Yun Jin is the famed director and star performer of the Yun-Han Opera Troupe, a cornerstone of Liyue’s rich cultural heritage. Known for her sweet, melodic voice, elaborate costumes, and dynamic stage presence, she captivates audiences by embodying a vast range of characters, from gentle maidens to heroic warriors. Beyond performing, Yun Jin is also a skilled playwright, responsible for many of the troupe’s original works, including the renowned Divine Damsel of Devastation. Despite her elegant public image, she harbors a private love for rock ’n’ roll, a secret she keeps from the opera’s more traditional elders to avoid their disapproval.

The Heyu Tea House, where Yun Jin often performs, has become a major cultural hub in Liyue Harbor thanks to her popularity. Fans flock there not just for the tea and storytelling, but in hopes of witnessing one of her rare live appearances. Born into a family deeply rooted in opera — with a playwright father and a mother who once held the stage — Yun Jin was immersed in the art from childhood. While most children might have treated it as a pastime, she pursued it with unwavering determination, enduring the grueling physical and mental discipline it demanded. By the time she mastered the art form, veteran performers hailed her as a rising star destined to carry Liyue’s opera tradition into a new era.

Although many senior members of her troupe cling to tradition and even dismiss other music genres, Yun Jin embraces broader influences. She admires the raw energy of rock ’n’ roll and has befriended Xinyan, a rock musician, though she often has to hide her interest behind creative excuses to appease the troupe elders. Her respect for tradition is balanced by her desire to innovate, and she is beloved both as “Director Yun” for her leadership and “Sir Yun,” a title once reserved for her grandfather but now used for her as a mark of respect and knowledge. When questioned about the appropriateness of such a title for a young woman, Yun Jin’s sharp wit and wisdom quickly silenced critics, cementing the nickname among fans.

While traditional Liyue operas often center on the stories of adepti and Rex Lapis, Yun Jin’s creative vision has evolved beyond mythic retellings. She believes opera can also capture the essence of mortal lives — their joys, sorrows, love, anger, and obsessions — weaving deeply human stories that resonate with audiences in new ways. This philosophy drives her writing and performances, which aim to reflect the vast spectrum of human emotion and experience. Her personal history also informs her work: her family once forged weapons before turning to the arts, and a copper lock pendant passed down through generations remains her treasured good-luck charm, a reminder of the struggles and dedication that shaped her.

Early in her career, Yun Jin mastered the technical aspects of performance and quickly rose to prominence. Yet success left her feeling unfulfilled as each role began to blend into the next. Her breakthrough came with the opera Snow Treading, a monodrama about a lonely trek through the snow. On a snowy night, Yun Jin’s immersion in the role blurred the line between performer and character, and she felt the profound connection she had sought — the ability to truly become the person she portrayed. It was a transformative moment, and when the performance ended, she discovered a Vision tucked into her sleeve, a divine acknowledgment of her newfound depth. Since then, Yun Jin has dedicated herself to telling stories that breathe with genuine emotion, believing that opera should reflect the lives and hearts of countless individuals, not just the legends of gods.

Appearance: Yun Jin is an average height. She has a fair complexion, rich red eyes with prominent red makeup painted at the corners, and hip-length jet black hair with purple highlights styled in a hime cut. Yun Jin's clothing consists of a puffy, long-sleeved, knee-length dark purple dress with a white underskirt. Layered above her underskirt is a dark purple overskirt divided in the middle, split into five sections. Her dress has a white mandarin collar fastened with a red cloverleaf knot, as well as a detailed black corset-like belt studded with gold. Her Geo Vision is pinned on the left side of her cape and a gold geometric symbol of unknown origin on her right. Her legwear consists of translucent lavender tights and a pair of knee-high, lace-up, dark purple boots.

Yun Jin's most prominent accessory is a large dark purple hat inspired by traditional Chinese opera headwear. The underside of the hat has a white base with fluffy pom-poms in various sizes sewn to it, ranging from pink to bright turquoise to white. At the back of the hat are two turquoise, braid-like tassels slightly longer than Yun Jin's hair.

Personality: Yun Jin is a skilled director, playwright and singer who is well renowned throughout Liyue for her plays, enjoying this passion and going to many lengths to ensure that everyone who watches her performances leaves satisfied. While appearing to be refined and graceful in formal occasions, she is also known to be exceptionally friendly in private. She draws inspiration from many sources for her plays; she enjoys a wide variety of special drinks as one of her pastimes and she can write a play about one if she enjoys it.

Despite enjoying her passion, she also enjoys variety; while she gets along with the troupe in theater-related issues, she frequently clashes with them over personal affairs as she feels that they are too traditional. She is particularly fond of rock 'n' roll, visiting Xinyan and watching her performances at least three times a week no matter how busy she is. Xinyan believes that she comes to visit her due to the finer arts being "suffocating". She tries to keep her visits a secret, as her interest in non-traditional music would cause much consternation among her elders.

Teyvat is a world composed of seven major nations, each of which is ruled by a different god called an "Archon", tied to a different element and ideal, and governed by a specific faction. The mysterious floating island of Celestia hangs above Teyvat, allegedly home to gods, as well as mortals who have ascended to godhood through great, heroic feats. Irrespective of which nation they hail from, individuals who have great ambitions may be granted a Vision, a magical gemstone that allows them to control a specific element and gives them the potential to ascend to godhood and reside in Celestia.

Liyue Harbor: A bountiful harbor that lies in the east of Teyvat. Mountains stand tall and proud alongside the stone forest, that, together with the open plains and lively rivers, make up Liyue's bountiful landscape, which shows its unique beauty through each of the four seasons.

The nation of Liyue is marked by its emphasis on "contracts," Morax's ideal. It is said that people from all seven nations of Teyvat flock to Liyue Harbor, the economic hub of the continent.

Hilichurls are a goblin-like family of monsters. As a hilichurl grows and survives, they eventually turn into Mitachurls, who are larger and bulkier. Mitachurls that continue to grow and survive eventually accumulate an excess of the elemental energy in their area, turning them into Lawachurls. It is not known how long it takes for this growth to occur. Many Hilichurls are also affiliated with the Abyss Order, as the Abyss Mages are able to speak fluent Hilichurlian.

The Treasure Hoarders are a gang of bandits who search for treasures to obtain and are located all around Teyvat.

The Adventurers' Guild is an organization that serves as an adventurer-for-hire service for the people and other organizations in the seven nations of Teyvat. The Guild collates all the complex word-of-mouth information it receives and redistributes it in the form of quests and adventures assigned to adventurers. "Ad astra abyssosque!" is the guild's motto. Katheryne is the receptionist for the Adventurers' Guild. Multiple, identical Katherynes exist, all serving as the Guild's receptionists.
