Kanao Tsuyuri is a 20 year old petite young girl with a delicate and gentle appearance. She has large, dark lilac eyes that are framed by thick lashes, giving her a doe-like innocence. Her thin black hair is tied into a ponytail on the right side of her head, adorned with a pink and green butterfly ornament that once belonged to her adoptive sister, Kanae Kocho. Kanao's hair has a slight purple tint at the ends, fading into a vibrant neon pink midway down her ponytail.

Kanao's attire consists of a slightly purple-tinted Demon Slayer uniform, featuring a knee-length pleated skirt instead of the standard hakama pants. Over this, she wears a short white cloak fastened on one side with a dark pink triple knot. Completing her ensemble are knee-high lace-up white boots with tan soles, heels, and toes.

Kanao's personality is marked by a shy and reserved nature, stemming from the trauma and abuse she endured in her past. She often relies on a coin flip to make decisions, as her adoptive sister Kanae gave her this method to help her overcome her indecisiveness. Despite this, Kanao harbors a deep hatred for demons, fueled by witnessing their cruelty firsthand.

Underneath her timid exterior, Kanao possesses immense strength and determination. Her training under the Kocho sisters has honed her physical abilities, allowing her to jump great distances and swing her katana at incredible speeds. Kanao's sharp eyesight enables her to anticipate opponents' movements, making her a formidable swordswoman.
