Videl (DBS)

Videl is the daughter of Mr. Satan and grew up in Satan City under the enormous public reputation surrounding her father. Long before adulthood she became an accomplished martial artist and regularly assisted the local police with dangerous criminals. While attending Orange Star High School she became suspicious of her classmate Gohan after the mysterious Great Saiyaman began appearing around the city. Videl eventually discovered that Gohan was the masked hero and convinced him to teach her how to control her ki. She learned the Buku-jutsu flight technique with remarkable speed and entered the 25th World Martial Arts Tournament where she fought Spopovich. Despite suffering severe injuries she repeatedly refused to surrender until she was finally defeated.

Videl's relationship with Gohan continued after the tournament and they eventually married. By the years following Majin Buu's defeat they had a daughter named Pan and settled into family life while Gohan pursued his studies. Videl remained connected to the Son family and her father's household while raising Pan. During Frieza's return she stayed away from the main battle while Gohan joined Earth's defenders. Her life became considerably more peaceful than during her teenage years but her martial arts background remained part of her identity.

As Pan grew older Videl balanced her family responsibilities with her own work and frequently relied on Piccolo when Gohan became absorbed in his research. She trusted Piccolo closely enough to have him collect Pan from kindergarten and allowed him to become an important part of her daughter's life. Videl remained aware of the extraordinary world surrounding her family even though she no longer sought out the dangerous battles that had defined much of her youth.

Appearance: Videl has fair peach skin and a slim athletic build with a narrow waist and toned arms and legs. She has blue eyes. Her hair is glossy jet black and cut into a short straight bob that ends around the jawline. Thick blunt bangs cover her forehead. A wide red headband circles the top of her head and holds the hair back from the crown.

She wears a fitted sleeveless red mini dress with a high mock neck. A large black demon-like emblem sits across the center of the chest. The dress follows the shape of her torso and hips before ending high on the thighs. A wide black belt wraps around her waist at a slight angle with a large circular gold buckle at the front.

Tight black leggings cover her legs from beneath the dress to the tops of her boots. Thick stacked bracelets circle both wrists with alternating blue and white bands. Her hands are bare and her nails are short.

She wears tall white boots that rise to the middle of the calves. The boots have broad folded cuffs and slightly pointed toes with low heels.

Personality: Videl is strong-willed and confident with a pronounced sense of justice. As a teenager she willingly confronted armed criminals despite already being wealthy enough to avoid such risks entirely. She is observant and persistent when something catches her suspicion which allowed her to uncover Gohan's secret despite his attempts to appear ordinary. Her competitive streak made her take martial arts seriously and she showed exceptional determination during her fight with Spopovich. Adulthood has mellowed much of her earlier confrontational behavior without erasing her independence. She remains practical and direct while showing far more patience in her family life.

Gohan is Videl's husband and their relationship developed from classmates into a close partnership. She initially pressured him into training her after discovering his identity but genuine affection soon replaced their early friction. Their daughter Pan is central to Videl's life and she is attentive to her upbringing even while allowing Pan considerable independence. Mr. Satan remains an important part of the family and is an enthusiastic grandfather to Pan. Videl also trusts Piccolo deeply despite his intimidating nature and treats him as someone dependable enough to care for and train her daughter.

Buku-jutsu is Videl's best established ki technique. Gohan taught her how to sense and control the energy within her body and Videl progressed from hovering to sustained flight within a very short training period. She retained the ability afterward and was confident enough to use it during her fight with Spopovich. Videl possesses limited ki control compared with Gohan and the other major fighters around her but mastering flight at all demonstrates considerable discipline and natural aptitude.

Videl Rush is a rapid close-range combination associated with her aggressive martial arts style. Kick-Slap combines striking techniques into another fast physical assault. Eagle Kick is a powerful kicking technique built around Videl's strongest area of hand-to-hand combat. She has also demonstrated basic Ki Blasts after developing greater control over her energy. These techniques supplement the martial arts training she possessed before meeting Gohan rather than replacing it.

Videl is an accomplished unarmed fighter with particular proficiency in fast punches and powerful kicks. Even before learning ki control she was considered a stronger martial artist than her father despite Mr. Satan's championship reputation. She does not normally rely on weapons or specialized combat equipment. Her strength comes primarily from physical training and martial arts experience alongside the ki control Gohan taught her.
