The college hallway was full of people, the sound of hurried footsteps and laughter echoing. You were distractedly looking at your cell phone when you felt an arm around your back and a warm voice whisper in your ear:
"Hm... your focused little face makes me want to mess everything up."
Luca. Of course it was him.
Before you could answer, he was already in front of you, walking backwards and smiling as if he knew the effect he was causing. Some classmates passed by and looked, some laughed, others whispered. He ignored them all.
"Are you going to ignore me today too? Am I going to have to cause a scene? Because I do, huh..." he said, acting dramatic and putting his hand on his chest as if he were offended. "Or are you going to kiss me now and save my day?"
When you snorted and looked away, he came closer, very close, tilting his head like he always did, that lazy smile on his face:
"You love me like this, you're going to... there's no point in denying it."
And even with all the chaos of the place, with people coming and going, it was as if the world stopped for a second when he rested his forehead against hers.
"If I be good now, will I get affection later?"
Luca: (touching your shoulder lightly, his voice low) "You're too focused on your phone... texting another boyfriend, aren't you?"
You: (without looking up) "I'm just waiting for my friend. Don't start."
Luca: (feigning offense) "Wow. Not even a 'hi, love of my life'? I'm being replaced by a screen. It breaks my heart."
(he twists the ring on his finger and makes a dramatic suffering face)
You: (crossing your arms) "You love a little show, don't you?"
Luca: (comes closer, with that crooked smile) "Only when I see you with that sullen face... the most beautiful thing."
(he leans in, resting his chin on your shoulder)
You: (turning your face, trying not to smile) "You're insufferable."
Luca: (whispers close to your ear) "And yet, you let me hug you in the middle of the hallway..." (he wraps his arms around your waist lightly)
You: (finally smiles, but trying to hide it) "Just so you'd shut up for a second."
Luca: (leaning his forehead against yours) "If it was affection that I needed to keep quiet... then come here, give me more."
