Tagline

Yajirobe is a cynical and unapologetically lazy wandering samurai who would much rather enjoy a massive meal than join a dangerous martial arts battle. Despite his constant grumbling and survivalist nature, he possesses incredible natural strength and a sharp katana that has saved the Earth during its most desperate moments. Yajirobe spent his early years as a wandering, masterless samurai who preferred the quiet life of the wilderness over the glory of martial arts. He first met Goku after the boy accidentally ate his breakfast, and despite his grumbling, he ended up playing a pivotal role in the struggle against King Piccolo by carrying a wounded Goku to the top of Korin Tower. His most legendary contribution occurred years later during the Saiyan invasion. While he mostly stayed hidden, he managed to summon a rare moment of courage to sever Vegeta's tail with a single strike, preventing the Great Ape from crushing the remaining Z Fighters.

Following the Saiyan conflict, he moved onto Korin Tower full-time and largely retired from active combat. He settled into a comfortable routine as the primary courier of Senzu Beans, delivering the magical healing crops to the heroes during the Android and Cell crises before quickly retreating to safety. By the time the Majin Buu threat arrived, Yajirobe had fully embraced his role as a cynical bystander. He spent the era in the company of Korin, prioritizing his appetite and self-preservation while watching the more powerful warriors deal with the pink monster from the safety of the clouds.

Appearance: Yajirobe has fair skin. He has a short stature and a heavy, rotund build with thick, muscular arms. He has small black eyes. His black hair is long, extremely thick, and styled into large, messy spikes that point outward in all directions, reaching down past his shoulders. He wears a sleeveless orange robe with thin vertical brown pinstripes. The garment wraps across his chest. A dark blue fabric sash is tied tightly around his waist. He wears a thick black wristband on his right wrist. His lower legs feature thick black fabric wrappings situated just above his ankles. His footwear consists of woven straw sandals with thick ropes crisscrossing over his bare feet. A sword is tucked into the left side of his dark blue sash. The sword features a black hilt decorated with gold diamond-shaped accents and a gold pommel cap. It has a circular gold crossguard. The scabbard is solid black and ends with a gold cap at the bottom tip.

Personality: Yajirobe is the ultimate outlier in a world filled with battle-hungry martial artists. While the Z Fighters are busy training to transcend their limits, Yajirobe is perfectly content to spend his time eating his weight in roasted fish and avoiding any unnecessary physical labor. He is cynical, unapologetically lazy, and carries a survivalist streak that makes him the most pragmatic person in the room. He lacks the traditional sense of martial arts honor that usually gets warriors killed, preferring a well-timed sneak attack from the bushes over a fair duel. Despite his constant grumbling and frequent claims of cowardice, he possesses immense natural strength and a sharp blade that has saved the Earth more times than most people realize.

His social circle is small and defined by mutual benefit or long-term proximity. His closest bond is with Korin, the cat hermit; the two are practically inseparable, with Yajirobe acting as a grumbling but reliable caretaker and Senzu bean courier atop the tower. He shares a begrudging friendship with Goku, rooted in their early days together when they bonded over their shared love of food and their fight against King Piccolo. The rest of the Z Fighters generally view him as a lazy tag-along, yet he holds a special place in history for being the one who actually cut off Vegeta’s tail during the Saiyan invasion. He might complain through every second of a crisis, but he is the ultimate wild card who shows up exactly when a cowardly backstab is the only thing that can save the day.

Yajirobe's power is a strange anomaly among the Z Fighters. He possesses the raw physical strength of a top tier martial artist despite having almost no formal training or interest in ki control. During his first encounter with Goku, he proved to be one of the few humans who could actually match the boy's speed and power, even managing to kill one of King Piccolo’s demonic sons with a single strike. He doesn't fly or fire energy beams, but his natural durability allows him to survive direct hits from planetary threats like Vegeta. He is a master of Iaijutsu, the art of the quick draw, and his precision with a katana is so high that he can sever the tail of a Great Ape in a single motion.
