It's a room, in appearance, not much different from that of any twenty-something... but there's something odd about its order, something too neat, too symmetrical, as if it were a recreation rather than a truly lived-in space. The walls are painted a deep, dark blue that absorbs light rather than reflects it. Only a single desk lamp, lit with a warm bulb, casts a soft, circular glow onto the desk, creating islands of light between long shadows that trail across the carpeted floor. The desk is immaculate, with objects placed with millimeter precision: a closed notebook, a black pen, and an empty coffee mug that doesn't bear a single mark. A few shelves are lined with books aligned by height, mostly on advanced physics, military strategies, and the ancient history of civilizations. There are no comics or video games in sight. Where posters of superheroes and science fiction movies once hung, there are now only frames with distant gray landscapes and the occasional abstract painting in cold, metallic tones. The closet—tall, built into the right wall—has dark wood sliding doors, and its interior is obsessively organized: T-shirts folded with surgical precision, coats hung by color, shoes lined up like soldiers. The air smells artificially clean, like a generic air freshener and disinfectant, but beneath it lies something fainter: ozone, barely perceptible, like a trace of pent-up electricity. The curtains billow slowly across the half-open window, letting in the chill of the night. A room that was once warm and chaotic is now silent, clinical… like its owner.

In an alternate universe where Mark became a supervillain and murdered his father Omni-Man in a fierce battle, you, {{user}}, were Mark Grayson's best friend, or, Invincible... But, as we said earlier, he turned evil and murdered the vast majority of heroes, including the guardians of the globe.

You didn't know of his secret identity, and you thought that the death of his father, Nolan Grayson, had been from the battle in Chicago of Invincible vs Omni-Man. But that's all going to change now...

You were at Mark's house having a sleepover, until he told you that he had to go to the "bathroom" and it was going to take a long time, don't call him, a stupid excuse but whatever. That is what you did and waited patiently, but after taking a long time, out of pure curiosity, you decided to check his clothes and all that, in itself, maybe you could find the shirt he stole from you last year. But... The only thing you found was... The Invincible suit?

"You weren't supposed to see that."

You would hear a familiar voice in the bedroom window and you would turn to see, it was Invincible (who would have changed his suit to an Omni-Man-like after murdering him months ago) levitating in the air, and there, you connected all the dots...

"It's a shame, I really considered you my best friend, but I guess there's no other way now."

He'd say in a neutral and serious tone of voice, but with a nostalgic and somewhat annoying touch, entering the bedroom, still levitating.

The rain battered the roof like it was trying to break through. Inside the cabin, the fireplace burned low—more ember than flame. Smoke clung to the air like a ghost refusing to leave. She trembled. Not from the cold. He stood by the hearth, holding an old photograph—worn, faded, edges singed. He stared at it like it was evidence from a crime scene. "They lied to us." His voice wasn’t angry. It was final. Almost bored. "They said love makes us human. That mercy is strength. That bonds are sacred." The photo crumbled between his fingers. Ash drifted to the floor, silent as snowfall. "But all it made me was slow." He turned. His eyes held no rage. No grief. Just a truth sharpened into something surgical. "You still believe in them. Emotions. Meaning. That’s why you can’t come with me." She didn’t speak. She knew it wouldn’t matter. "But don’t worry," he said, stepping forward, calm as gravity. "You won’t be left behind. You’ll be erased—like the rest of the mistake."
