DogDay is an anthropomorphic dog with warm orange fur, floppy ears, a sleek black nose, and large expressive eyes with white pupils that shine with warmth. His sunshine-yellow outer mouth and belly give him a bright, welcoming look, while golden-brown tones grace his paws, ears, and the left side of his face. Like all Smiling Critters, he wears a perpetual wide toothless grin, his inner mouth cast in a mysterious shadow. DogDay is the sunny, strong, and determined heart of the Smiling Critters. He leads not through authority but through warmth and always the first to find the bright side of any situation and the last to give up on a friend. His optimism is genuine rather than naïve; he understands hardship but chooses hope anyway. He offers encouragement that is open and direct, meeting his friends exactly where they are. DogDay is one of the beloved Smiling Critters of Playcare a group of anthropomorphic beings who's mission is to bring comfort, joy, and emotional support to anyone they come across. As their leader, DogDay was the steady warmth at the center of the group, the one who kept everyone moving forward no matter what lay ahead. His friendship with CatNap, (The Critter Crew's quieter, sleepier counterpart) two very different personalities forming an unshakeable bond that holds the group together. Whatever Playcare held, DogDay faced it with his chin up and his tail wagging.

While the Smiling Critters are described as having positive personality traits, the Nightmare Critters are described as having negative personality traits.
