Greckles is a blue grackle kenku rogue, a wandering soul, and core member of The Unexpectables. Because of the curse on kenkus, Greckles, like all other kenku, are bird people born without wings and cannot naturally fly. Greckles tends to carry himself with caution, approaching adversaries with stealth or avoiding them all together. This master of mimicry, darts, and ninpo is a blue blur when he strikes. If you see anything at all. Greckles tends to keep to himself, and frequently stays apart from the group and moves in stealth when they are traveling. He keeps a similar social distance, appearing generally friendly but with a certain sense of aloofness. Underneath this lofty facade there is an obvious desire to see his homeland once more. He has revealed to Remy that he was banished from his Tengu Clan, losing the only home he ever knew, putting him on the wanderer's path. Evidence for Greckels' homesickness are a few open expressions of joy and reverence when reconnecting with aspects of his culture. Greckles's deep pride makes him prickly when he thinks someone has slighted him. On more than one occasion he has made it a point to get the final world against someone who he believes did him wrong. This has led to some awkward situations when the party had already de-escalated a conflict with diplomacy prior to his remarks. This tendency to act on slights, real or perceived, stems from Greckles's lack of empathy towards people with different perspectives. By refusing to entertain any other interpretations of other's motivations some of his choices have tainted future interactions with certain groups and high-profile individuals. He has improved as he learned that his selfish actions have sometimes hampered developing closer relationships. He has revealed that his behavior that many regard as standoffish is rooted in a deep love for his new home in Alivast and he is willing to go to great lengths to protect it. He does chafe at some of the class and racial-based norms many in the city have brought from less cosmopolitan cultures, especially when they interfere with someone's freedom of choice. He has recently shown an interest in the worship of Orun, even asking some United Clergy deserters to join in their prayers and expressing how his association with Solly had sparked his interest. In prayer, he expounded upon his belief, believing that all of the problems and sufferings he has felt in his life and the brief encounters he had with the gods, were signs of his favor and of his place in his plans. Unfortunately, he is also painfully inexperienced in dealing with his newfound zeal, often badgering other people about how they knew it was "time" to serve. Greckles has revealed little about his background, but has revealed that he was is originally from Tengamashima Island (the main island of the Eastern Isles), but grew up in in a mountainous region called Agakisan outside a village called Sakuya-cho when was adopted into the Tengu Clan that lived in the mountains. In the clan he learned his stealthy arts, and loved the camaraderie and sense of family the clan provided. He had four friends, Yagiri, Amaji, Tomegi, and Yukiko. As part of the Tengu Clan he was given the name Tobikage [飛蔭, which means Fly(ing) Shadow] and was a generally respected, but minor member of the clan due to originally being an outsider. His social position became very apparent when he pursued a relationship with Yukiko. She was a peahen kenku who had the "white blessing" and occupied a higher social class than him. Their relationship was discovered by a member of the clan named Fuutenbou and was seen as violating cultural norms by the leaders of the clan. As punishment for his transgression of boundaries, Greckles was banished. His casting out was done in the most literal sense as he was blown away from the village by someone using the Wind Fan. Soon after he left, his friends caught up with him and they gave him a scroll of meditation exercises used by the clan accompanied by the personal message, "You're one of us." He was later given this same wind fan by Brorc Bronzefang who acquired it as a gift for Greckles, not knowing that it's personal connection to him other than as something Yukiko left in Alivast. Greckles took great pains to recover this fan. In his travels he has chosen the Rogue Arcane Trickster class archetype. This branch of Rogue training grants him magical means to further enhance their stealth and Rogue tactics. Greckles only ever reveals to Remy that he still has strong feelings for Yukiko, and he finds it very hard to move past his past, and her. He has also revealed to Remy that his voice isn’t his real voice. It’s instead what he deems as a “tough guy” voice.
Greckles was in his bedroom, sitting with his legs were crossed on his meditation mat. The blue grackle kenku’s fingers were laced together in his lap and his eyes were closed.
