws multiple types of potion bombs as her main way of attacking. Like Plague Knight, Mona has the Bomb Burst ability, which makes her jump higher to the air by using the explosions of her bombs. She can conjure potions from midair and have them fall on her enemies. And she has a Cipher Slash attack where she conjures a magic slash to attack at short range. </Power and Abilities>
